Have you heard the new album already? What did you think about it? I haven't heard it yet, so i can't comment on it, but i've been waiting for this album for a long time and i can't wait to check it out soon.
-
really strong album, but about 15 years late.
if this came out before or after eastsidaz it'd be classic.
-
After a first spin, it's a solid album, production is on top

The west is back !!
-
Must've be real strain for Traycee coming home n tha hip hop is gone when he lef he was on top
-
After my first listen album sounds pretty damn solid.
The thing that has gotten me excited about this project is the DPG & West showing unity for Tray Deee's album, seriously who would of thought in 2016 that we would get a Tray Deee solo album with features from Snoop, Kurupt, Soopafly, Techniec , Goldie Loc, Xzibit, Kokane, Crooked I & DJ Quik, with production from Fred Wreck & Battlecat. I'm pretty damn happy 8)
-
Cross-posted from the other thread:
I listened to a number of tracks.
Well, first off...gangsta rap is so utterly stale. Tray Deee is a very good rapper and has always been, but his subject matter has never been anything but obsolete gang talk and this album does not seem to be different (nor was I or anyone else expecting it to be, I am sure). Basically, what Tray Deee raps about in 2016 was already clichéd and played out when he recorded the first Eastsidaz album. Boring to the nth degree and unadventurous to boot! Granted, this is real in the sense that this is what Tray Deee's life is/was like but that does not make it anymore trite. Clearly, this is not just Tray Deee's fault but more generally that of the westcoast in general. Move on and take risks.
Now there's no denying the man can spit. Like I said, he's very good on a technical level and consistently so. To me though, this only exacarbates that he simply has nothing interesting to spit. A pity.
Bitch, snitch, gangsta, rich/
money, crime, doing time/
Played this card from the heart,
cause honestly/
those words are enough to sum you up Tray Deee/
show some growth and until then/
ya should've read some more while in the pen/
expand your vocab, extend your rap/
it's your D-I-C-tionary you ought to grab/
and then -perhaps- we'll see/
a truly Big Tray Deee/
who can really impress me verbally.
Now, the guests I heard all did their thing but can you blame them for not putting in a great effort? It is not as if Tray Deee was forcing them to adept. I will say that I found most of the guests I heard to flow well, which may actually be because of our host here who is an effortless spitter and certainly has excellent flow. Unfortunately, his flow is always the same. It does emphasise to me though that Tray Deee is better suited to guest verses; they allow him to shine while he can not carry an album by himself (at least not with his normal/perpetual style). When listening to these tracks, you tend to yearn for something to break the monotony thanks to generally mediocre beats and Tray Deee's repetitiveness, his talent aside. By the way, I did not think Soopafly and Snoop performed poorly on their guest verses as so many people here seem to think. Besides, when was the last time we heard these two on the same track? That has grown into something to cherish.
As mentioned before, the guest list itself is nice and almost a welcome throwback. Even so, Tray Deee chose to surround himself with people who are basically westcoast relics like himself plus a number of (relative) nobodies plus Snoop and Crooked I, who may fall into one of those two categories anyway. There do not seem to be any guests who would have forced Tray Deee himself to step up his game and that is a pity.
So, generally speaking: boring and unmemorable but not because Tray Deee is a bad rapper per se.

I just got ahold of it, stand out track after first listen acouple tracks in is Hold Up! feat. Soopafly & Snoop produced by Soopafly. But the whole album goes hard and is bangin'. Diirty OG & Outlawz track is good, Problem&Crooked I track is good, there alot of em!
What ya'll think? Im gonna post again when I heard all tracks 2 times! 8)
-
there could be some meech wells, jelly roll and hi-tek productions too...
-
shit's banging....best Westcoast album this year bar none.... i was most disappointed by the Soopafly track. i expected it to be the best track with all them vets and Soopafly on production... instead its autotune and trap beats...
the best song to me is the Eastsidaz / Battlecat track "Eastdside Finest" towards the end....

-
album sucks... wack ass shit. even fred and bc songs are very ordinary.
-
I can't find a download link anywhere so I refuse to believe this is actually out :P
-
heard 2 songs and liked both, gonna buy the CD to listen to the rest
-
really strong album, but about 15 years late.

