Ever since DJ Quik and Kurupt teamed up for the classic "Can't Go Wrong" from Kurupt's "Space Boogie" album, fans have been requesting a full-length project from the two legends. With the upcoming release of "Blaqkout", it's safe to say that this collabo project is not only one of this summer's most anticipated new albums, but of all of 2009.

Naturally, snippets and radio rips of different songs have been leaking the past few weeks, allowing fans to get their first taste of music from the album. "Whatcha Wanna Do" and "Hey Playa!" are two songs that made their rounds online and they received mixed reviews, part of the reason being the poor sound quality. And since you shouldn't really base your opinion on a low quality rip, it's time for Dubcnn to let these two exclusives off so everyone can get the crystal clear experience.

when quik was live in the studio with warren yesterday, he played another 2 different tracks which were unbelievably dope.
i was hopin those 2 tracks wouldve been premiered instead, hehe.

I know most people aren't feeling the 2nd song that much on here, I never really liked it from what I've heard before.. But with this better quality version I can stand it a lil more. Its still pretty cleanly produced, but I understand what Quik was tryna do.. Like they said, Hey Playa should be released to the radio and other internet outlets and What U Wanna Do is gonna be for the Club Djs. I can hear it played at clubs n shit. Quiks tryna make another fixxers type song that outta area markets might bang like the south. Cuz westcoast lovers will prob get his album anyway, he just wanted to broaden his numbers a bit.. Plus it was good to hear Yo Yo on the mic again!

It'll get more hate here, cuz if u come to this forum, odds are u really love Westcoast sounding music.. But just hearing Fuck Yall and Hey Playa has me excited to hear this new album!

take out the sample that replays over and over and we can work with it... shit just falls apart in the hook

maybe they should recreate it so it doesnt sound so off. as it is it just sounds like some hobos babbling over a dope track

What CHa Gonna Do. A fixxers beat, Quik rapping about herpes ridden vagina although he's 40 already. Well they didn't even try on this one.

Post by: Matty on April 06, 2009, 11:31:05 AM: after some more spins hey playa is still insane but i agree with some of the other comments that the beat drowns out the vocals a little too much. i hope this isn't the finished mix and that quik adjusts the levels or plays around with the volume of the vocal sample during the verses. it's still great as it is though and not too busy. it's more a mixing issue. maybe removing the vocal sample from parts of the track would be an option too.

I'm not a big fan of long vocalsamples going on while people are rapping, it's a little noisy...but the hook was hot, and the drums bangin'. "Whatcha Wanna Do" is pretty annoying, but the drums on it are real cool, and the rappin' is good. Hook is bad, though, and that lead-melody gets on my nerves pretty quik. "Fuck Y'all" is my favorite so far... Lookin' forward to the album.

Kurupt seems to be rapping more about what the song is about (drinking with girls). Not sure why Quik is going on about bringing nightmares to life or some shit. But damn I wish they were both on the same page for this track because a few changes and this shit could be big.

word, ok... i checked it out properly. i like it more, but it still sounds overcrowded. I really think replaying the sample would make it sound alot better
