I'm ready.....
-
Sounds DOPE!!!!
-
The first song sound :o.
-
This will be a huge disappointment , GUARANTEED. Quik could easily be at the top of the gangsta rap totem pole , but he insists on experimenting with bullshit sounds and concepts. Bring the guns back out Quik , and give us beats like "We Don't Love 'em " , and quit with The Fixxers type bullshit !!!!!! Gangsta rap needs you !
-
Yeah that first cut is a perfect opening track. Got a niigga excited. That beat is on par with the joint they did on Ego Trippin.
They got some different sounding cuts on here... But alot dope sounding stuff as well.
-

They got some different sounding cuts on here... But alot dope sounding stuff as well.
You Mean Ego Trippin?

yea.... im trippin

album sounds pretty dope.has a lil safe and sound vibe to it.seems like quik used that same clap/snare with tons of reverb on it though.all in all i think it is one of those albums that is just gonna have to grow on people.i just wish kept that smooth sound on most of the album compared to that uptempo vibe.atleast that what it sounds like on those snippets.
-
don't wanna make a judgement based on those snippets, but they sound pretty disappointing, nothing really stands out :-\
-
"Exodus" & "Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars", 'the fuck is that? :-X
-
Ah man I can't wait for this, it's right around the corner!
-
im just disappointed its ONLY 13 tracks and 1 track is by problem
-
Damn, I thought there was gonna be a little more tracks than that. That's like what.. approx. 40 mins?
I'm not gonna take a listen to any snippets (cuz it seems like everytime i see a blaqkout thread there is a new track to be heard ), I'm gonna wait & cop it when it drops.
Check it out, BlaQKout has its own wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlaQKout_(album)) <--
-
The intro , Cream, Do you know , Fuck Y'all , and the Appeal sound all dope , Hey Playa is above average ... the rest sounds garbage
-
Those snippets do sound disappointing, only 4 5 good sounding tracks on there. Im not gonna judge it based on those though, ill wait until i hear it all!!!
-
The intro :o Fuck yeah thats what i want to hear
Cream - Awesome Beat and flow is dope 8)
Fuck Yall - Allready heard the track and i like it. Average song tho
The Appeal - Sounds laidback i like it very much
Overall out of 13 Snippets only 4 of them actually sound good. This album is gonna be fuckin wack
-
Yep.. a couple bangers but Kurupt does that stupid whisper flow shit on a lot of songs and Quik has some wack beats on here.
I'm gonna have to say there's about half bullshit and half good shit.. defintely not a classic but really one of the few things worth listening to this year.
-
damn this is short, like a 40min album
sounds....interesting..will reserve judgment 'til i hear full album
-
sounds good to me... couple of strange beats on that shit... lol.. but that happens nowadayz......
-
I agree with the Hispanic fellow, this is gonna blow.
-
"Exodus" & "Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars", 'the fuck is that? :-X
yeah dat shit is wack :-[
-
I'm ready.....
-
Damn DJ QUIK FELL THE FUCK OFF!!! It's official and this comes from one of his biggest fan, hate me now but the dude's sperimenting since 2002 and keeps on failing.. "Trauma" was good, "Fixxers" trash and now here we go with an album which is (JUST AS I THOUGHT) for a half FIXXERS TRASH and for the other half pretty good.
-
this album will be like 30 % great, 25% very good 25% average and 20% wack.... i expected a bit more from Quik cause dude is a musical genious tho i can live with that and buy that ish. Lemme bump Trauma , intro for roger
-
"BlaQKout" seems to be the only stand out track, "Fuck Y'All" e "Hey Playa" are very good... but seriously what's up with "Watcha Wan Do" (TWICE + SKIT.. I hate Problem now), "9X Outta 10", "Exodus" and "Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars"?!?? What's wrong with Quik , I wonder who's gonna blame this time... this is easly his worst album ever.
-
I won't check out those snippets, i wanna hear the whole thing when it drops.
-
wack as fuck..fuck is this ??? ???
-
i'll wait to hear the full thing. That 9 outta 10 track was kinda wack though. Fair play Quiks trying to experiment but couldn't he have dropped a few tracks with him rapping to see people's reactions. Then at least he could have tweeked the sound...
-
