The sound is alright but my complaint is Nas still ain’t up with the times...we are facing lockdown, authoritarian govt, forced injections, and censorship like never before and he thinks it’s still 2019..shit they just came out with vaxxine passports in NY and 69% of black people ain’t taking that poison so it is medical apartheid
Nas used to be a voice of the times, he was like the voice of Queensbridge on Illmatic, he did Dre’s “East West Killaz” at the height of all that—and then Stillmatic he had a lot of post 9-11 sentiment like that Nashawn joint where he’s fighting in Afghanistan and writing letters back and “Rule” and “What Goes Around” all those joints very timely, he made HipHop is Dead album right at the time rap moved away from G Unit to the skinny jeans and gay shit we have today... I mean Nas was always on rhyme (I mean time) but not anymore

musicians stop becoming consumers at a certain point .. in 2020 i bought almost every release and there was tons of great albums i told u to check which u slept on. in 2021 i’ve fallen back on consuming due to work on fatlip album + my own. i’m in artist mode.
i’ll check it eventually tho. i heard death row east and it was dope. still not touchin his best work, but def somethin i could ride out to.

Guess I don’t understand the need to try and force people to listen to an album. If i like an album, great, I don’t care if other people like it or listen to it too. Must be this social media era where everyone has to feel validated when having an opinion about something. If you like the album, cool. You posted that you like it. Now move on. I'm 9 tracks in and I gotta say this is one of the best albums I've heard in a while. Hoping the last few tracks are strong but it is solid...I like it better than King's Disease 1 as well.

don’t get it twisted, about a year or 2 ago doggy was telling me how he rather just listen to classix and i was tellin him
how stayin current wit new shit can be helpful wit bein on top of music progression .. when lost tapes 2 came out he skimmed over it once n called it bland. i was bumpin it in the whip for a month straight, tellin him to listen again until he finally did n changed his entire opinion on it + callin it classic LOL
i’m not at all opposed to bangin new shit, it just hasn’t been a priority to peep albums the day they drop as of late
doggy simply woke up at 2 am from having wet dreams about nas so he felt inclined to come in here n pop off
as for the album, on first listen, it’s dope.. not classic, but definitely some vintage nas verses on here. while hitboy is a great producer, i feel like the mixing and mastering is a bit underwhelming. anyone know who mastered this? also, the hooks are not some of nas’ best on here. outside of that, shits hard. stand out tracks = nas is good, my bible, death row east, store run, moments .. gota listen some more but i like it on first spin.

But there is one thing Nas and Eminem does well... they are already old cats but they know how to catch the vibe of new age and they keep releasing succesful records.
i just miss old days and waiting for this new vibe to be gone :)

This is one of the best new rap albums in a long time. Love how Nas updated his sound and was able to sound vintage and current on the same album.
I was surprised by most of the features, loved the EPMD verse, Eminem killed it with his verse, Lauryn Hill was great, and even the A Boogie and YG feature was good.
After about 10 listens, it just keeps getting better. Definite classic.

Should had Redman (Hit-Squad) instead of Em on that EPMD joint and at least give the beat a bit of an ol skool bump.
Eric 'green eyed bandit' Sermon should of co-produced it too.
As for the rest of the new album, it's sounds better then part I.
HB's music is once again light and easy on the ears, with Nas coasting over it.
Nasir and Hit-Boy seem to be enjoying thier new-found chemistry and the praise they gettin', so expect a part III.
Nas - King’s Disease II
Queensbridge legend Nas is one of the GOATs, responsible for one of the best rap albums of all time, plus plenty more classic Hip Hop besides. His last truly great album was 2012’s Life Is Good, his output since that one has been hit-and-miss. Last year’s King’s Disease was good, but not great. King’s Disease II is not perfect either, but it is definitely better than its predecessor – more substantial and more consistent. The first King’s Disease had a shorter tracklist and tried too hard to awkwardly balance soul sample-based east coast Hip Hop and modern trap, which made it kind of a mixed bag with lows and highs in almost equal measure. Furthermore, King’s Disease could have benefitted from a more careful selection of features, which is also the case with King’s Disease II – but to a lesser extent, fortunately. King’s Disease II really has only one throwaway song – “YKTV” featuring YG and a limp performance from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie – an artist who has no business being on a Nas album, as far as we are concerned. Most of the other features are OK – even if we’re not crazy about Eminem’s phoned-in verse on “EPMD2” (which otherwise is a fine track, if only because it is good to hear Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith on a Nas record).
Other stand-outs include “Rare”, “Death Row East”, “Count Me In”, “Store Run”, “Nas Is Good”, “Moments”, and “Nobody” (with a terrific Lauryn Hill) – Nas’ pen game is top-level and his rapping is as strong as ever, plus Hit-Boy’s production once again proves to be a good fit for Nas’ bars. Hit-Boy’s production on King’s Disease II continues to modernize Nas’ sound, staying in tune with the polished sound palette of its predecessor. Even those who don’t really care for everything Hit-Boy did on this album production-wise will have to admit that the modern blends are done in a tasteful way and Nas gels well with them.
It looks like Nas is finally ready to comfortably fulfill the role of an elder Hip Hop statesman, which is his due after 30 years on top of the game. King’s Disease II might go down as a late-career classic, and even it is not in the same league as Nas classics such as Illmatic (1994), It Was Written (1996), Stillmatic (2001), The Lost Tapes (2002), God’s Son (2002), Distant Relatives (with Damian Marley, 2010), and Life Is Good (2012), it is a damn good Nas project.