They say better late than never but agreed 15 too late even for a solid album, the appreciation isn't the same as when he dropped Gen List.
yeas, i like it, and order the cd, but i am an ol school g funk, gangsta rap fan.
and 2016 is NOT the gangsta rap time/area.
-
"Hold Up" is the best autotune track in years. "Hard & Rugged" is good ol' Tray Deee shit. "Diirty Outlawz" makes me wanna hear more from Diirty OGz, Im looking forward to that album. "General's Salute" with Prodigy sounds like some grimy Eastcoast Mobb Deep shit but I like it. "Moved Up" came together nice, they stay using autotune but it sounds good! I had higher expectations about "Tell Me About It" with Problem & Crooked I, sounds aight thou... "Eastside Finest" with Goldie Loc sounds like the good ol Eastsidaz shit and DJ Quik comes off nice on "How West Was Won". Would be good to hear Quik himself produce that one but still, it's nice. "This World" produced by Battlecat is a nice way to end the album.

Still been listening to this album and really enjoying it but I just wish the audio quality was better, the mixing really lets it down.
Good to see Tray Deee taking a shot at Rick Ross too on "On the Blocc" 8)

This is mixed really badly. It's a shame because there are some good tracks on here. To the guy who wants a "link", it's all over youtube, download the audio if you won't support it.
-
Good album, been bumpin' this a lot lately. There's a few songs i don't like, but that's because of the beats. Has anybody purchased the album yet?
-
More than 50$ for one cd on his website, thanks but no.

yeah the mixing really brought the album down for me, pretty disappointing... if the sound were on the level of at least Bishop or Ras Kass' joints I would support this no question

OCD!!!

Just got this message from Supreme Circle Music Group :
International Shipping Issue!
Hi,
First we want to thank you for the support, and for your purchase of Big Tray Deee's "The 3rd Coming". We want to apologize for the delay we have been having issues with the shipping. They are charging us $32.33 for international shipping. We have been searching diligently for a more inexpensive route to ship the orders. Unfortunately we have not been able to find lower rate for shipping. So we have to send out invoices for the balance due towards shipping to proceed with orders or issue a full refund for international orders that don't want to pay for the shipping.
Our deepest apologies, we had no idea a cd would be so expensive to ship to fans/family!
Please be expecting an invoice regarding the shipping, and then you can make your decision whether or not to proceed further with your order.
Example of Payment brake down of the balance that will be due:
CD = $15.98 (paid) / balance owed and invoiced $16.35 = $32.33 for shipping
So what ever you have paid for the shipping the balance will just be due in order to complete your purchase.
!!!! Yeah you see it right $32.33 for international shipping a cardboard sleeve !!! WTF ??? Someone needs to give them directions to nearest posta office were they will pay not more than $14.... this is outrageous... so total $47.32 for a cardboard sleeve... I am a fan but f**k it....

I do rock with all of these but I still stand by my opinion that the mixing/mastering should have been better, and I wish the joint with Snoop had a sound more like the Battlecat joints as opposed to what they came with lol

so if somebody doesn't like a particular album from an artist but is still a fan of that artist then all previous support for older releases goes out the window? also what if they don't fuck with ordering things online or digital downloads? lol

These are the standout tracks to me.. album has its moments, but all in all a rather disappointing album, imo. (Considering Trays discography)
The mixing also lets the album down, like several others pointed out.. Tray should be working with Goldie on a new Eastsidaz-album, imo.
-
yeah i dont like the beats ..sounds like a generic 2000's album..a few nice tracks like Hard & Rugged
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_pd9bgLLdo
-
Finally seen this at the shop n had to grab a copy .. Halfway through and its soundin pretty solid. The Fredwreck beat was a let down.. the joint by soopafly was nice... Liked the coniyac and outlaws joints too .. Felt the xzibit joint coulda used a verse from x .. Prodigy track was solid
I'll drop some more feedback when I get through the whole album, but TBH the production value doesn't sound on par wit the diirty ogz project

how does it compare to gl2?

to me 3rd coming>gl2
but just a lil bit better...

3rd Coming was Tray Deee's return so it was a more exciting release! I enjoyed it more than GL2 which is still a cool release imo and Diirty OGz I dont have any memories except the fact that its Kurupt worst performance ever on a album... his lyrics trash and his delivery is close to boring sometime

Yup! Kurupt's delivery on BlaQKout was dope imo even if lyrics weren't all that, he was flowing right