damn "Cream" sounds dope.. "Exodus" => whats that?? OKay, Quik has the right to experiment but this sounds really strange.... hopefully the full track got a suprise
-
lol @ the title of the track "Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Hahahahaha :D Judging by the snippets this album is going to suck donkey DICKS (which is not a good thing)! There were three type of beats. Balance & Options leftovers, Fixers leftovers and WTF?! beats (Jumpite's cirtic). I don't think I'm going to bother to listen the leak.
-
- BlaQKout, Do U Know, Fuck Y'all, Hey Playa and The Appeal are dope 8)
- Cream, Ohh and 9X Outta 10 are good :)
- Whatcha Wan Do is average :-\
- Exodus is wack :(
- Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars is horrible >:( :'( ???
That's my quik review after hearing those snippets..
-
an half of album is dope and some tracks are bullshit
cant wait for the retail
-
what the fuck, 13 tracks, we've already heard 5 of them, whatcha wan do is on it twice, plus one track by Problem? So we kinda know half of this record already. Doesn't sound good to me :(
-
"Bee's To the Flower" Is gonna be a BlaQKout Itunes release!
-
1. BlaQKout [Explicit] ----------------sounds like classic quik 5/5
2. Cream [Explicit] ----------------great beat by quik tho kurupt again comes with that G to a T its me DPG a G rhymes 4/5
3. Do You Know [Explicit] ---------nice summer anthem, gotta love those 5/5
4. Whatcha Wan Do [Explicit---------------quik is going back to fixxers days, experimetal beat, problem on a track 3.5/5
5. Ohh! [Explicit]------------- kurupt on some girl sex stuff, quik beat is good, nuttin special 3.5 /5
6. Fuck Yall [Explicit]---------------- lovin this track, quik providing a great mellow beat with a nice hook, kurupt comes correct 5/5
7. Hey Playa! (Moroccan Blues) [Explicit ------------dont like the sample on the beat(that dude singing)tho instruments are great, 4/5
8. Exodus [Explicit -------------------------- cant judge it fully cause i havent heard a full cut, sounds hella experimental 3/5
9. 9X Outta 10 [Explicit] beat is amazing, dj quik experiment came out great, nice raw type freestyle lyrics by kurupt 5/5
10. Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars [Explicit] another outta space experiment by quik, voices are robotic, dont understand it yet so 2.5/5
11. The Appeal [Explicit sounds lazy for now, beat is nuttin special also 3/5
12. Problem: The B Stands For Beautiful [Explicit] totally disagree with this, this should be removed, i rather hear a 2 minute song with problem then this
13. Whatcha Wan Do ((Alternate Version)) again this, dont understand why, i bet they could produce one more track and remove this .
from the snippets it sounds like a 3.5/5 album, i expected waaaay more then this from one of my favorite producers+ most complete artists DJ QUIK, on this album his beats are going from great to average and its bothering me cause we all know what kind of stuff this dude is capable of.
album has a few fillers and only 11 tracks + extra version of Watcha Wanna Do + 1 Problem skit, when u remove that and all average songs u get like 5 great cuts wich is not that great for album that we have been anticipating so long. Quik experimented on this album and some experiments came out very good for me presonally like 9x outta 10, but some went bad like that jupiter space stuff. Cant say lotta stuff on kurupt, only that hes getting better, i havent heard all the lyrics so i wont judge it for now but i think hes good on this album but far from his best.
-
my fave traks are:
BlaQKout
Cream
Do You Know
Whatcha Wan Do
Fuck Yall
Hey Playa!
9X Outta 10
The Appeal
if im honest im really dissapointed with the release, when you drop this kind of album, u hav to make the best of it but im afraid thats what we get these days with some rappers. a few guest artists wouldve been great on this album, dont know why the traks with problem are still on ther
oh well. 8/13 traks are not bad
-
"Bee's To the Flower" Is gonna be a BlaQKout Itunes release!
how do you know homie ?
-
as a huge quik fan i´m dissapointed too :-\
i thought this albums will be grat caus Quik+kurupt= westcoast legends
half of the album is great the other half is trash
and 13 tracks!!??
plus they chose to put the badest song 2x on the album?
and problem has a bullshit skit????
man, we waited like over a year for this album, and there only will be like 5 songs which will make it on my player >:(
-

