I remember this song fuckin' caught me off guard like a motherfucker. Summer '99 I was watching BET Rap City and all of a sudden "Still D.R.E." comes on and this was before the internet was widespread, I didn't use it that much during that time, so I had no idea Dre was dropping an album and The Source was my only outlet for Hip Hop info and they never mentioned it. But yeah I was FUCKING BLOWN AWAY from the song and video. CLASSIC in every sense of the word.

yeah can you say what you want while you analyse west coast rap on your computer over there in germany, but here ON THE WEST COAST not everyone sucks dr dres dick over every song he makes. i mean obviously 2001 was a classic but still dre, forgot about dre, that murderer shit i cant even think of the name right now, and ackrite did not stand the test of time in my opinion
-
I think the song is overrated compared to his past work but it did it's thing and painted a nice picture of the West Coast. I remember I had taped a Jay Leno late night show with Snoop and Dre performing this song before it officially came on video and radio and this was the best version I've heard. Was dissapointed it didn't have the lil mix and added beat toward the end of the song like they did on the show when I heard it on the radio or on cd. Unfortunately I taped over it on a blank cassette thinking it would be the same extra beat when I bought the cd.

mastdark81 , could you rip the video??
-
My favorite hip hop track of all time. 8) 8)

Haven't heard this yet, am I sleeping?
-
Remember when I heard this when I was a little kid. Shit had me bouncing all over the place in car. Same with Forgot About Dre. It was one of those tracks I stayed in the car to hear the end of it even when everyone else had gone into the house.

Damn...Once again, can't we stop acting like Bitches and Pussies and just stick to the damn topic?? If you think it was a classic, cool....If u don't, cool....What I remember is that Dre made a huge comeback with Em's album but he still had doubters if he could come back with a solo album as nice as the Chronic.. After Still DRE dropped, everyone knew Dre was back and he used Snoop not Em to do it. Still Dre might have been Dre's most important hit for him as an artist.
-
If I had to point to one song that got me hooked on hip hop, this would be it. I remember when it first premiered, it was crazy. Ten years later, I'd say it's stood the test of time.
-
the Crooked I version on Young Boss 1 is better though
gun laws gettin stiff...
-
Wow.. how old are some of yall
-
there is one person who doesnt get much props and thats SCOTT STORCH, he is the one who actually played and came up with STILL DRE chords......another production dr dre gets too much credit for
-

Lol...i was about to ask the same thing....some comments makes me feel old!!
Song is classic....waited patiently after dre left deathrow and snoop join no limit for another Dre & Snoop track and Dre dropped hints with B'Please and Just Dippin...
Still Dre makes it official....
Now Its almost another Decade...Damn sure Dre will hit us with some good Dre & Snoop shit soon!!

-
Nice track, but it didn't make me go :o :o :o like when I first heard "What's The Difference".
-
I remember I was in Belmarsh Prison when this first came out and Westwood played it 3 full times on the trot
-
i heard that track to many times lol i'm not hating (i love the track)
-
Not quite Westcoast with Jay-z writing it.
But still lovin it....
-
that song started gettin me into westcoast hip hop and everythin
-
Absolute classic track, funny enough i was banging it a few days ago on my way to work. Cant believe its been 10 years. I was in the later years of high school when the album dropped.
I used to tape Tim Westwoods radio show on Friday nights at midnight on BBC Radio, i remember he said he was gonna premiere Still D.R.E on his show so instead of going to sleep and listening to the recording the next day i stayed awake and waited.
When Dre and Snoop finally came on Westwood just went absolutely nuts on it. Halfway through the song his trademark explosion effect would disrupt the track and he'd start it again from the beginning. No joke he done this for about 45 minutes and must have repeated the track at least 9 times!!!
I still have the tape of his show back home, the first side is nothing but Still D.R.E 8)
Anyone else from the UK remember this?

If Still Dre had been a solely Storch produced joint it would've been the same as Let's Ride - Close but no cigar.

Yeah, but the Source is a Piece of shit, its always had a East Coast Slant, West Coast Albums never got 5 Mics Initially, it always had 2 be some Retrospect. Wasn't Amerikkka's Most Wanted the only west coast album to earn a 5 Mics from the getgo? Shit had East Coast production, with a West Coast Lyrics, talking about some harsh shit.
