During the interview Gomez took live phone calls when several callers spoke up and complained that it was a shame that there weren’t more opportunities to hear politically charged raps and more artists like Paris. The callers put the station on blast and reprimanded Chuy for playing it safe and flooding the community with negative material. Paris told the caller that deejays like Chuy aren’t the people responsible for making the musical decisions, instead it’s the program directors and higher ups at Clear Channel that call all the shots. Those remarks elicited a swift response from KMEL Program director and Clear Channel Regional Vice President of Programming Michael Martin who stormed into the studio and told Paris to "Get the fuck out of his station".

HAHAHA that's some funny shit,but yeah,Paris was right,it's cause of them assholes in suits & wit too much money.

But the program directors are just pawns in the game, in other words they are just puppets, for the real powers that be and that's the consultants whom the radio companies hire that go to different markets and sets up their own play-lists and programs and the stations have to play what they are told.

And working with Paris when he had Scarface Records back in the day, I really doubt dude would say that to Paris and he would just leave all passively. P has a bit of a temper unless he just turned the other cheek and let it pass. PD's usually don't have the balls they have the DJ's or interns do all the dirty work. But how many people really want to hear conscious records, that may tear a new asshole in White folks? Not many...... and the listeners and consumers of Hip-Hop nowadays ain't down for the truth, materialism and partyin' are what sell records to the MASSES.

And it's a shame that folks have to pay PD's, MD's, and DJ's side money (Payola) in order to get records played. Our company spent thousands for those stations who could slide our record into their playlists and that was only temporary and who have to compete with other labels who may want to spend more money to get their artists on the air. Most radio DJ's make a bit more than minimum wage (somewhere between 7-10 per hour) and most have regular working jobs, but you know something is up when you see DJ's in condo's mansions driving 4.6's or spend crazy amounts of money just on the interior of their vehicles. Check out some the radio DJ's in LA alone. They doin' they side hustle big time (one reason why you'll hear one particular record being played more in one shift then others (that's a hint on who's payin' whom)................

No problem, I just learned the shit from experience. So if you really are trying to make a hit record and get radio to support it, be prepared to fork over some cash. Or do what many labels have done and pay for hoes to come give them some ass. Especially at Music conferences, you have to basically kiss these motherfuckers ass, but it's part of the business. If you get signed by a major, in your contracts, their will be a section which calls for "operating expenses" (or something of that nature) and the label will take that money out of your operating budget, so you might be slippin' radio stations loot and they may not ever play your shit or just play it once and collect the cash and that's it. I find it hard to believe that radio station employees just go out and buy Sean John, Roc clothing, because them fools always send "care" packages to folks to further entice them to play records. Shit, I was known for shmoozing hella secretaries to make sure PD's and MD's would make my appointments etc. etc.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE B-DAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES OF ALL YOUR IMPORTANT PEOPLE AND SEND THEM GIFTS. IT'S BULLSHIT, BUT IT WORKS AND YOU WILL BUILD LASTING RELATIONSHIPS THAT MAY HELP IN THE LONG RUN. HELL, I SHOULD HAVE A MUSIC 101 THREAD,  YO SEER!!!! HAHAHAHAHA JUST PLAYIN'
