I would like to hear this one...
-
Listening to it now... Track #2 samples the exact same song as that new RZA single (I assume it's a sample).
-
this shit is fuckin killer
Stic.man came on some other other shit!!!!!!!
-
Sounds really dope after a quick listen. The production is dark for most of the time and Nas sounds very focused.
I do have to say that Nas should stop working with Salaam Remi, that beat is one of the most boring thigns I've heard in my life.
-
when the hell is nas gonna get back with dj premier. that's hip-hop right there.
-
link please 8)
-
might hold off on downloading this and seeing if it's any good and coppin it
-
Not listening, not gonna spoil it. When does this drop?

So this albums called, Untitled..........wtf?
yea when they told nas he couldnt make it "nigger" he was like w/e fuck it, and made it "Untitled"...pretty dope IMO.
-
can i catch a link to? thanks
-
Yeah, Nas needs to work with better producers. Now that Nas is on Def Jam he should start workin with Just Blaze/Kanye more. Plus some more mainstream stuff would be nice - he got at coolndre/polow on this one, he should keep that going. hook back up with timbo, dre, etc...
I'm not expecting much out of this release, but maybe I'll be surprised.
-
Not Bad
Will Be Bumping Tonight
-
Wow, this is way doper than I thought it would be so far
Breathe, World Go Round, Hero are really dope and actually have hype beats
"America" is a return to form from Nas... sounds like some Stillmatic - Ur Da Man shit... I'm sure this will be one of my fav Nas songs as time goes on
-
"America" is a return to form from Nas... sounds like some Stillmatic - Smokin shit... I'm sure this will be one of my fav Nas songs as time goes on
Produced by Norwegian pop/r'n'b producers Stargate.. didn't think they would fit Nas' sound, but I was wrong.
-
bumpin' this now... shit is nice so far
-
downloading now 8)

Testify is my track... Nas got flows!
LISTEN TO IT HERE (http://copthat.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=79:nas-quntitledq&catid=18:previews&Itemid=31)

yeah great idea, do what every other motherfucker in the game is doing. that's a big reason why nearly everything that drops is bullshit.

I never listened to it from beginning to end. I'm not a fan of Nas.

Exactly. Nas has his own dark sound workin with the producers he works with. Why fuck it up tryin to make an album that sounds like a TI or JayZ album. Two completely different styles.
-
this album is great, better than I expected it to be. Overall, this is a way more consistent and enjoyable album than Hip Hop Is Dead.
-
N.I.G.G.E.R. (The Slave And The Master) is mixed differently than first version, @ 1:52
-
great album
not a song you want to skip
-
the messages are crazy.
"sly fox", "america" and others got some crazy content
-
Album of the year so far. What I like about Nas is that he isn't afraid to take a chance with lesser name producers and still comes out better than expected. No garbage. No filler tracks. Go get this! Real hip hop to the fullest.
-
Somebody hook me up with a link?
-

But the point is that HES never done it before. Getting mainstream beats but not changing his style of spit would be dope imo. At least it allows him to try something different - even Nastradamus was half normal nas shit.
-

-
last few days I've only listened to the first couple tracks
Game's verse on his guest spot was dope, his 1 was better than Nas' 2, Nas got outshined
-
queens get the money is probably the worst track... i dont know how anyone can call that a beat.
did anyone else think Game was Nas when he first started his verse?
-

everytime i hear game n nas on the same track i get confused lol
-

did anyone else think Game was Nas when he first started his verse?
the 1st time i listened to it, i did. and queens get the money is the intro, so the beat isnt goin to be unbeleievable, his flow was what made that song mad good.
-

