Title: MJ>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>KOBE AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Post by: jeromechickenbone on June 18, 2008, 06:59:41 AM
So please shut the fuck up.  Kobe has accomplished a lot of shit that Jordan never did, I'll give him that.  The main things being losing TWICE IN THE FINALS, getting obliterated by nearly 40 points in a close out game in the finals and sitting the bench.

Bitch made Kobe reared his head in the finals just like I knew it would.  Yall Laker fans falling for that bullshit act like he respects and is friends with that team.  He destroyed the confidence of every player on that team except maybe Bynum.  He won't obliterate Bynum because he needs to ride on his back for a championship, just like he did Shaq.

And don't tell me this current squad couldn't have won the Championship.  Shitloads of people were picking them to not just win, but to destroy Boston.  What was their record since acquiring Gasol?

This team was good enough to win, but bitch made Kobe showed back up.

Kobe Bryant your MVP.  LMAO.

You know what?  You are completely right, it isnt even close. Skillwise yes, but it takes SO MUCH more than skill to lead a team to a championship as we all just saw.

So, whoever the mod is of this forum, please in the future lock any threads trying to say Kobe is on MJ's level.  Kobe isnt 22 with no experience in the finals like LBJ was, he is already a champion on the number 1 seed in the team, and shits the bed in the finals.

And this is not the first time Kobe has completely SUCKED in an elimination game )remember when he wouldnt shoot against the suns?).

at least when Lebron and the Cavs took the CEltics to game 7, Lebron went out with 40 something and did EVERYTHING humanly possible to win.  The Cavs just werent good enough.

The Lakers WERE good enough, but lack of veteran leadership, their best player playing WELL below what he is capable of, and the entire team refusing to hustle or play any defense means they got their asses kicked.

NIK said give it some time before we judge kobe.  I say you do the same NIK. I know it hurts, but it isnt even close as of now.

Anyone who implies that Jordan woulda won yesterday in place of Kobe is a complete joke. Honestly, I doubt if Jordan in his prime woulda' even had these Lakers in the Finals this year. People using this as a reason MJ and Kobe are not comparable are completely baffled. This was a brand new team, people. A team who had 42 wins last season. A team who played without its starting center. A team that OVERachieved, thanks to Kobe's amazing performances throughout the year. Jordan might have not lost in the Finals, but he's had years where he couldn't even reach the Finals...The end.

I also wanna take the time to let you know how fucking stupid you are if you really believe that Kobe doesn't respect or hasn't become close to his teammates...and if you really think he ruined anyones confidence, you're a fuckin pussy. These are MEN were talkin about, not Jromo's...Kobe had these dudes in the gym workin their asses off and making huge strides. Man up and stop being such a gutless hater. Kobe had this team doing more than anyone believed possible...WITHOUT the starting center. Wake up and realize how pathetic your thoughts are.

MVP? More like MIA

BOSTON — In the end, the chant became fact, the screaming pleas of throaty New Englanders transposed into a sinking reality for silent Angelenos.

In the end, the crazy dream that the Lakers could quickly turn dysfunction into destiny ended when the Boston Celtics slowly turned them into chowder.

L.A. Beat.

And how.

An NBA Finals that began with the Lakers spraying wild streams of hope across the Southland ended Tuesday with those same Lakers in a small and embarrassed puddle.

Which the Celtics splashed through. Again and again. Loudly and messily and triumphantly in a 39-point victory that gave them their record 17th NBA championship.

The final score in Game 6 was Celtics 131, Lakers 92.

The final count in Finals games was Celtics 4, Lakers 2.

The final scene was green and white confetti blanketing brown parquet, small tears blanketing giant cheeks, fans tumbling over barricades onto the floor as the Lakers tried to escape.

"Man, man, man," said the Celtics' Kevin Garnett, saying it all.

The final cheers were heartfelt songs filled with the relief of fans who have waited 22 years since the Celtics' last title.

But the final chants were more compelling, because they were directed at you-know-who.

In his best chance at establishing his legacy as a championship player without Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant was seemingly burdened by something even heavier.

He made just seven of 22 mostly wild shots. He had just one assist. He had four turnovers.

The league MVP was

AWFUL, unable to break through even the most basic of one-on-one Celtic defenses, unable to carry a team that needed carrying.

In the six games of the series, he shot poorly, led inconsistently, had only one really dramatic moment, and that was on defense.

And, so, in voices that seemingly shook the TD Banknorth Garden, with Bryant standing at the foul line in the third quarter, here came those chants.

"You're . . . not . . . Jordan!" the fans sang, referring to Michael Jordan.

No, clearly, at this point he is not.

