So, which is it ?
The albums have the same feel to it, due to all the samples, and with Kanye West doing 95% of both albums, save a few cuts.
I dunno yet, I feel that the production on LR was better, because BE was too minimalistic and became a lil boring, but then again Common got better rhymes than Kanye.
-
Be, no contest.
-
haven't heard Late Registration yet, so right now BE. I like that CD, and it's a cool CD to just relax and chill to.
-
Late Registration, no contest.
-
I think right now it's BE. LR hasn't really sunk in yet. Right now it's not all that good to me. But it took a while for BE to really sink in.
-
Late Registration. The production is too crisp and polished. Kanye obviously isn't a great MC like Common but Late Registration overall is a better album.
Both great albums though.
-
well, mc-wise, common shits all over kanye. the production of kanye is innovative and good/commerical/appealing at the same time.. so yea.. as I rather go with lyrics/raps, I like common's album more, but I can easily understand why certain ppl like kanye's more.

BE became a lil boring
Late Registration
-
Be
-
Be by a good margin
-
Be
-
BE = Classic
-
For me Late Registration by a landslide
-
As far as MC skills go, Be no question. And as far as production goes, I say Be also. Both albums have the same feel to it, but for some reason are Kanye's beats better on Be than LR imo. The production on LR is top notch though, but the beats on Be appeal more to me than LR.
So overal its definitely Be, but I guess its too early to judge.
-
"Late Registration" is a very good album but "BE" is defedly better ! BE = Classic
-
i know im gonna catch alotta flack for this but i say late registration because i cant listen to common very much. i think hes a great lyracist and i respect him and all that shit but his flow just sounds boring and redundant to me. Kanye isnt a great emcee but he puts alotta work into his lyrics, theyre clever and hes more interesting to me
-
even though i like Late Reg. ya as far as mc skills Be kills Kanye but Kanye comes up with fresh new shit that seems to work alota times
-
''Be'' hands down. Although I am a little biased since I'm a bigger fan of Common than Kanye. Kanye's still nice though.
-
Late Registration. Beats and lyrics aside, just the production and mixing alone is some of the best I've ever heard on a hip-hop record.
-
Late registration
-
Be...
-
Late Registration - 11 (36.7%)
Be - 13 (43.3%)
Equally good - 3 (10%)
Equally boring - 3 (10%)
Damn, this poll is closer than I thought it would be, it's almost a dead race.
-
Neither is "classic", but "Be" is a lot better IMO
-
comparing common with kanye...
-
Late Registration. I bought it two days ago and I can't stop bumpin it. I'm really enjoying the album
-
Be, no contest.
-
Late Registration.
-
BE = Classic
dont think u can call it a classic but from wot iv heard i prefer BE
-

-
i feel kanye west is gettin a bit too big headed
-

I feel the exact same way homie
-
Be for me... Production wise both albums are pretty much equal to me, but it's Common's emceeing skills that make Be so much more interesting to listen to. Neither is classic, still both great albums.
-
Both albums are dope but I gotta go with Common on this one, he comes correct lyrically and his album has no fillers - short and sweet. Kanye is pretty tight too, his production feels a lot more polished but I feel the album woulda done better with fewer tracks. Then again I was never exactly a big kanye fan...my .02 Pz......
-
After hearing both back to back, I have to say BE. I think it was a better all around album. Late Registration was good, I like the change of pace for Kanye, but Common over normal Kanye beats is WAY better than Kanye trying to do something like Late Registration. No knock on his new CD, I liked it, and play it, but Common over Kanye is better than Kanye over Kanye trying not to be Kanye. Common and Kanye, if they work together more could be Guru and Premo, Snoop and Dre, Rakim and Eric B, CL Smooth and Pete Rock, Kurupt and Daz. Kanye by himself is good, but Common over Kanye is better, and BE vs. Late Registration shows that.
-
Be
-
BE - for sure!
-
BE- no doubt, imo "BE" was near flawless.
-
It's gotta BE Common...I like Kanye and all, but that Common album was one for the ages.
-
i voted late registration...
-
be

And that was two months and a half ago... I haven't listened to LR in a long time, it got old really quick for me. Be is still in regular rotation. Need I say more?
-
BE Witoutta doubt
-
Be, no contest.
no doubt.....common's rhymes and story telling is crazy sick
-
i really dont see how people are saying "be" is better... i just cant see it... is everyone on this forum just trying to be different and not go for the more main-stream album ?
-
I might add that Kanye did produce all the tracks in Be so big props to him for doing such a great job on his album alongside Common's
-
i thought this was another brand new thread - i was gonna lose my little temper for a sec there.
but i'm chilled now. :)

Kanye did all but 2 tracks on Be.
-
you can't knock most of the beats Kanye cranks out time and time again
-
Hmmm, tough choice...both albums have Kanye's beats (and he did an incredible job on both), but with "Be", I'm feeling Common's lyrics more even though I was actually a bit dissappointed by the album overall (it seemed like he was a bit less adventurous lyrically). "Late Registration", I'll grant you that Kanye ain't ever gonna be on Common's level as an MC, but he was far bolder (maybe a bit brazen, I dunno) and I found "Late Registration" more interesting to listen to.
Overall, I'd have to say "Be" just because it's so much more solid, but I'll admit I haven't been bumpin it nearly as much as I've been bumpin "Late Registration".

are you sure coz in the credits he is listed under "Composer" for every song, but i have been wrong before :-X

Kanye West is the most conceited bastard i've ever seen. Haven't even heard Commons album but some day ill give it a listen.
