Classic? Hell no.

Few bangers though as HighEyeCye stated

i bought it when it came out because i wanted to see what Death Row had to offer. there were some dope tracks on there. the Lady of Rage sound-a-likes track was pretty cool. OG2BG is a classic, Late Night and Who Do U Believe In? are dope too.

Indeed.

The album is a mixed bag containing a couple of gems (eg Late Night, Roll Wit Us), some good tracks (eg Easy Being A Soldier, Gotta Love Gangstas) and just plain awful album fillers. I've read a couple of times that Chronic 2000 went gold is that true?

I bought it the day it came out.. I really thought Death Row still had some juice left... turned out they didn't, and it was only going to get worse.

Only song I really liked on the album when it came out was "Like It Or Not" by Superfly.  The Pac song ofcourse was great but I had already heard it on some bootlegs.  I bumped some other tracks trying get myself to like them, but after a week or so I gave up on the album.

I remember I wanted to check out the Milkbone song because I was listening to Slim Shady LP everyday around that time, I wanted to hear another white rapper... he came out dissin Em and so I was really turned off by that track.

"OG to BG" was one of those Dre tracks originally, even during Daz verse he mentions Dre

I think the version that was going to be on there was going to be Dre feat. Tha Realest and Tha Dogg Pound for that track, but they wound up putting Soopafly on there and taking Dre and Tha Realest off. I have a hunch though that Kurupt's verse was actually the verse Dre was supposed to spit based on his delivery and tone, kinda like that Crooked I track "Say Dr. Dre"

speaking of which, I know there were supposed to be 4 "unreleased" Dre songs, and I can only remember three of them:

"Die Motherfucker Die" Dr. Dre feat. Top Dogg
"OG 2 BG" Dr. Dre feat. Tha Dogg Pound and Tha Realest
"Tha Ho Hopper" Dr. Dre feat. Top Dogg and Doobie?

But overall, the album was a hot album. Only thing that bothered me was Big Boy doing the intros on almost every track. Too many filler tracks too, if I put together the compilation, here's how the tracklisting would have been

1. Chronic 2000 - VK feat. Treach
2. Gotta Love Gangsta's - Tha Realest featuring Scarface & Richie Rich
3. Top Dogg Cindafella - Top Dogg
4. Who Do You Believe In - 2Pac featuring Yaki Kadafi
5. It's Goin' Down - MacShawn featuring Daz Dillinger & Tha Realest
6. Don't Forget Where You Came From - Swoop G
7. Like It or Not - Soopafly
8. Easy To Be A Soldier When There Ain't No War - Tha Realest featuring Swoop G & Lil' C-Style
9. Beautiful Lady - Danny Boy featuring K-Ci
10. We Don't Love 'Em - Top Dogg
11. Because of You Girl - Tha Dogg Pound featuring Tha Realest
12. Roll Wit' Us - Daz Dillinger
13. Late Night - 2Pac featuring Outlawz
14. OG to BG - Soopafly featuring Tha Dogg Pound
15. Wanna Be Loved - Michel'le featuring VK
16. Ride or Get Rode On - Bad Habitz
17. Mr. Officer - Michel'le featuring Captain Save'm & El Dorado

I bought when it dropped. DR's best compilation post 2pac. Anyone wanna up this thing in the usual spot? I don't have it anymore.  The worst thing about the comp were the BLATANT Snoop Dogg and 2Pac imitations via Topp Dogg and The Realist.  Obviously VK was a replacement for Rage but at least she had her own style.

I bought it within the first week of it being released, one of last good compilations that Death ROw dropped. I like about a disc worth of the joints on there.

Still waiting to hear some of the oringinals and dre remixes that were suppose to be on there.

I actually agree whether he's right or wrong. Sure, there was a few fillers, but even every classic album has some fillers. Great compilation. 5/5. Mac Shawn rocked that compilation.......YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU KNOW NIGGA!!!! Lol.

Well to each its own it's a matter of taste Swoop may have torn Snoop a new one on that track but I have never learned to appreciate the song. I wonder what that other Snoop diss would have sound like, Snoop Dogg/Bitch Dogg form Inside Out before before it was changed to Chronic 2000. I still keep my fingers crossed that some day someone will release those Inside Out cuts...

Dr. Dre featuring Top Dogg & Doobie - Hoe Hoppin'
Dr. Dre featuring Tha Realest & Tha Dogg Pound - O.G. 2 B.G.
Dr. Dre featuring VK - Rat Tat Tat Tat (Remix)

Damn, what are the odds those or thier original versions will evr see the light of day? I'd pay a pretty penny...

0.1%?

I bought it the day it came out.  Once I heard the track "Like It Or Not" my life has never been the same since.  Because of this song, I have had a life changing experience and I have devoted my life to studying and proclaiming the greatness that is Soopafly.

hey dont forget to give some respect to LT Hutton too because he produced that banger ;D

Yeah, Hutton produced a banger for sure, he's hit and miss sometimes, but this time it was a hit.  But let's face it, it's The Man Soopafly that makes the track.  The beat is nice, but I can't imagine anyone else being able to ride a beat like that.  And the icing on the cake is having Val Young doing backup vocals...don't get any better than that.

I bought it immidiately when it came out and indeed, there were plenty of awesome songs. If it was a 1cd album, instead of a double-cd, it would've been a true classic. This album was released when the label actually had some talent left, and other than a few fillers (actually about 5 or 6 of them), most of the album was great.
