-
Ok, big Kendrick Lamar fan?
-
2008-2009 was when I started really going out and hitting up shows, basically in this order if my memory isn't totally fried:

Lupe Fiasco
N.E.R.D.
Kanye West

Kendrick Lamar (5 times)
Schoolboy Q (3 times)
Ab-Soul (3 times)

Goddamn thats a lot of shows! Off top which was the best show? And best performer overall?
-
the best overall show was this past year's Summer Jam there was at least 35+ artists there and having Bone as a surprise guest plus the entire Wu-Tang sealed the deal for me
the best performers I'd say were a toss up between Method Man & Redman and Tech N9ne, both very dope on stage and know how to put on a show for the entire performance
the worst was probably Jim Jones but I got into that show for free when I was bored one night, had a homie who was a bouncer at Toad's Place and would get me into mad shows for no cover charge… Wiz Khalifa wasn't very good either cuz dude was too high or tired out and had zero energy, French Montana did like 2 verses (barely) and brought out a bunch of surprise guests (Ace Hood, Ross, Wayne, etc.) lol
I'd say a good majority of all the shows I've been to were pretty dope and always worth the money whenever I paid for my ticket 8)
-
Tech9ne (lasted about 10 seconds before I got thrown out)
Pharoahe Monch/Slaughterhouse
Xzibit/Young De/Bizzare
Raekwon/Sheek Louch
Das Efx
T-Pain
Snoop Dogg
Ghostface Killer/Killah Priest/Trife
B-Real/Julio G
All those were in the last three years. Seeing B-Real live was freaking amazing dude sounds better live as opposed to on record and he switches up lyrics and ads different ad libs to hype up the crowd.
-
the best performers I'd say were a toss up between Method Man & Redman and Tech N9ne, both very dope on stage and know how to put on a show for the entire performance
Yeah, I'm not even that big of a Tech9ne fan but dude puts on a hell of a show.
-
Tech N9ne is an incredible. My favorite live rap performer, outside of KRS-One. I have seen:
The Game
Snoop Dogg (with Daz, Kurupt)
KRS-One
Tech N9Ne
Jay Rock
Glasses Malone
Ras Kass
Big Krizz Kaliko
-
Snoop with Rage and Soopafly
Snoop with Daz n Kurupt,Ice cube and WC (i missed Bone thugs(got there late))
Yukmouth solo
The Luniz with Dru Down, Tech9ne & Kurupt(but i only saw some of Tech9nes show & i missed Kurupt that same night( i left early))(dope concert i got too wasted lol.....)
Digital underground
Method man and Redman with Razel
Xzibit
Onyx with The beatnuts and Tha Likkks
I thinks thats all apart from Aussie rappers.
I met Yukmouth and poppa LQ and blazed with em, i met Krayzie bone and Wish bone and got a photo.
I was sposed to go to a Game concert with Akon and naughty by nature but didn't make it.
-
Shit, just Snoop, lol.
Many bypass NZ (hip hop/non hip hop) on route to Aus, but its getting a little better. Ive missed a whole lot.....Bone, Kurupt...Busta Rhymes, Public Enemy etc....
Eminem, Kendrick Lamar & J Cole have a show next month....but Im hitting up a sports comp.
-
Out of the top of my head:
Snoop with Daz, Kurupt & Soopafly
Snoop with Daz
Redman
Method Man (2x)
Wu-Tang Clan (without RZA, Method Man & Ghostface)
The Game
Jay-Z & Kanye West
Beatnuts, Paris, The Alkaholiks & Jeru The Damaja
DITC (AG, OC, Lord Finesse & Diamond D)
De La Soul
Madchild, DJ Revolution, Reks, Termanology, Evindence & The Alchemist
EPMD & DJ Scratch
Erick Sermon
Nas
Eminem, D12, Xzibit, Defari
Xzibit & Krondon
DJ Premier & Big Twin
Worst concerts:
1/ The Game. he just had zero energy & was just lame. Somebody in the audience threw a botlle at him, and Game and his entourage got of stage and punched the dude. After that he walked of the stage, finishing his last song behind the scenes.
2/ Wu-Tang: besides the fact they didn't show up completely, all they did was just shouting throughout the set
Best concerts:
As you can imagine, seeing Beatnuts, Paris, The Alkaholiks & Jeru The Damaja all in 1 night was just fucking awesome. Same for DITC. Redman & Method Man are always cool to see. Eminem was after the release of the Marshal Mathers LP, when he & the hip-hop scene was still the shit. Snoop's first concert that I saw was reallllly nice. The second one, only last year, was getting a bit too poppy for me (California girls by Katy Perry, anyone?).
Would like to see:
Redman & Method Man together. Hit Squad or Def Squad. Cypress Hill. Would have wished that I could see the Beasty Boys live. Boot Camp Click collective would be cool.

