Cool.
Congratulations on the very first "Vault"-entry. ;D
-
does that mean Dre didnt write one single fuckin song? or is it "all inclusive" i mean i know jay-z wrote Still Dre for him but dang, that seems weird.
-
I'm Glad Dr Dre Didn't Write Any Of The Songs - It Would Fuck The Album Up. :)
-
I read the "2001" booklet a billion times, I've studied that thing and I think I'm pretty right with what everything's there.

Dr. Dre Played The Trumpet On "The Watcher"
-
2. The Watcher
Written By Eminem
Ha ha. No, he didn't. He could have partly written it, but he didn't write this song by himself. The infamous "N***a" is used 10 times on "The Watcher". Eminem has said that this word is not in his dictionary. Besides, the lyrics were pretty wack, Eminem writes much better lyrics. I also got "Dr. Dre 2001", and I don't see writing credits on any song in the booklet. In addition, Eminem can't relate to gangsters. I hope you agree, if you don't, I could give you an example:
Eminem written: ?
"Niggaz aim mainly at niggaz they can't be
But niggaz can't hit niggaz they can't see"
No.
Anyways, props to you... I just had to correct you on that one, peace.
-
^^ well i guess he wrote it for DRE, who is black, and he raps it, so it should sound like its coming from him...peace
-{bLaDe}
-
I'd like to know if Snoop wrote his parts of Still Dre.
The Watcher, thats a odd one.. parts could be knoc too but it is heavily eminem.
-
Please believe Eminem wrote "The Watcher." It's definetly his style, especially that part, "I ain't a thug, how much 2Pac in you got. I ain't no bitch niether, it's either my life or your life, cause I ain't leavin, I like breathin." Dre gives concepts, and Em wrote it. Plus that who, "Thangs just ain't the same for gangstas" blah blah. Em also freestyled a very similar version on this freestyle I have.

Dr. Dre Played The Trumpet On "The Watcher"
Where you heard that?
It's not in the credits.
-
When Mellowman used to post on the board, he had a trivia question, and it was "On What song did Dr. Dre personally play the trumpet on?" I guessed "The Watcher" and he said that was correct. ;D
-
Cool, he oughta know it, but it's strange that it doesn't say so in the booklet. Dre likes getting credit.

:D
;D I was gonna, but I was feelin lazy
-
Wow, the first thread with TWO pages in the Vault.
Suga's throwing a party to celebrate it :D :D
-
Yeah, I wonder who will do the majority of writing on "Detox"? Prolly Eminem, Rakim :o, Knoc, some new protege's. I doubt Hittman at all, since he has bailed, I know he already wrote for the album, but what are the chances of it sticking.
-
I made some edits, also, which songs had samples? I know "The Next Episode," "Lets Get High" & "The Next Episode" had them. I'll go look now.
-
Next Episode sampled "The Edge" by david mcallum
Let's Get High sampled "Backstrokin" by fatback
Xxplosive sampled "Bumpy's Lament" by Isaac Hayes
Forgot about dre sampled "The Climb" by no doubt
Murder inc sampled the halloween theme
That's just off the top of my head, there might be more.

lol word... it does have that little b sound at the start!
-
Doesn't that mean he co-produced it?
-
Doesn't that mean he co-produced it?
Nah, Storch played a lot for Dre. He didnt help with the "direction" of the song. Dre would spend time with the artist, Scott wouldn't. That is the difference.

Dre's not a MC, he's a musician.. let the professionals handle the rhymes.. 8)

yeah he never really wrote tho, even with NWA & The Chronic albums so it's not a big deal, i just think he should quit rapping entirely cause even if he doesn't write them i don't like listening to him rap anyway.
-
im still surprised because his rhymes were never that amazing,
like i didnt think the rhymes on still dre were that good and now i find out they were written by jay-z?! thats just crazy.
-
Dre and Mel Man produced the album.
How come Dre cant produce it himself.
-
dogg why r u hatin on dre in every post?? oh and he did most trax himself
Dre produced 8
mel produced 2 solo,
dre storch and mel produced 2,
Dre and mel produced 4
Lord Finese produced 1
the rest were skits
-
Mel-man didn't really co-produce the two that Storch did.

Im not hatting on dre... Inside the booklet it says:
ALL SONGS PRODUCED BY Dr. Dre and Mel-Man
Except : "The Message" Produced by Lord Finese.
nowhere does it mention any Mel-Man solo produced tracks, Dre solo produced tracks, or Scott Storch Co produced tracks.
-
they prob put that to save time instead of sayin the list i put up. If u look at the credits in the book it says the real truth
-
Props, overrated album, good but not worth 5 mics.
-
Just so you know, Isaac Hayes aint the sample for Xxplosive.
-
man Royce Da 5'9" wrote "The Watcher" too
-
what happened to mel man
-

-

Neff-U played keyboards on a lot of songs and said that Dre jerked him for the credit. He said he did the beat for that coors light commercial and "My Dad's Gone Crazy" off the Eminem Show.
-
Big Egos samples/interpolates the Theme from The Persuaders by John Barry.
-
4. Still D.R.E. (featuring Snoop Dogg)
Written By Jay-Z
Keyboards: Scott Storch & Camara Kambon
Wtf, didn't Snoop write his own shit?

well he was credited as the keyboard player on all those songs, so its kind of strange when he said that. maybe he thought he would be credited as coproducer on everything he touched, lol

Ackrite - additional vocals by The D.O.C, Snoop Dogg
The Next Episode - additional vocals by The D.O.C.
Housewife - additional vocals by The D.O.C.
Bang Bang - additional vocals by Eminem.
There are a lot more....
Ain't that Nate Dogg on the hook of "Fuck You" backing Devin's vocals? Who's on the outro of that one?
