Title: Record Label Pyramid
Post by: PeterParker on February 10, 2009, 10:12:38 PM
I don't know much about record labels, but I was wondering if this guy is correct when he says everyone is under the same umbrella, or should I say pyramid?

This doesn't only apply to record labels, it applies to the whole world - What you think and what it is are 2 totally different things.

No such thing as Black or White, just rich and poor, those that know and those that won't.

There are only 4 big labels/music groups left.  Under those are many subsidiaries.  Here are some examples.

1. Warner Music Group
Atlantic Records
Warner Bros. Records Inc.
Independent Label Group (includes Asylum Records)

2. EMI
Capitol Music Group

3. Sony BMG
Columbia Records
Epic Records (partially owns KOCH)
RCA Music Group
Zomba Music Group

4. Universal Music Group
Interscope-Geffen-A&M
The Island Def Jam Music Group
The Universal Motown/Universal Republic Group
