In Miami he wasnt demanding the same type of defense from opponents. I guess in LA, opponents thought they could double off of other LA players in order to take Shaq out of the game. The game plan for defenses was usually to try and take Shaq out of the game...rather then Kobe. Why? Shaq was far more disruptive to a defense.

I get what you mean, I was just trying to make some fun out of that. After watching Shaq and Kobe over the years, neither one has presented themselves to me as a guy that I would live and die with, they both made it clear that they didn't get along and their egos were too big for the same team. Laker dynasty dysfunctions:

They lasted five seasons and won three titles to two and none for Jerry, Elgin, and Wilt.

Now, O'Neals problem became Jackson. O'Neal had accepted Jackson's jibes at first, calling Jackson, "my white father," but that was when O'Neal was still in the 325-pound range. Now he was coming in heavier every fall and taking half the season to play himself into shape.
At the end of the 2001 season, he had vowed to come back at his rookie weight, under 300, as a lean, mean rebounding machine. Instead, he spent the summer tending to foot injuries and came back closer to 400. Bill Walton noted, "Shaq is a virtual house. If Charles Barkley can get on a scale on national TV, why can't he?"
Replied O'Neal "I'll do that when Bill Walton takes his toupee off." When he was told Walton didn't wear one, O'Neal tried, "look, doesn't matter how much you weigh when you can play....How many rings did Bill Walton get anyway?"

Shaq vs. Phil 2:
Jackson was so worried (about Shaq) now, it even showed. He talked to O'Neal about turning it up, but their discussion didn't go well. Using the press to press O'Neal, Jackson announced, "I had a heated conversation with Shaq, actually, about getting actively involved in chasing the ball down. He said, basically, his toe (hurt)."
O'Neal was boycotting the press, as he had been for weeks. When one of the guys followed him as he walked to his car, O'Neal told him, "Ask Phil, he knows every other fucking thing."
Game 3 was a nail-biter, in which the Lakers nearly bit eachothers heads off. In the second quarter, Malik Rose took 2 offensive rebounds over Shaq. In the next time out, Jackson said something to O'Neal, who smirked and waved him away. Moments later, as Jackson tapped his clipboard with a marker, O'Neal turned away again; this time Brian Shaq stepped between them.
O'Neal wound up with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Kobe took over at the end, scoring 11 of his 31 in the 4th quarter, and the Lakers won, 99-89.
They won game 4 too, 87-85, with O'Neal, who was blocked out by Danny Ferry, reaching over him to keep a key offensive rebound alive late in the game. "I knew I had to get it," O'Neal said. "I didn't feel like hearing Phil's mouth."

The pattern was the same. O'Neal had foot problems over the summer, came in heavy, took months to get into shape, and got mad at Jackson.

A leader would not demand the ball when you have three of us besides you, not to mention the teammates that he's gone to war with for the past 3 years...By the way, you also don't threaten not to play defense and rebound if you don't get the ball every time down the floor."

The game plan for defenses was usually to try and take Shaq out of the game...rather then Kobe. Why? Shaq was far more disruptive to a defense.

His rap video against Lakers' Kobe Bryant included vulgarity and a racially derogatory word. Maricopa County sheriff says he won't condone such activity.

Apparently, the Maricopa County Police Department can do without Shaq.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio wants Shaquille O'Neal to return his special deputy sheriff's badges to the Arizona county because of profanity and a racially derogatory word the Phoenix Suns center used while mocking Kobe Bryant in a freestyle rap video that surfaced Monday on the Internet.
"I do believe in free speech, but I don't believe that in law enforcement to use this type of language is proper," Arpaio said. "We set an example, a moral, ethical example and I would like to think that basketball players and all athletes should be setting a positive attitude for our young people."
The two-minute video, originally posted on TMZ.com, features O'Neal saying, among other things, that "Kobe couldn't do without me," referring to Bryant and the Lakers' recent loss to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, some six years after the Lakers ended a run of three straight titles with O'Neal on the team.
O'Neal also posed a profane question to Bryant multiple times, and used a racial slur.
"He has some type of representation of this office," Arpaio said. "I just want my badges back. I don't want anybody to say that he has my badges and I condone this type of activity."
After the video surfaced O'Neal told ESPN.com that the rap was "all done in fun."
But his lyrical stylings didn't sit well with the no-nonsense sheriff, who is known for feeding his prisoners green bologna and forcing them to wear pink underclothes.
"Is that an excuse? That you're joking? What's that got to do with it?" Arpaio said. "You've still got to be held responsible for your actions."
Arpaio said O'Neal left him with little choice because the sheriff fired a cadet in April for using the same racial slur in the presence of other officers.
"I can't have a double-standard," Arpaio said. "I can't fire one deputy for using a word and just let him get a pass when he's got my badges. . . . You do the right thing, no matter who he is."
Arpaio gave O'Neal a special deputy badge in January 2006 after O'Neal visited Maricopa County. O'Neal was given a second badge when he was promoted to the rank of special-deputy colonel of his posse, a volunteer organization of crime-fighting citizens, after he and the Miami Heat won the NBA championship in 2006.
O'Neal formerly served as a reserve officer in Los Angeles and in the Miami Beach Police Department while he played with the Heat.
After being traded to the Suns in February, he joined the Tempe Police Department, where he serves as a volunteer. Lieutenant Mike Horn, a spokesman for Tempe Police, said the department won't ask O'Neal to leave.
"This is an issue between Sheriff Joe and Shaq," Horn said. "Nothing has changed with us."
