I'm interested into buying a property in this "area" early next year, and I would like to know how it is the life down there.
Its one of the few parts of l.a. that i've never visited.
I've found some "nice" houses in Mt. Washington,Cypress Park,Montecito Heights and Highland Park.
Los Angeles residents of the forum: are these neighborhoods safe ?

cant really help you but you do realise you're about to make 99% of the forum insanely jealous by fulfilling their lifetime ambitions and moving stateside :D

it will not be a "permanent" move, more something like 6 months in the states and the other 6 in italy/europe...back and forth.

highland park & cypress park are very good areas, you should check them out before you do move, prices are high in that area...

Prices in those areas are not high. I've already checked some houses, i just wanna know if it's a safe area.

Highland Park has its areas but for the most part its nice...
-
are you and sik going to kick it?
-
If you need a place to stay, let me know, Elano.
Highland Park has some pretty shifty spots by the way, but its kinda going through a gentrification so it should be nice in the near future. Another added plus is I'm only 10-15 minutes away :)

Maybe i should avoid Highland Park and Cypress Park. I don't want to live in a gang infested area, if it's possible.
I need to find something between Montecito Heights and Mt.Washington, but i got the feeling that the whole North East area is full of mexicans and maybe it's not my cup of tea....but other areas in l.a. are much expensive and right now i just can afford a property here.
I just don't wanna be killed by some los avenues for a wrong turn into an alley

LOL you're kinda on the right track when it comes to those areas and Mexicans. They're not gonna fuck with you though unless you give them a reason.
Out of all of those areas, I would go with Highland Park to be the best area even now. But it will improve as time goes on. Not to mention, its a nice middle ground for most of Los Angeles. You'll be in the midst of basically everything in LA county.

Elano, don't take this the wrong way, although I'm sure you will, but the average Italian look dead on like a mexican. So you will be alright.