I'll chill w/The snippets from now on..
I'm ready for this album tho.
IMO, Quik & Kurupt can't be weak... Impossible.
I already liked the first 2 tracks leaked have strayed away from the others, I'm sold.
In line already..
-
BTW Problem's skit was on Quik's MySpace... it's a terrible boring minute of him speaking... seriously, who the fuck is Problem?
-
yall who hate this album should be ashamed this is a great record just appreciate this top notch quality music by dj quik!
-
sounds quite promising. we'll see...
-
The album is real nice. Got it at home. Sounds very clear!
Just 2 tracks I don't feel (Exodus & Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars).
have you already the album ? : O
-
who the hell made that wikipedia page? shit is mad wack...
"BlaQKout is a collaboration album by rapper/record producer DJ Quik and rapper Kurupt. It´s completly produced by DJ Quik."
use a spell chek next time...
-
Im still anticiptaing this even though i dont expect it to be amazing .
-
Im still anticiptaing this even though i dont expect it to be amazing .
...AND definetly a summer album for me 8)
-
this is reminding me of the disappointing 213 album.. Time to start making out own albums again.. Bring back Cant Go Wrong or at least have quik release the original version in CDQ
-
Never really listen to snippets when its available but really cant wait for BlaqKout so I did and...
Full Tracks
Do You Know, Fuck Y'all, Hey Playa --> We already know them and they pretty good
9x's Outta 10 is coo to bump when you got lotta bass at home or in ya ride
Watcha Wan Do is aight (why put both versions on the album!!!!)
Snippets
"BlaQKout", "Cream", "Ohh!", "The Appeal" sound HUGE
"Exodus" not so bad reminds me kinda like Trouble type of beat
"Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars" sounds weird, kinda like Suga Free old songs
CANT WAIT FOR THE RETAIL
-
Sounds good from the snippets, I'm sure this will be solid album.
It's amazing how some of you bitch about everything and just wanna some same sounding music for 20 years from these artists. God forgive them for experimenting and doing what they want in their late careers. ::)
-
Just tried a couple snippets - waitin now to hear the real deal CD on my system.
Can't believe so many haters here not willin to give the full tracks a go before slammin this as wack?
-
this is reminding me of the disappointing 213 album..
Hell no. :o
-
Which Is The Song With The "Anniversary" Beat???
-
damn looks like a few heads might not like this release
(lets see if those same heads change their minds when they get the album-if they do)
-
I won't check out those snippets, i wanna hear the whole thing when it drops.
-
Do You Know
Which Is The Song With The "Anniversary" Beat???
-
wasnt ther a trak similar to 2 of amerikaz most wanted?
-
The album is real nice. Got it at home. Sounds very clear!
Just 2 tracks I don't feel (Exodus & Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars).
have you already the album ? : O
Yeah. I ordered Blaqkout and Fuel for the playstation 3. Both delivered 2 weeks before release date.
well in tht case can u give us a little review of the cd?!
-
gotta hand it to them....they're doing different..way different...luv it though.
some good ones... just gotta lower the expectation.
-
Cream is the shit I wish the entire album was like, snippet wise it seems average
I will still cop it, fukk it
-
lol @ the title of the track "Jupiter's Critic and the Mind of Mars" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
wtf is that horrible shit! Damnnn, disapointed! Wheres the track that samples 2 of Amerikaz most wanted...
Some of those tracks sound pretty dope though, I gotta download this now to see if its really gonna be worth the cash, the intro sounds sick!
-

-
"that kiddo is lieing dont believe him there no online shop that delivers 2 weeks before june1(UK) or june5th the blaqkout album."

this forum is getting bad... I like some of the posters here. but most of them are just idiots.
rap fans like to talk shit. act real hard behind a computer. do you guys think this shit will happen on a beatles or jazz forum?
why can't you guys act normal?!
-

Because it was rare when a classic rock or jazz legend dropped something so unusually wack and out of character that they alienated their fans.

True. They mostly stick to what they good at. But I wasn't talking about fans not liking Blaqkout. Just in genaral. This is one huge negative forum... It's a shame.
-
Pretty sucks that its only 40min of music after all this time of trying to get the west back on track I don't think this is the way it will be back for quik to even release some half ass music..but like he said in his interviews they just was in there doing songs...to me it look like they did enough songs to make a album and use they're name to sell the songs and call it a album..but I just think that this was not intended to be a album but made enough songs to call it a album...I mean I'm lookin at this as openminded as any can..but its not sitting right with me..from two of the westcoast legends to come 2getha for a group project and only give us only 14 songs that's sucks and to me red and meth album is better than quik and kurupt...just with the possibilities of knowing the type of beats and music quik has come with over the years...and the "streets iz a mutha" album kurupt came with...if this album was concentrated on it might would have been focused on....come on man! And what's the deal with that problem song on there?
-
This will be a huge disappointment , GUARANTEED. Quik could easily be at the top of the gangsta rap totem pole , but he insists on experimenting with bullshit sounds and concepts. Real Talk....I can't believe the production....it's weak ass hell....Quik is by far my favorite producer from the West but this shit "HERE NIGGA" coulda stayed in vault...locked away. :(
-
only 12 tracks....i thought there was supposed to be like 16....pfffftttt...
Never herd this before !
i remember quik said 12 or 14songs max