Fuck, yeah! This track is perfect. The beat almost destroy my speakers.
-

You Owe Me off Nastradamus was a Timbo beat. It doesn't fit Nas' style. Just like Oochie Wally didn't fit his style. He went the route you're talking about w/ Nastradamus and that was easily his worst album of his career. Hip Hop is Dead had him w/ Scott Storch and Will I Am. Doesn't his new one have DJ Toomp? How's that for some mainstream production?
No but really, the main reason Nas stays relevant is because he doesn't hop on every trend out there to try to conform w/ whats on the radio and MTV/BET. Instead of dumbing his shit down, he's being innovative going with lesser known cats (but not exclusively) and taking on some real subjects.
-
I would also like to see Nas working with A list producers. But I'm not talking about Timbaland on some techno shit but his Nas sounds only with better quality. He had Will.I.Am, Scott Storch, Dre, Kanye... on HHID and it worked great because he didn't adapt to them but the producers adapted to the Nas sound. Same with Nigger, we have Polow Da Don and IMO Hero is the best club/hype joint since In Da Club. Maybe add some Just Blaze, Hi-Tek and Khalil.
And I'm not saying he should quit working with his regular producers, Sticman on Nigger was great but Salaam Remi is just awful these days.
-

Don't we get enough albums with those producers? Super producers are bad for hip hop.
-
Im happy with the beats on the album. If I didn't know who did the beats, I would of guessed they were big time producers.
-
Not really. Everybody these days have unknown cheap producers and maybe a track or two from a super producer like J.R., Timbaland, Swizz Beatz... The only one that has nothing but A list producers on his albums is Game and it worked so far but you just gotta have that cohesive sound and vibe and not be all over the place. And I'm not even talking about having all these producers, fuck it, a Nas cd produced by only Just Blaze could be a classic.
-

i wish that would happen

I agree.

:o
-
"Untitled" is a great song, so far my favorite from the album. Who produced it?
-
fuck it, a Nas cd produced by only Just Blaze could be a classic.
i wish that would happen
how about just blaze,kanye,9th wonder, and dj premier?

Here comes a more sober, balanced quick review..

01. Queens Get The Money
Produced by Jay Electronica
Not the best intro, but the lyrical content is very good, though I tend to skip this as it gets repetitive. 3.75 of 5
02. You Can’t Stop Us Now (Feat Eban Thomas of The Stylistics & The Last Poets)
Produced by Salaam Remi
Just as I got tired of the latest RZA single, here comes a track with nearly the exact same beat/same sample.
Well pulled off though, the chorus is very good, and Nas comes dope. 4.25 of 5
03. Breathe
Produced by J. Myers & Dustin Moore
A skipper for me, beat is uninspired, and I think I've heard Nas do something similar before, his flow sounds a lil forced at times. 3.25 of 5
04. Make The World Go Round (Feat Chris Brown & The Game)
Produced by Cool & Dre
Co-produced by The Game
I honestly expected more from a Nas/Game/Cool & Dre track.. not the best Nas/Game collabo, by far. 2.5 of 5
05. Hero (Feat Keri Hilson)
Produced by Polow Da Don
Somewhat inventive original beat by Polow, crazy at times, Hilson does her thing, and Nas flows good the track with a good concept. 4.5 of 5
06. America
Produced by Stargate
Possibly the best track on the album, this is the Nas we want to hear, over a well crafted cinematic beat. Subject matter is excellent, and flawless flow. 4.75 of 5
07. Sly Fox
Produced by stic.man of Dead Prez
Stic's dark beat fits Nas flows very good, great rhymes, you can hear new details in the lyrics each time you hear it. 4.5 of 5
08. Testify
Produced by Mark Batson
A little too slow for my taste, though it's pulled off very good for a slow track. 3.75 of 5
09. N.I.G.G.E.R. (The Slave And The Master)
Produced by DJ Toomp
Pretty good track, but it's not really standing out in any way, a little too slow again, imo. 3.75 of 5
10. Louis Farrakhan
Produced by stic.man of Dead Prez
I'm feeling this, good beat and good subject matter, Nas flows great over this track.
I think they left off the Mike Tyson track because of this track. 4.25 of 5
11. Fried Chicken (Feat Busta Rhymes)
Produced by Mark Ronson
Hilarious concept, double meanings all over the place, with a funky Ronson beat. Good hiphop, with 2 of hiphops finest performers. 4.5 of 5
12. Project Roach (Feat The Last Poets)
Produced by Eric Hudson
A somewhat weird concept track, should have been left off the album.
Be A Nigger Too, Mike Tyson, Esco Let's Go, Association, are all far better than this. 2 of 5
13. Ya’ll My Niggas
Produced by J. Myers
Nas comes off dope on this track, but something about the track makes it too repetitive. 3.5 of 5
14. We’re Not Alone (Feat Mykel)
Produced by stic.man of Dead Prez
Stic did a great job on this album, and this track is def. a grower, some philosophic stuff, food for thought. 4.5 of 5
15. Black President (Feat Johnny Polygon)
Produced by DJ Green Lantern
Great track, familiar Green Leezy beat, with Nas on the revolutionary tip, flowing great over this upbeat track. 4.75 of 5
OVERALL: 8.5 of 10
Digression:
I can not avoid to think about how good this album could have been if some tracks were replaced.
Be A Nigger Too, Mike Tyson, Esco Let's Go, Association, and also War Is Necessary, would all lift the album.
And we haven't heard bonus tracks like Like Me, Proclamation, and more.
-
And we haven't heard bonus tracks like Like Me, Proclamation, and more.
Can't wait to hear them, by the way. 8)
-
damn after a really quick first listen I really like
Hero
Y'all my nigga
We're not alone (great)
Black president
America (strong track but the hook is annoying as fuck)
Breathe
Testify (maybe too slow, but a perfect beat to chill in the middle of the album)
Fried Chicken (way too short)
dunno why but I may be the only one who ain't feelin' Sly Fox (atleast beat-wise)
sounds good after a first listen, I like most of the production
who would say its better than Hip Hop Is Dead?
-
after further review there are some good tracks on here
but it's just too much, I find myself getting bored
it's like enough with the all the black this black that shit, it gets old real fast, we get it
-

