We usually stay away from reporting on the private lives of movie stars, but this one came as a huge shocker. The National Enquirer and Star magazine are exclusively reporting that Owen Wilson tried to commit suicide on Sunday and has now been transported to St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica. Police and ambulance responded to a 911 call from Wilson’s house in Los Angeles on Sunday early afternoon. TMZ is reporting that the 911 call came in at 11:59 a.m. to the L.A. Fire Department. A family member discovered the star and made the call. Sources tell the magazines that Wilson sliced his left wrists and took an indeterminate amount of pills. The Enquirer says that Wilson’s wrist was stitched and bandaged at the hospital, and that Wilson would “be detoxed.”
Let’s hope he gets better real soon. I always find it tremendously sad that someone of such success and stature can still be as depressed as the homeless man I pass on 4th street every day. I’ve been following his career since Bottle Rocket and I still believe that Wilson is one of the best comic actors working today. His latest film, The Darjeeling Limited is due to hit theaters on September 29th.

the reason why i said "girls will do that to you" is they keep throwing the end of his relationship with kate hudsen in there. if you love someone it'll do that to you man. if you've become so co-dependant on someone and share a significant life and build a strong enough bond with someone......the END of that, leaves you with a huge hole in your soul. and for some guys that triggers suicidal responses.
another story. i had a friend who was madly in love with this one girl. they were inseperable,they were soul mates. they acted and thought a like, if you saw him she was there, if you saw her he was there. they both came from fucked up homes where their parents didn't care abou them, anyways....my friend went out of town for a month to bury his grandma in mexico. and she ended up sleeping with someother dude. shegot pregnant. and when he got back from mexico she played off the pregnancy as 'theirs'. baby's born and it comes out looking black....my friend flips. in one moment his heart breaks because 1) the girl he LOVED threw their love away 2) the child him and his family were WAITING for and ANTICIPATING wasn't his. dude went crazy for the next 3 months and then his neighbor found him hanging from a tree in the back yard.....thankfully he survived , but clearly he wanted out.

I really donno what to say about suicide...because I've never felt anywhere near that...I've never even been depressed like that. So I would think that people on that tip have something going on that I could never even try to understand...and it would be easy for me to say "that's stupid, they're selfish, they're idiots", but that's just what it feels like when you can't relate.
I only have one friend who committed suicide, and I hadn't really talked to him within the six months of it happening. He was always a bit off, and used to snap a lot..but he never seemed like he'd do that. However, everybody else said he was very happy for those last two weeks he was alive, which I hear is common for people before they take themselves out. I heard he was on something those last few months, which I think was prescription, but he might have been mixing it with something else. I know that he shot himself in the head at his family cemetary in Augustus, GA, and somebody saw his body and he was rushed to the hospital..but he died a few hours later during surgery.

The point I was making NIK was it is something that I, and obviously you, cannot fathom. I've never wanted to kill myself. I don't know what goes on in the mind of someone that does want to do something like that. Selfish? Selfish is wanting sex so bad you don't care that you're married and can't bother waiting for your wife that you fuck the first blonde you see. What is selfish about dieing? What do you gain from killing yourself? It may not be cosiderate to your loved ones but the very idea that you have an urge to kill yourself is something much greater than a single sentence insult. This is about actual life being taken, and a mindset that cannot be comprehended by those that don't feel it. It's real easy to just point fingers and call names but that doesn't solve anything. Can you imagine the wonders in this world if the chemical or genetic reasons for something like suicide could be cured. Or even pedophelia. All I know is that whatever makes someone commit suicide (or attempt it) it has to be some pretty hard, unsolveable stuff. A person just doesn´t decide to kill himself because it´s easier than to deal with the problem.
People typically commit suicide because they're very selfish, and they're trying to 'hurt' somebody permanently. If a guy kills himself the last girl he fought with will be permanently scarred, it's a way of inflicting control and making yourself part of somebody's personality, to actually have an effect on a woman when they feel that the woman doesn't care about them.
Very pathetic, selfish, low-life thing to do. He's got to be in a very bad place mentally right now, he should take about a year off and straighten his life out, learn how to treat people, then get on with his career or whatever he wants to do.

I don´t rule your theory out either because I just don´t know myself and the people that could explain what made them commit suicide are dead (duh.) I don´t see the purpose in someone committing suicide because they want to hurt someone. I mean, they are dead afterall, what benefit would they have then? Besides that, man´s survival drive (<- I hope this is the right word for it) is the strongest drive that he has. You cannot just kill yourself that easy, that is why I said that it´s really unimaginable to me that someone just kills himself for some bullshit reasons. I also would like to give people the benefit of the doubt in that case, even IF they killed themeselves to harm others directly or indirectly then I want to believe in the good in man and say he did it out of desperation. I will always (without knowing any details to a story) have sympathy with people that commit suicide and not call them weak or selfish. After all, I don´t know a person´s history.
That doesn´t mean that I´d give a pass to everyone who commits suicide. Here, there was a really huge story where a girl was kidnapped when she was 10 years old. Like one year ago (then being 18) she managed to flee from her kidnapper who killed himself the same day. Now this girl had to live in the cellar of his house, no daylight most of the time, her whole youth was being taken away. Now I could imagine that the kidnapper was a real fucked up guy, being a reject all his life and having to kidnap a child to have some kind of power over someone and whatnot. When I think about it I feel sorry that the whole thing happened and that he was so fucked up to do something like that but then again he did something horrible to a child that had absolutely nothing to do with his problems and therefore let him rot it hell.

Um... sorry, but it is not that easy. Just because you got money, your life is automatically worth living? Poor people might think that money is the solution to all their problems, but that's just not the case. For some people maybe, it is different. Ultimately, it is YOUR life, NOBODY asked you if you want to live it before you lived, and you can do whatever the fuck you want to do with it. It is not your duty to endure suffering just because other people seem to do. unless you have children or other dependants i don't really see how suicide is really a slefish decision. many people who commit suicide are disconeccted from loved ones and others, so you can't say that.
if you get fired and commit suicide and have a family at home....i mean yeah that's selfish
if you lived a life long unhappy life and are considered an outcast ....no that's not really selfish.

The premiere was held Thursday night at the headquarters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. "The Darjeeling Limited," now in theaters, is the story of three brothers who journey by train through India.
Before the movie started, Anderson introduced Wilson, his longtime friend and collaborator, saying, "I've never made a movie without him and I hope I never have to."
Anderson and Wilson have worked together on several films, including "Bottle Rocket," "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tenenbaums," for which they were nominated for a best screenplay Oscar
