Title: Props to LL Cool J!
Post by: bez on October 05, 2002, 03:31:41 PM
This guy is a proper sound guy. I mean hes been in England for a bit lately cos he presented the MOBO awards and he has been doing various tv interviews and that.

Anyway he presented the MOBO awards and did a great job, it was the best presenting of an awards show I have seen for a while, everything he said seems like he had thought of it right on the spot and it was always on point.  He always sung at the awards and stole the show, easily the best performance of the night and he rocked the house.

I turned on the tv before and he was on a program here in the Uk called The Frank Skinner show, which is basically a guy called Frank Skinner (who is funny as fuck)interviewing celeb's in front a live audience. And LL was on tonight. Anyway I was just so impressed with the maturity and the intelligence levels of LL.  He just showed me and taught me alot just by watching him for about 15 mins, hes jus talking about like he aint no gangsta hes just doing his thing and talking about shit like that and it touched me.  hes just a great guy and he also enjoyed a few laugh's with frank skinner which was cool.

I just thought I;d make a thread about it cos hes gotta be one of the most loved cats in the game.  Cos his personality is dizzzzzzope.

Ohh.
When I saw the headline, I thought the post would be like this:

Props to LL Cool, for stopping be a good rapper, and for going the commercial way like Ja Rule, and make R'n'b-rap for the ladies.

LL started doing love songs while you were still in nappies, so don't accuse him of going the same way as ja rule, accuse ja rule of going the same way as him.

LL was the first girl rapper. Can'ty hate 'cause he still battled and fucked muthaphukkaz up. They dissed his softer image, but LL always cameback. But difference between LL and Ja Rule, Rule can't sing and he tries, LL can come up with good stories.

::)
Don't hate.

I know his earlier material, thank you very much.
Now he ONLY does love-songs, and that's kinda shitty.
If all the tracks on the album had the same quality as "10 million stars", then it would be classic.
Now it's just another r'n'b-album.

True... LL always had them street jams too. But since he started something, why the fuck not profit after everyone else is doing the same shit. As long as LL don't just say stupit shit, and try to sing himself.

True dat, but..

* He may gain millions of MTV-fans, but he'll lose the hiphop-fans.

At our college radio station, I listen to the b-side of the Luv U Betta single, and it's a track called U Ha I think, but whatever the title, all hardcore LL fans, don't worry, he ain't gone at all. If fact it was very G.O.A.T. sounding in terms of his subject matter, and his rhymes. So who knows, I doubt he'll ever do an album of all R&B, but his first single always is a ladies track.

When they re-issue his old stuff i hope an engineer at Def-Jam (or pressing factory) puts I Need Drugs on their instead of Love.

Year of The Hip-Hop was dope, shame that they've only released it with some twat DJ talking on it.