Its like a themed album. all the songs mesh well together, nothing is out of place. IMO, we need more albums like this, instead of having mixtape-like LPs with alot of unfocused bars/songs thrown together
-
I do respect the idea and the fact he made a themed album, also he's not exactly trying to target the masses
but personally I just can't get into it that much
Nas speaks truth about certain subjects, he also can be a bit over the top as well
I'm listening through, playing NBA2K8, and I just take off my headphones thinking "jesus, shut the fuck up"
some of these songs just drag on and on about all sorts of history and propaganda
first of all, if anyone ever listened to Kool Keith, they'd know he's been on this subject before
Nas isn't the first to talk about dumb black people being slaves to the industry and who's fuckin up and lookin bad etc.
if you're looking for this type of preaching then I'd say it's an A+ album
to be honest I think Nas thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is
I'm just not tryin to smoke some weed to "N.I.G.G.E.R. (The Slave and The Master)".... that's all
-
the album is pretty sick...theres a handful of outstanding tracks on there, no doubt! "Hero" is the standout track on the album IMO, could be one of Nas' best tracks ever.
-
dunno why but I may be the only one who ain't feelin' Sly Fox (atleast beat-wise)
I'm not either. This and the intro are my two least listened to tracks.
who would say its better than Hip Hop Is Dead?
Too early for me to say. The sounds are pretty different - I think the standouts of this one are better, but HHiD is overall more cohesive and better

it is the best song on the cd. But not ever..............

i was feelin "HHID" but there were a few bad tracks - who killed it and blunt ashes was avg hell
i honestly havent found a track on this yet i didnt rate 4/5 or higher.

it wasnt bad at all, like 3.5/5 but i didnt rate a single track on this album lower than 4

theres a bunch of songs on this id give less than a 4... the intro, sly fox, slave and the master, fried chicken...
hhid only has 2 wack songs imo (who killed it and where are they now - the remix of that is amazing though, and replaces the original on my playlists)
btw, anyone else notice a couple censors on this cd? it happened to him on his last album with sylvia robinsons name being editted out, and now on this one the title of the album, the title of the farakkhan joint, la reid and some other guys name, and part of games verse (the word homo?) were all censored. strange.

i highly doubt you will be dissapointed.