When Bryant began the fourth quarter on the bench with his team trailing by 29 points, they chanted again.

"Where . . . is . . . Kobe?" they sang even louder.

Today even the most diehard Bryant fans must be asking themselves the same thing, in wondering how far he can lead a team by himself.

"Once you taste defeat, that makes you a little tougher," said Bryant.

Other Lakers were just as deserving of the jeers.

Lamar Odom had two baskets and three turnovers and not one offensive rebound for a team that combined for a stunningly low two.

Pau Gasol had four baskets and five turnovers and the indignity of being forced into a jump ball by a guy -- Garnett -- using just one hand at the time.

"I thought we played on our heels from the very get-go," said Coach Phil Jackson. "They overran us. . . . We never met that energy all night tonight."

Before the game, if the Lakers were to lose, I was considering writing a column extolling this season's amazing turnaround and applauding them for an inspiring effort that ended at the feet of a clearly better team.

Before the game, if the Lakers were to lose, I was reminding everyone how their best inside player was in street clothes, and how Andrew Bynum's return next season should make them NBA favorites.

But after what happened in the game, how could any of us believe any of that?

They need more than Bynum. They need toughness in the middle. They needed maturity everywhere.

"We were surprised we were here, and we're glad that we had an opportunity," Jackson said. "But whenever you get this opportunity, you don't want to let it slip away, and we did."

How bad did it slip?

In the last seven minutes of the second quarter, the Celtics outscored the Lakers, 26-6, with a lineup that included three Celtic subs.

How bad did it look?

Garnett stalked around the court waving and chanting, a pep rally celebration -- with 5:07 left in the game.

The fans began chanting, "Nah-nah-nah-nah . . . goodbye" -- with 4:53 left.

Paul Pierce began doing a disco dance on the Celtic bench -- with 2:21 left.

Speaking of bad, yeah, the guy who began the series being carried off the floor and placed into a wheelchair was the Series MVP, an award that Pierce should place next to his Oscar.

"This is unreal," said Pierce in his acceptance speech.

I agree. I picked the Lakers to win in five games. The Lakers could not have won this series if it had gone 25 games.

I discounted that the Celtics' three veteran stars -- two of them acquired last summer -- would not be denied the championship that had thus far eluded them.

I didn't give them enough credit, and I gave some of the untested Lakers way too much credit.

So, too, apparently, did Jackson, who took the unusual step of threatening roster moves even before the cheering stopped.

"We have to get some players if we're going to come back and repeat, to have that kind of aggressiveness that we need," he said.

So when they return next fall, some of the Lakers might be new.

After this awful farewell, it is hoped that some of them will also be improved.

But...he'll keep on talking shit that doesn't make sense because he believes it.

^You might find comfort in blaming Kobe, but anyone who knows shit about basketball knows we lost because of DEFENSIVE purposes...Jordan had great defensive teams, while we played with Gasol, a power forward, in place of our starting center. Keep fooling yourselves, Jordan lovers.

NIK, you were all over Gasol's sack when the Lakers got him.  But he doesn't deliver and you're crying like a bitch.  You're boy Kobe didn't exactly deliver in the Finals either...

The biggest stage...his chance to deliver a ring without Shaq...and what does he do?

Drops from 31 ppg in the playoffs to 25.  Shoots 40%.  Blew his wad in a must win situation.  Yeah.  Keep the excuses coming.

Gasol is a very good all-star caliber player, no question about it...but this exposed the fact that we were using him as our starting center when he's a natural power forward. Despite what you may think, this was far from Kobe's last chance to win a ring without Shaq...just wait and see.

just wait and see...for what?

You made a comment somewhere else that none of the Lakers had been in this situation before...I don't believe any of Bostons starters have been in a Finals before either.

The Lakers choked...they choked as a collective unit.  Nobody played well.  Kobe didn't show any greatness at all.  Flashes?  Yes.  But overall greatness and domination?  No.

There's nothing to wait for.  You are the eternal optimist.  Just wait until Kobe gets mad and pissy about something else and starts the trade talk up again either for himself or for somebody else on the team...

just wait and see...hahahahaha.  You're a funny fuck.

Lakers will get their starting center back in Andrew Bynum and we will come back with valuable Finals experience under our belt...we will dominate the league for years to come, so wait for THAT. Celtics had ton of playoff experience and a VETERAN team. Lakers=2nd youngest team in the league...There's nothing but greatness in our future.

