This guy is hot, he gonna blow up. This album coming out in is like 50's POTD. If my nastradamus skills are right, his second album will have a big backing and go platinum. Or this debut album will flop and he will never be heard of again? Either way, I like this guy, and think he has huge potential.
Sean Mims (born March 22, 1981 in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York) is a rapper from New York born into a family of Jamaican descent. After struggling to get signed, he finally convinced EMI/Capitol Records to sign him. MIMS signed with EMI/Capitol after he garnered attention with his independently released single, "This Is Why I'm Hot", which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2007.
MIMS also released the remix of "This Is Why I'm Hot" featuring Junior Reid and Cham.
MIMS is planning to release his debut album, Music Is My Savior on March 27, 2007 .
This Is Why I'm Hot (good mainstream single) first line: I don't gotta rap, I could sell a mill saying NOTHING ON THE TRACK. <<< ROFL.

Where I Belong (I love this track, deep song)

It's Alright (reminds me of early 50 cent)

his pre-school rhymes are a joke. don't say he's good, say his producer is good
-
Mims have got some good lyrics, even though the single is wack. I know you weren't talking bout Fif though ;)
-
artistically yeah sure, they both suck. will he blow up like 50? probably, mainstream hip hop likes to give shitty artists more shine.

You must have just started listening to 50 when "Candy Shop" came out. GRODT was a GREAT cd, and that was partly due to 50 artistic ability. He marketed himself very well since "How to Rob" came out.
Mims I dunno, 50 came from the ground up and he had a intersesting back story. Mims just had a hot single, and some good 16's, but I dunno bout him even going gold.

LMAO at anyone thinking Mims will blow up like 50. Dude won't pass 600,000 records sold

i dont even know who is this mims.. where he from? what label?

Thats's what I'm saying. He doesn't have that extra something to set him apart from the pack. Don't pass judgement just because of where he's from.

sorry, but I can't believe your even serious. The line you posted (i could say nothing etc.) is a PRIME example of this dude's skills. That's pretty much him SAYING he made it because of his producer
-
He's just saying it for the sake of that. he knew because of the beat, he had a hit single and didn't have to say shit. Not saying that's the attitude you want a rapper to have, but it is what it is.

still. that line is plain sad. you could fill this thread with any artist as long as they had that beat.
-
Well, that's wat I'm saying, it's just that single. He's got better shit than "This Is Why I'm Hot "

At least you got it! This is the kind of smartass industry-intelligent line 50 Cent would make up. And he ain't afraid to say it. He knows what sells, and he's rolling with it. I didn't say he had tons of talent. I just think he's gonna blow up...
-
He is another reason why hip hop is dying because his tracks are garbage.

"I ain't even gotta make no got damn sense
I just wrote a whole song and I didn't say shiet"
- Eminem

His flow doesn't even change the whole song... the beat changes from Shook Ones, Jesus Walks, G Thang, etc... yet his simple flow never changes....
-
I really dont see dude moving big numbers especially since I been selling his album @ the swap meet 7 dollaz a piece 8)
-
not feeling this, unlike i did when i first heard 50
-

haha LOL

the poster is the reason hiphop sux right now
and as long as we're taking potshots (mind you i like kanye's music) Kanye is the reason mainstream America/other aspects of culture can't take hip hop and hip hoppers seriously. He's among hip hop's most intelligent representatives and even he said something as defeatist, uninformed and cliched as "george bush does not care about black people" if he would have just said "george bush does not care about poor people" he would have been correct and represented. but he had to pull the race card because it was a simpler, dumber thought that would be more embraced by the streets despite its half truth.
sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
that mims song is garbage, but I can see dude blowing up for that reason exactly.

Pretty much admitted it. ;D

My 10 yr. old cousin can write better rhymes than MIMS. The only song that I thought was good is this song called "Don't Cry" by MIMS.. That's the only song that was worth listening to.