Fried Chicken = The "I Gave You Power" of the New Millennium
-
Not listening, not gonna spoil it. When does this drop?
shiiit me too, its killing me though still, lol. Nas a true hiphop icon!
-
a couple of rotations in the car in
and i have to say the album is still pretty good, really feeling the game track now
breathe though is a straight rip off of Fabulous

both dope tracks, but different in mood, tempo, topic, etc..

not gonna bump this.... waiting for this to come out

I don't think so. Although his lyrics/subjects are more substantial on this one.

same concept and same punchline
maybe im being critical but i find it similar

haha, wtf?
I gotta say, I'm loving the album so far. One thing I would change is the opening track, Nas usually starts off an album strong but not this time IMO.

na the intro was nas bein the lyricist that he is. he just spit strong bars, even threw a shot at 50...great intro, IMO.

The lyrics are fine but I'm really not feeling the production. A beat like the "Stillmatic (Intro)" would have been nice.
-
The intro beat is on some 1920's New York City Broadway shit... its sort of fly in a way
-
its cool but imno the be a nigga too intro was better
"the nerve of yall to call escobar racist // nigger nigger nigger nigger nigger nigga hatred"
such a powerful way to start the album.
-
i thought 'queens get the money' was the perfect way to start off the album - nas straight spittin; set the tone for me. Got me in the "ohh shit nas gon be for real spittin on this album" mood ;D
-
Nas could have spit the intro accapella and i still would have been drawn in to the album
-
Nigger may just be better then hhid but ppl gotta strt hatin on tht album cuz tht album was sick! it was atleast a 3.5 or 4/5 album.
-
The intro beat is on some 1920's New York City Broadway shit... its sort of fly in a way
That beat is ill.
-
This came out better than i expected. It's almost a whole step above 'Hip Hop Is Dead'. It seems he fits this more political concept more than what his last album was like. The only track I would get rid of is "Testify". That shits boring.
-
The "Queens Get The Money" beat might grow on me. I didn't even like the "Made You Look" beat at first as hard as that is to believe. Now I love that song.
-
Queens get the money is that shit. It open on the piano then you hear a roar/revving of a car like something is being born, it's the beginning of a race followed by Nas spitting that vicious shit. I love the track. Every time I hear the first 30 seconds I get the image of a monster being born. Classic rap.
-
Just gave this album a complete spin from front to back and I loved it!! "America" "Sly Fox" "Nigger" and "Were Not Alone" were my favorite tracks but I thought the whole album was great!
-
"Louis Farrakhan" and "Ya'll my niggas" too. 8)
-
album of the year thus far!

I can't believe the DJ Khalil-produced "What It Is (Esco Lets Go)" isn't on the retail version! Maybe the song was just so awesome that it outshined everything else on the album. By the way, I haven't heard any tracks yet except for Slave & Master, and Hero. I'm waiting for July 15th.
How could he leave "Be A Ni99aToo" and "What It Is" off the final tracklisting?!?
-
I thought the album was pretty good, way better than HHID...will be buying this one.

when you hear the album you wont be dissapointed. "Be A Nigga Too" might have been one of the weaker songs on album. the other one, just didnt make it.
-
Real dope album. Classic hip-hop. He seems to have really put alot of thought into this project. All the songs have meaning and there are tons of powerful statements. "Y'all My Niggas" and "You Can't Stop Us Now" are my main joints.
-
It's droppin tuesday, all of yall that are feelin this need to go out and BUY THIS IN THE STORE!!!!
Real hip hop needs to be supported!
-
Nah, Nas is one of my favorite artists and this album is fantastic but my days of paying for music are over. The CD will end up like the cassette tape and the 8-track in no time.
He's gonna have to tour if he wants money.