I agree, the Lakers are going to be a very good team for YEARS to come.  We all know Kobe wont ever bitch out again like that in the finals, and we also know that with a healthy Bynum the Lakers will be even better.  Kobe will have many chances to win possibly win a title and attempt to justify his fanclubs belief he is better than Jordan.  All i know, is if Jordan was overmatched, he woulda went for 63 like he did against the Celts.  Kobe, like he did against the Suns in a game 7 after his team blew a 3-1series lead, was almost MIA in the final game.  NIK< dont even begin to pretend that Jordan wouldnt have at least TRIED to take over.  That is what baffled me about Kobe; everyone expected him to takeover or attempt to, but all he could put together offensively was  a good quarter here and there, usually the first one.

BUT, i have to think the Celts have a good year or two left in them.   That defense is RIDICULOUS, like 94 Knicks good.

As for Lakers fans and their excuses, it WAS you guys who predicted sweeps or five game series win for your team, so we cant really take you seriously when you bring up how Gasol choked in the finals (what did you expect?), or how Odom was streaky (was that a shock?).  I think the only thing surprising about this series was Kobe.  He is not 22 like LBJ was in his first finals, this is Kobe's 4th time to the show, and he performs like a rookie or 2nd year player.  That is the biggest shock of all.

So Kobe fans can officially shut the fuck up for the  summer.  Your boy won the MVP this year, but then he went out like Dirk when he made the finals.  I guess now it is all up to how Kobe handles it. I dont think you can really shake his confidence, but you could tell he was frustrated with his game, and with the Celts defense.  The best player of all time would come back with a championship next year.......will kobe?

If Kobe goes for 50, the Lakers defense is still shit, and the team still loses...Only now all the blame goes to Kobe for trying to do it by himself and not getting his teammates involved. LOL. Kobe knows what it takes to win, and it takes a COLLECTIVE effort. I really don't see Jordan making the Finals with this Laker team, each and every one of his supporting casts were able to perform consistently on both ends. Even the year Jordan left, the Bulls made the ECF...We all predicted the Lakers would win in 4 or 5, but we also thought that they'd perform on both ends of the court as they did vs San Antonio...Other than Kobe, the whole team played shitty defense, collectively. But don't trip...just keep in mind what happened last time a Laker great (Magic) fucked up in the Finals vs the Celtics... 8)

since shaq left, kobe = dirk nowitzki (can get to the finals with big numbers and a lot of hype, but leaves winnin jacc shiet.)

dude was 3 for his last 17 shots in the BIGGEST game of his career as a leader. he not only gave up the biggest choke job in nba finals history at home, he lost by an embarrassing 39 points in the clincher. mvp mvp? no.

this lakers teams was number 1 in the hardest western conference almost all year, had a all star in gasol who all the groupies on here busted nuts over, bragged about how deep they bench was and said kobe was the mvp and was gonna lead them to a title. now all of a sudden they tryin to bactrac and act like this team wasn't expected to win, and that everybody counted them out. that's a load of bullshiet cuzz, everybody an they momma was piccin the lakers for supposedly dominating the toughest conference ever.

if kobe cant win in a season when he wins the hardest west ever, is named mvp, has a all star in gaysol, a double double guarantee in odom (who jewboy says should be an allstar), a gift wrapped derek fisher and a deep bench, rolls thru the west playoffs with the team everyone picced to win since may...when can he win?

now he is beggin and prayin for a new big man to show up so he can ride him to a title like he did with shaq. kobe without a star bigman = t-mac.

but dont forget niccas, jordan had great centers like luc longley, bill wenninton and joe kliene.

like i said before

jordan at 30 > kobe at 30. hahaha.

LMFAO @ the new excuse: "We didn't have our center".

You act like Bynum went out before game 1 of the finals.  Remind me, what was the Lakers record since acquiring Gasol?  They were the #1 team in the WEST, in arguably the greatest conference race of all time.  They looked damn good in the playoffs, nearly EVERYBODY picked them over Celts.  They knocked off the fucking SPURS who have been completely dominant in the last several years - The fucking defending CHAMPS.

Yes...Kobe pushed the Lakers with all his might and had them immensely overachieving. No one thought our players would completely freeze up on defense once we reached the Finals, but Boston exposed our softness (which is largely in part due to Gasol and Odom playing out of position)...Still, getting to the Finals>>>>>42 win season. Kobe is still young and the future is on our side.

Fine, but going into the finals with your young team, soft players, and sketchy D, you all were predicting a sweep.  That is why people are trippin and why you look like an ass.  Take the loss, admit that the entire team (even Kobe....especially Kobe) played nowhere near good enough to win.  They will be beack possibly, but there is no guarantee as much as you like to think so.

