Title: Highly anticipated albums that dissapointed
Post by: budsmokeronly on August 05, 2002, 11:01:17 AM
what are some albums that you highly anticipated and then were disapointed with.  It doesn't mean they are bad albums, just they didn't live up to your hype.

Tha Doggfather- this is my most anticipated album ever.  I was so damn excited about it.  Still a really good album, but I was disapointed.

Lunatik Musik- Operation stackola is a classic in my eyes, and this one just did not live up to my expectations.  Again still a good album, but not as good as I expected.

Take a look over your shoulder- Just not on the same level as his first album, but still a good album.

Bones & wash could have definetly been better. And I know some people r gonna kill me for sayin this, but I thought Xzibits Restless could have been better. Its still a good album, and I still bump it ocassionally, but I was expecting somethin alittle more raw like 40 dayz and not so commercial.
Another BIG disappointment in my book was Ice Cube's War and peace albums. Man, i only played that shit like twice. That cd dont even got a scratch on it

i think the firm cd got wayyy better with time...

the wash (incredibly disappointed cause i was expecting half the shit to be dre and snoop reunion)

snoop- da game

ma$e- double up (his first cd was nice...you can't deny bumping it one time or another)

biggie- born again (just thought it'd be way better)

black rob- life story (never felt it)

canibus- THS

dr.dre- concrete roots (when i saw the track "another g thang" i was expecting another chronic like cd but that was way back when i didn't know alot about rap so i didn't know what i was buying...it's like a djing and shit)

dr.dre- presents the aftermath (the two singles were hype, but there was only two other good songs on the whole cd)

training day- soundtrack (only a few song i like on it)

busta rhymes- the coming (after hearing the first single i thought it was gonna be a dope cd...but i haven't listened to it in like 3 years at least)

puff daddy- (anything after no way out...you can't deny that, that wasn't a good cd because it was tight)

that's all i can think of right now, peace.

You must have thought that Aquemini was going to be the greatest album ever to be disapointed with that.

Is Devin's album even out yet?

compared to Southernplayalistic, Aquemini was not good to me...cuz personally i find Southernplayalistic as a monumental and land mark album for the south and the industry....the Devin is not out...ive heard the advance they got on the internet and its a dissapoinment....nothing like The Dude, or the Odd Squad and Facemob albums....

DMX - Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood [It's Dark And Hell Is Hot was my favorite album of '98. I didn't bump any album more than it and I think it's a classic. The follow-up made me puke.]
Beanie Sigel - The Truth [I was addicted to Mac's flow since his first appearance on "Resevoir Dogs" and his ill verse on "Do It Again" had me anticipating his debut even more. The Source review hyped me up more and when I bought it I was highly disappointed.]
Cam'ron - Come Home With Me [His first album sucked but his second album was tight and had me anticipating his third. Sadly, the third sucked just as bad as his debut.]

Royce 5'9'' - Rock City, I had high expectations for this due to his earlier work and I was expecting better

Outsidaz - The Bricks, the Nightlife E.P. was one of the dopest E.P.'s I've heard, unfortunatly The Bricks didn't maintain this quality.

Space Boogie - This was wak

Nastradamus - Straight trash.

All DMX albums after his 1st - they were all average or trash.

Heavens Movie - too short and no where near as good as it could have been.

Yeah Baby - After the great album that was capital punishment, this was average (but funny) album by pun.

Restless - after dropping 2 near classics, i had to cry myself to sleep everyday for 2 weeks after buying this, this was POOR for Xzibit.

Thug On Da LINE - This is the WORST Bone related album in history and in my top 10 worst albums EVER...I cried non stop after buying and listening to this....

Its also the FIRST bone album i sold (coz its that bad)

:'(

yeah just cause an album is dissapointing doesn't mean that it isn't good.  It is just your expectations were not met.

Uhhh, some people here just dont know their Hip Hop...I heard albums like "Aquemni", "40 Dayz...", "Soul on Ice", and "Stankonia" being named...That's just rediculous ya'll...Every album I just named was a classic...PeAcE

the most disspointing albums of all time in my eyes:

Too $hort - Chase the Cat , fuck i was looking forward to this sooooo much man. I thought it was complete rubbish. Shit quality sound, lyrics are weak than ever and way too many guest apperances. ShortDogg sounds better alone. I'm A Dog was an ok track though.

Daz Dillinger - This Is The Life I lead, i can only bump 3 tracks on this CD and that is Ain't that sumfin, Bitch make me rich and Load Up. The rest is very average. Man what's with that song Drama the second one, that's fucking wack!!!

Those are just my opinions though, you may se it different.

Just to address some of ya responses:

The Firm is one of my favourite albums,
Nasstradamus is hot, i'm really feeling the lyrics in some tracks.

I'm out