This is a new Quik and Kurupt interview from Rime on you tube.

I can't understand some of these immature kids who complain about EVERYTHING. Man, these guys have already been there, done that -- they are paid. They don't have to make no album and we haven't had anything worth talking about from a West Coast cat except a Detox album that might drop by 2015. DJ Quik and Kurupt come out of nowhere and are getting ready to drop this heaven on us, and some of the immature kids on here are whinning and crying "I wanted the album done this way," "No I wanted the album done that way," "they should have used more nerd effects in their video." Man, some of you all need to just crawl back under your rock you live in because none of you all complainers will ever be happy or satisfied no matter what our artists do.
I like the style of beats they used on this release and they gave it their own spin and the videos bring that classic pacific westcoast feel to it at the same time.
This is some classic music and I'm ready for June 9 to cop this thing and bump it. I love that "Do You Know" video (that was a perfect track and video and I like Kurupt's 2009 style so far) -- that is a smooth West Coast classic and I would love to see it played on television. We need to support this release real big. None of us have been buyin albums lately so it's time for us to get up and push this joint up the charts.
We should all cop two copies each and push this thing up the charts. With the current situation in the rap game, this might be an opportunity for the West to make some noise and shine some light on us again. I am feeling most of the tracks that I've heard so far.
No matter what you all say, this is miles ahead of "Do That Stanky Leg" and some of the other garbage out there -- lets get this release the love it deserves and it bring it back to the West, West. Big up to Kurupt and DJ Quik for giving us another classic.

ur right homie !! thats some real talk !!
+1 for this fuckin post 8)
i totally agree
-
I'm feeling some of the tracks...definitely getting it..
I don't understand why ppl hating this album....it's not the best album..but shit...it's definitely LOT better than ANY CURRENT ALBUMS being released.
Fuck it, i'm copping it.
-
i heard it , its a terrible album , no wonder its not getting any promotion . Quik and kurupt best days are long gone .
-
Daaamn that intro sounds siiiiick
-
quik and kurupt should both retire.....this is fuckin wack
-
Great clip there.
-
Sounds really good!
Mind of Mars is cool.. Classic Quik.
-
Letme put it this way, after listening to the snippets and being hyped for this album for months now, I am possibly even more excited for the 9th. Everthing I heard except for maybe 1 or 2 tracks sounded hot! Anyone who thinks the sound is wack, obviously never has liked or listened to much Quikin the past. Its very true to what he has always done with his music, alot of horns and synth, piano and smooth beats. No it doenst scream weezy or jeezy, and thank god it doesnt! If it did I would then be screaming for Quik to retire too!
-
once again yall cryin like bitches, #1 #2 #6 #7 #11 are classic quik #3 #5 and #9 are dope, the rest arent that great, but how many albums being put out noawadays where 8 outta 12 songs are that good?? this is why i dont like this forum no more, 2 many lil girls on here bitchin gettin they panties in a bunch ALL THE TIME! half of u leechin ass broke ass kids just gonna download it, u aint gonna buy shit but wanna talk shit anyway
-
not listening to the snippets, waiting for this to arrive in the post. however, i agree with anyone who's hasn't been appreciating kurupt on here too much. i was willing to give him some slack cause he been sounding good on some recent records. having heard a few tracks from this where quik > kurupt easily (quik has been sounding real good over his own beats as of recent) there's no other conclusion except for kurupt fell off a long time ago and it still far from recapturing his form :-\
-
Too much complaining on here.. If u don't like it, don't buy it. Simple. If u like theyre old shit.. go listen to it. I for one, can't wait for this to drop.
I know its not an instant classic, and its not gonna save the west.. But it is some dope music u can bang for the summer. 8)
I'm gonna be buying this and the new Mos Def album "the estatic" next tuesday.. If u guys haven't heard it yet.. Check out the snippets on amazon. Sounds real dope to me.
Oh yeah, I just heard "Bees to the Flower" on power106 awhile ago.. Sounds pretty dope! It does kinda sound kinda like "can u werk wit dat" but waay more fonky! I don't see it on the tracklist, but someone said it'll be a bonus track.. It sounds better that 2 or 3 tracks on the album tho :(
I'm guessing they made it after the final tracklist, during the time when the album was pushed back while they were waiting for the samples to clear. Or else this shoulda made the tracklist.. Its alot better than Whatcha Wanna Do. And I'm mad that they put that on there twice.. But oh well. Can't complain.. Cuz u get the good w/ the bad on here.. And maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think "Jupiters Critic in the Mind of Mars" sounds crazy! I like it.. But I guess that music for u.. Different strokes for different folks!
-
album is wayyy too short. 13 tracks 11 songs 1 skit 1 alternate song (???) and 2 god awful songs (jupiter and exodus). a handful of songs are worth listening to, the others are cool. Album should have just been an EP. for a short cd its really not worth $13. especially for 9 cool cuts. Im gonna have to pass on this. Very disappointing to say the least. I'll cop it when I see it on the clearance section at Amoeba in Hollywood.