It has dick to do with cd's being obsolete, it's about supporting artists that do real shit like this. I'll buy the cd, rip it into my comp, rip it into my car and prolly never touch the cd again. Your perspective is fucked.

I cop all my albums since artists relasin they tapes for free now.

So you buy it then put it away and never see it again? To me, that's a waste of money. I just don't see the point in buying a CD when I will literally NEVER listen to it.

That's what i'm sayin. I never cared for Be a Nigga too, but Unless there were sampling clearance issues, it's moronic to leave Esco Let's Go off the album. I felt the same way when he left "Serious" w/AZ unreleased, but that nigga Nas is famous for leaving some of his best material off the album. I think "Cops Keep Firing" shoulda been on the album too
-
Esco Let's Go I think is not a Nas track, it's a DJ Khaled song to be included on the upcoming Khaled album "We Global."

No, I put it away in one of my cd books. You're looking at it like some obsolete plastic disc that costs you $10. You really should be thinking of it as you cosigning and endorsing Nas for what he stands for and helping make it more likely that he will continue doing records like this. Nas is a legend and continues making very good thought provoking Hip Hop. So when he does drop a record that is as dope is this one is going to be, it's crucial to support it. If Nas pushes big numbers with this release (which I think he's going to) it will get peoples attention and show them that not everything has to be Soulja Boy. Not saying the whole game is gonna change, but it shows that you can still release true music and have it be successful.

Sounds good, everyone has their thing, if you choose to spend you're money for that, that's cool.
I personally don't really care is Soulja Boy (I've never even heard one song from him) is the number one star in the world and Nas is homeless, so buying an album just to support it doesn't do it for me.
Hip-hop Is Dead is probably the last album I actually bought and I bought all 9 Nas albums but now I just don't care enough to buy CDs anymore.
-
Cd's will never be obsolete
-
This cd is classic, I've been playing it non stop in my ipod.
to me it has the same feel as Common's album BE, only the beats on this album are darker, which is perfect production for nas's style.
NaS should really do more soulfull tracks with kanye.

ITs a great cd i culd listen to every single song without skippin a track....but to call it a classic before it has even been released yet is judging the album way to fast, classic gets thrown around way to much...im not sayin this isnt classic but we have to wait atleast a year or so.
-
I've only listened to about 5 songs off the album so far. I'm buying this shit tomorrow so I can hear the rest 8)

i already said they dont have to be as good as illmatic.

This album shits on Illmatic and its green wit' corn too... Illmatic was tha 1st (*east*) rap album i discovered by myself and feel in love wit it. but "nigger" farts Illmatic gas all in ya ears. from tha beats to tha subject matter 2 tha whole CONCEPT, u have 2 admit RAP as a whole is comin' back STRONG and its gona b deadlier than b4.

seeing as how its different times (94'/08') theres a big difference in tha material of music. Illmatic is a classic (not denyin that... fuck no) BUT NaS has made an album better than Illmatic. Now i know this is a question that cant be answered but think about it 10 yrs from now I can GUARENTEE that you'll play Nigger b4 Illmatic anyday. Nobody lissens 2 music from tha 40's anymore except that generation, and they will tell you in a heartbeak that their generation put out better music (see how their opinion is bias and unopened to anything new- im sure u have grandparents who will never in tha light of day play a Tech 9 album). Get fucked up (if u do) and sit to urself and play Illmatic and then play Nigger and I can guarentee that u can feel Nigger more (if ur black- yes i know this sounds prejudice). Illmatic was samples and drum loops and story lines and thats it, Nigger is real music (live instruments, song structures) wit' story lines and concepts ("Fried Chicken"). Nigger is artistically NaS' best album, so therefore 4 tha sake of music that justifies it as bein better. now thats my opinion and i dont wana sound elitist but u can ask music skalarz and they'll say tha same thing, matter of fact ask ya friends and see wat they think