Not bad for a Dutchie I guess, going to see Hopsin next month and Everlast solo month after that.
The Dubcnn westcoast show in Amsterdam with Too Short, Ice Cube, Xzibit etc. was awesome. So was the show in Amsterdam with Nas, de la soul, EPMD, pharcyde etc..
I loved the Methodman & Redman concert, such big energy. I got the opportunity to chill with some of the Wu-tang clan members after the concert and manage to take pictures which was cool.
In my home town a small venue always succeeds to get some big names to come over. Rakim, KRS-One and Onyx where awesome to see up close.
Worst was probably The Game, was some 30 mins show in a shithole place I never imagined I would see him lol.
-
Game seems to be very hit/miss when he performs live from what I've read lol when he came down here aside from him having like 20 goons on stage he put on a good show, killed a bottle of Grey Goose and shit I still have the pictures

-
Snoop with Tray Dee - at Lollapalooza 97' (wasn't that dope though, this was during a down period in Snoop's career)
Lost Boyz - on second stage at Lollapalooza, nice show
Eminem - May 1999, not long after Slim Shady LP dropped, small venue in Kansas (where he apparantly met up with his mom and family, his brother Nate was on stage), got to shake Em's hand and yell into the mic...a lot of idiots thought Em was a one-hit wonder at the time so I had to go by myself to the concert
Xzibit, Em D12 - opening up for Em at Anger Management Tour. "X" had just leaked and I rapped the whole song to Xzibit's hype man and he asked me if it was my own shit, lol.. I told him it's Xzbit's new single and he told me he was gonna tell X I was out there in the front row. Met Proof backstage
Nas - Nas sucked live.. concert was wack, St. Lunatics performed so the crowd was not hardcore heads
Wutang- great concert
Eminem - for a 3rd time, this time for the Eminem Show concert.. Xzibit opened up for Em
Bone, Ice Cube, DJ Quik, etc. at Power 106 concert in L.A...

Went to NY and USA first time in 2012, i've been to DJ Premier & Bumpy Knuckles release party and it was some bangin' old school flavor.
I've seen a lot of cats as Flavor Flav, M.O.P., Naughty By Nature, Justo, NYG'z, Sean Penn, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Kool Herc, MC Sweet Tee, The Cold Crush Brothers, Eric B., O.C., Heather B, Naughty By Nature and Lord Finesse. Met V-Stylez from Detroit and was able to talk a few minutes to Primo.
Worked and met Termanology and Statik Selektah in Brooklyn.

I saw @Sccit live once. He was pushing the mop around a burger joint whilst spitting some Dr Dre level rhymes. I knew no one would believe me so luckily I got this footage:

damn you’re hilarious .. i’m shocked that you never made it as a comedian. there’s absolutely nothing corny about you.

Thank you. That means a lot coming from a man of such self evident good taste.

I saw DJ Quik perform here in Sydney, Australia. The crowds are getting smaller since 2012 when I saw him for the first time. While there are young fans in attendance (very few), there’s less of the older heads at these shows which is understandable.
Also saw Kendrick for his MR MORALE tour. Definitely a step up since his DAMN tour in terms of production. Quite pleased with the show overall but since he’s a big draw, tickets are on the pricey side.
-
finally!
I tought i am the only one to go rap shows nowdays... :-\

So far 2023 -
- Kendrick Lamar for the Mr Morale and Big Steppers tour 8/10. He’s doing stadium shows now but I remember his shows being more intimate. Still, great new album and concert. Creative, entertaining and Baby Keem keeps him inspired on stage
- Snoop Dogg for the I Wanna Thank Me Tour. 8/10. My first time seeing him and although he performed his non hip hop hits, it was a blast to see him finally. Hopefully not the last as he’s getting old but definitely a memory I’ll never forget.
- Cypress Hill/ Ice Cube. Cypress was 9/10 as they have all that experience of playing for different crowds. They definitely know how to put on a show and rock the crowd. On stage presence was crazy from B Real and Sen Dog. Live music instrumentation and DJ’ing combined kept the spirit of hip hop alive and well for all to enjoy.
Ice Cube was bittersweet, the sound was way too low which completely ruined the show overall. 6/10 only because Dub C was present as a hype man. If the sound was sorted, it would’ve been a great concert.
-
ive seen a newcat PremRock today!
he was good with "his" dj Fresh Kils. 8) 8)

50 was a stadionrap. at this level all concert is the same.
he changed clothes like beyonce, use flames and fire like rammstein, lights like the pet shop boys. ;D ;D
yayo and uncle murda are totally unnecessary.
-