What don't you get? I predicted a sweep because I thought the Lakers would play like they did vs the Western Conference... If our supporting cast would have stepped up, we would be talkin about a Game 7 right now. Everyone knows that heroic performances usually come when you're performing as a team. Kobe wasn't gunna score 81 to win on the Celtics defense...Sure, he coulda played better, but that comes a long with a COLLECTIVE effort, which simply wasn't there...PeACe

^ Why do you keep saying that crap with the 42 win season part? Pierce took the Celtics from like the worst team in the league to the championship in 1 year. Wow, Pierce >>> MJ.  ::)

Pierce also did a great job... where did I deny that? But we didn't acquire 2 Hall of Fame players and mid-season vets chasing a ring. We acquired Gasol, sure, but we were killin even before that...We lost our 2nd best player and made it to the Finals...People need to stop trippin on LA and the Lakers...Going into this season, people didn't even think we'd make the playoffs...PeACe

Fine, but going into the finals with your young team, soft players, and sketchy D, you all were predicting a sweep.  That is why people are trippin and why you look like an ass.  Take the loss, admit that the entire team (even Kobe....especially Kobe) played nowhere near good enough to win.  They will be beack possibly, but there is no guarantee as much as you like to think so.

but what matters is "benchless boston"  won (which i could have told you was a rediculous phrase knowing how ILL eddie house is)

Here's the thing. You keep acting like LA beat themselves. Not true, they got completely shut down and outplayed by the Celts. Why would a team get all the way to the finals just to stop trying? They wouldn't. The fact is LA simply got crushed by a better team.

LOL@thinking Lakers played to their potential. Boston played as the better team, but I still don't think they're the better team...I think the fact that we played so shitty and took it to 6 games shows that we coulda beat them with stronger execution.

Do you know WHY the Lakers didn't play their best ball? BECAUSE BOSTON COMPLETELY TOOK THEM OUT OF THEIR GAME! The Lakers didn't hand Boston the trophy, Boston went out and TOOK that muthafucka! Are you actually trying to have us believe that the Lakers just decided collectively once they got to the big stage to not play their best?

And if the Lakers were more experienced and had been in a situation like this before, they wouldn't have gotten taken out of their game...Lakers took themselves out of the game by refusing to execute. Boston is good, no doubt, but not as good as the Lakers showed them to be.

LOL as if it was the game plan to go out there and fuck up. Kobe in the huddle:

"OK Guys I want everybody to refuse to execute. Sasha, you go cry like a bitch and act like you're more important than you are. Vlad, I want you to get out there and miss wide open shots and commit stupid fouls, because we don't want you out here spreading the floor and opening up the paint. Pau, I want you out there getting pushed around and abused by soft ass choke artist KG. Lamar, just keep acting like that same bitch you've been acting like your whole life. You guys play your part and I'll make sure I shoot 30% for us because thats what players who are better than Jordan do. 1,2,3 LAKERS!!!"

Stop making excuses, please. Your tune has completely changed. First you predict a sweep for the Lakers, then its "yeah well we didnt have Bynum," now its "theyre young and inexperienced"

Give credit to Bostons defense though man. It was a combination of poor Laker play, and good Celtics play.

You can always say "woulda" though man. Kobe shoulda played better, the role players shoulda played better. And if Boston didnt play as good, the Lakers "woulda" won. But "woulda" doesnt mean shit. We "woulda" beat you guys if we scored more points. I give the Lakers credit. They came outta the West. A tough conference. They had a great year. They just ran into a better team this year.

boston CAUSED everyone on hte lakers besides Kobe to suck (and i mean SUCK)

I just dont get why people hate on greatness, theyd rather root for a guy like KG who runs away from tha ball when the games on the line  :eh: :grumpy: Did people hate on MJ this bad back in the day? I mean I was young, but i dont remember the hate..doesnt make sense. If ur a REAL BASKETBALL FAN u apreciate what Kobe brings to the game, hating on the great makes me sick. No... The NBA glorified MJ, the media made him out to be a God who could do no wrong, and the league made sure he was untouchable. Kobe got the opposite treatment, so people follow in suit...you know how people are. If the media really wanted, they could make us love George Bush and think Bill Clinton was the worst president ever...muthafuckaz are sheep.

And i am a kings fan, but watching Kobe IS WHAT THE NBA IS ALL ABOUT.

Real talk, so many of my friends hate on Kobe, and the funny thing about it is it's generally the ones that don't know shit about basketball. The people that actually know a thing or two can atleast appreciate what Kobe is doing and that we're witnessing history. I'm not saying you have to be a Kobe fan to be a basketball fan abut pay respect when respect is due.

