Title: Goddam Canadians! (National Election)
Post by: Ras Kass' Toothpick on June 28, 2004, 08:15:47 PM
Looks like another Liberal government.  I guess most Canadians don't care if their government steals their money and lies to them.

I will give it to the Liberals that they know how to run a campaign.  They sure know how to do that a lot better than run the government.

I think that the Liberals will stay in power for the rest of my life because if they got elected again after they fucked up this much what would it take?

There are some candidates from the Libertarian Party running in this election.  They just aren't one of the major parties.

Same in the U.S.
But you guys have a serious tax problem over there.  It seems like your government is running too many aspects of your life.

I'm so fucking pissed. Harper is the best candidate for the Federals but these morons want that stutterring fucker Martin!!?!!??! Hopefully there's some miracle and the Conservatives get ahead, even by just a bit. But don't worry, if the Liberals get in there will be a minority and the Bloc and Conservatives will collaborate and fuck them over so there'll be another election quickly.

Let 'em run it if they want to.  Eventually, liberal ideals are destined to fail around the world, because they've consistantly proven they can't run shit, and the entire premise is based on childish immature ideals that don't work in a real society.  Eventually people will grow up and realize just how stupid they've been... I know I did.

Yeah that's what I thought too but this is the fourth time they've been elected, 11 years and continuing. Despite 2 billion wasted on the gun registry that didn't work, 1/4 billion on writing checks to Liberal-friendly companies, etc....

Canadians are fucking stupid when it comes to politics.

^ Dude, you think it's canadians? It's EVERYBODY.  Look @ America.  They think raising taxes is a GOOD thing.  It's pretty fucking simple to me...

One candidate says he'll cut your taxes, and already has twice.

Another canadidate runs on a platform PROMISING to raise your taxes...

and half of America wants to pay the government MORE money.  It blows my fucking mind the idiocy of people.  They can't even understand the basic concepts of have, and have not, or more, and less.  I mean, 2 year old shit.  2 year olds understand 3 dollars is better than 2 dollars.  Liberals don't!  It's mindblowing.

Couple of surprising things about the election:

1.  Scott Brison was elected even after leaving the Conservatives for the Liberals.

2.  Both Paul Martin's and Jack Layton's races were very close.

3.  The Bloc Party set a new record for number of seats.  Maybe Quebec will have another referendum?

4.  I'm surprised at how many seats the NDP got, I guess it's the people that were fed up with the Liberals but still don't like the Conservatives.

5.  Both a Husband and Wife team were elected in their ridings in BC (first time ever).

6.  North Surrey had an Independent winner.

1 Thing that I find interesting is that it seems Canada is starting to have a regional representative government.  The Liberals are mostly in the East and Ontario, The Bloc has Quebec, and the conservatives have the west.

I was at my MP's party tonight (James Moore).  I congratulated him and he thanked me for all the work I did.  I was happy to see him get re-elected.  There were some ladies checkin me out too  ;)

Now that it's all ove,r we out here in the West can get back to being ignored and misrepresented while Toronto will get whatever it wants (and more), while forever stuggling to become a world class city.   :P

We have the same problem here in Charlotte.  The Mayor's always on this "become a world class city" kick.  Yall are twice as large as our city, and if you're still worrying about being "world class", I guess we've got a long damn way to go.

Our Mayor is a republican, but yet he's spent billions of taxpayer dollars to fund all kinds of bullshit, and the city council has raised taxes time after time.  I've paid for a Stadium for the Hornets; a Stadium for the Panthers, a Stadium for the Bobcats, A new stadium for our minor league Baseball team which they're moving downtown, an aquatic center, a new bus station, a new convention center, tons of new parks, a restored Trolley car, and the biggest thing? 6 BILLION DOLLARS projected taxes to pay for a light-rail system... that it's projected less than 1 percent of residents will ride.

I gotta admit I like some of the stuff, i.e. the new bus station, the parks, the aquatic center, etc... but some of it's got me wondering what the fuck?  In the meanwhile, we have a historic theatre from the 20's downtown, that it would take 5 million dollars to renovate and restore completely to it's glory (this thing is unbelievable, one of the last of it's kind, decked out in chandeliers and silk, and ornamentation everywhere)... and the City Council won't do shit about it... but they'll spend 6 Billion dollars on a fuckin' train.

After looking at the results it looks like it was Ontario that fucked it up again.  Even the horrible provincial government (Liberals) with a 9% approval rating didn't help take away Liberal votes.  I think even those clowns will get back in in 2007.

I just can't see how people can reward a government that did what the Liberals did.  Don't voters think that sends a bad message?

I could whine about this forever.  Ontario voters really piss me off.  :-X

That's why I love the WEST ;D

Gurmont Grewal and his wife both won (Gurmont from my region (newton) and his wife in fleetwood)..that's pretty crazy

crazy how liberals still won like 6 seats here i believe, very surprsing....andf the one independant that won was a conservatives, but they didn't pick him to run there, so he ran anywayz....might be going back to conservatives though.

Voter turn out was the lowest ever at 60%.  In 2000 it was 64%.  Still, I think 60% is pretty good.  Isn't the US at like 30%?

Or lower.  It's horrible here.  When turnout is that low, the only people that are voting are fanatics.

Personally I think it's a duty for a citizen of a country to vote.

Lol We got what we wanted, no doubt about that. A minority Liberal govt propped up by the NDP. Thats exactly what Ontario wanted and we got it. Cant wait for that Toronto cash to come strollling in.

Canadians didnt trusr Harper with the PM

I agree 100%.  I didn't think Harper was the best man for the Job.  My vote for the conservatives was more for my MP than it was for Harper.  Harper is a wannabe Kennedy.

The Liberals ran a better campaign in the last week.  They put fear into Canadians, saying Harper will ruin the country.  Harper didn't even campaign in the last week.  Hopefully he'll step down soon.

On a positive note, the Green party got over 4% of the popular vote, which makes them eligible for federal funding.  They will receive a little over a million dollars a year for the next 4 years.  That's 10 times what they were working with in this election.

The Green Party Is Different from the marijuana party.