10 bucks at best buy
-
its def got a diffrent sound to it... i thought it was have that trauma like feel because those beats were epic.. honestly they were orchestrated out crazy... even when i heard cant go wrong the other day i was thinking damn there going to come with some shit like this but the snippets got me thinking there going in a whole new direction some of the cuts sound dope the intro, ooh, and fuck yall, hey playa, but some of them are diffrent.. Guess ill just have to cop it and bump it for a few days
-
Hell, 8 outta 12 ain't bad for music coming out these days i'll cop it. And to you fools complaining about only 12 songs.. Thats the way it should be. Who wants an 18 track album full of skits and fillers? And no ones forcing you to download these songs that have leaked.. If you wouldn't have done that you would be having 12 brand new songs coming your way.
-

I actually agree with you for once rather than your usual "feature this guy on a track and it'll sell" ideas. Everybody should just be glad there are still some west coast artists making music. The west coast sound back in the day is to be remembered as a golden era, and we must move on.

Shit sounds real dope to me.
I just get the feeling that since Quik/Kurupt have leaked 4 or 5 tracks (or however many) so far, that people don't feel like they're getting very much cuz not all of it is "new" to them by the time they heard these snippits.
The internet has given you the option to hear more & more of this stuff quite a bit of time before the actual release date. You gotta look at the big picture of this whole project.
Whether you've been a Quik/Kurupt fan for a decade or not, this is a HOT record. I shouldn't say that because all I'm going off of is the tracks that have leaked & the snippits of the others, but 95% of the records put out today are complete CRAP. This release is something we have all been waiting for & we should all appreciate. It's our own faults if we let ourselves hear too much of it too soon and now we let ourselves down.
June 9th = Time for the westcoast. Support these guys!

can someone upload that track that has a video with the hot girls? its a new video from Quik and Kurupt but I forgot the title, an mp3 of it would be nice!

Im def buying this album...Gotto support Quik and Kurupt
-
IMO the long time kurupt/quik fans were expectin something different but i feel what everyones sayin
but I guess when favorites drop cd's (especially after they've been gon for so long or dropped wack albums since) when they finally decide to drop a cd and its not "how they want it" they get mad.
im not the biggest fans of these rappers so its all good and i got some of their bangers already

+1

Yes, you are right! The West Coast must move on but some west coast guys try to copy the sound of some mainstream punks. Blaqkout got some dope cuts but it has not the sound that everybody expect.
To "move on" need some creativity. the sound in the golden era was really innovativ. they interpreted a whole music era (funk) new. you cant find this creativity in todays music! sorry, without that there is no "move on"....

You don't feel Hey Playa? :o
Agree on Exodus and Jupiter shit though, that just goes too electronical. Everything else on production is good and this will be a good summer album.

I love the chorus and the beat is good in theory... the sample just sounds off quality wise and it gets wayy too busy in the chorus. imo they should've replayed the sample for the verses and dropped it during the chorus.
Even the verses are kinda weird, quik rapping about some underworld gate keeper shit

don't wanna make a judgement based on those snippets, but they sound pretty disappointing, nothing really stands out :-\