Kobe fans, what i cant understand is this:  what is with all of your guys' inate desire to prove Kobeis the best of all time.  Let his play speak for itself.  Real bball fans get it.  Kobe is the best player in the league.   LBJ is up there and it will be those two for awhile.  Both LBJ and Kobe are fucking great players and we are lucky to get to watch them.  Both took teams to the finals in the last two years while being the main dudes, but neither really played that well as both ran into SICK defenses that could easily shut down one man offensive teams.

So, right now, its Kobe>LBJ by a little.  This may change; both players have a lot of room to grow.  What happens with a healthy Bynum.  What happens when Lebron gets some support offensively?  What about a post game?

Dont be so fucking worried about Kobe's legacy, it will take care of itself.  If dude wins a couple (or 6) finals MVP's to prove he can LEAD a team to the title, than we can talk about him on MJ's level maybe.

After all, sports has ALWAYS been about accomplishments.  The name of the game is not to be the most skilled, but to get results.  Kobe will get his I am sure, but until then, kill this talk of Kobe being on Jordans level.

See...this is what upsets Laker fans. Putting Kobe and LeBron on the same level. That is just pathetic. Kobe is established as one of the greatests ever (if not the greatest). LeBron STILL hasn't proven shit. He's still not even close to being up there with the greats. You guys talk about stopping the Jordan-Kobe comparisons, but then you go ahead and make a mockery out of Kobe by comparing him to LeBron frickin' James...That's a joke, man. Compare LeBron to Wade, Melo, and T-Mac, not to Kobe. Kobe, right now, is way too underrated by Jordan lovers/Kobe haters.

hahahha @ that video cuzz.

the nicca kobe is a michael jordan stan, it all makes sense why the nicca try to be him so bad, he swagger jaccs cuzz's moves. even the video the jew posted to try to compare em is called 'kobe the swagga jacca' hahaha.

what this jew dont get is that even if he copies all of jordan's moves like a wannabe, that don't mean shiet. jordan is the greatest of all time cuz he WON TITLES as a leader, he was the undisputed number 1 guy on his team and he never lost a finals. kobe has never won ANY rings as a leader or number 1 guy. he was always number 2 to shaq. even shaq won again with wade replacing kobe. kobe can get a jobe as a poor man's michael jordan at jewish parties if he wants and copy all the plays, but he proved the last 4 years that he cant win jacc shiet. he finally gets to the finals with 2 all star players and he chokes and shoots like 39 %. plus he has the nbas biggest choke at home and worst loss ever.

until kobe wins SIX rings and SIX finals mvps as the undisputed LEADER, he aint nowhere near michael. kobe aint even the best/most dominant champion of the last 10 years since jordan's last ring, duncan and shaq are.

kobe without shaq = dirk nowitzki, or a less athletic lebron james. all 3 of them can get to the finals, they score alot, are mvps or mvp candidates, but NONE of them can WIN as leaders. and now kobe is gonna pray that andrew bynum can be his new shaq.

kobe without shaq = scoring titles, first round playoff exits, 1 mvp award and took an overachieving team to the finals just to get DEMOLISHED.

lebron = scoring titles, first round playoff exits, mvp finalist, took an overachieving team to the finals just to get DEMOLISHED.

yeah cuzz, they SO much different  ::)

lebron is younger, got to the finals as a LEADER by himself much faster, is a better rebounder, better passer, more assists, more steals, more bloccs, physically stronger, better dunker, higher flyer, more skilled, shiet the list goes on. lebron is one of a kind, nicca is 6 8 and 240 with a guards quickness, crazy hops, developing d.
you give lebron shaq in his prime and they win 4 or 5 and dont lose to detroit. we all saw how kobe succed ass against detroit.

matta of fact cuzz, kobe's career finals shootin' percentage is fuccin wac as hell.

Kobe said that no one can be better than Jordan and it's true since everyone never remembers Jordan missing a shot.  Jordan is like an urban legend that you can never surpass.

Who said Kobe was better than MJ ? Kobe offensive arsenal is more impressive than Jordan one BUT Jordan was  more efficient than Kobe is right now .. though Kobe was shooting 50% from the field until the Finals and actually was on MJ level ... great D by the Cs and bad shots selection happened in the Finals ....

MJ met great D against the Knicks and especially against Pistons and it took him some years to beat Detroit .. he didn't meet outstanding D in the different Finals .. while Detroit in 04 and Boston this year had very impressive D ...

The bottom line is MJ was better because he was unstoppable in the post with the fadeaway shot and never get away from this in the clutch ...

LOL. The refs favored Boston in every single game. if the NBA is somehow fixed, only an idiot would claim that this wasn't a fix for Boston.
