Title: I really don't understand what shady/interscope was doing with yelawolf
Post by: OG Jaydc on July 02, 2012, 04:21:26 AM
I mean, what's the fucking point of loading his album with corny, poppy hooks by female singers if your not going to use them as singles ? I don't get it. Hard white in the club is cool, but why is that a single and not the all the pop radio tracks? They've got it ass backwards.

Because every song on the album minus Hard White sounded terrible and like it came off an old No Limit CD.

The cd grew on me actually and I know heads who like that album more than trunk muzik. I still don't understand why they didn't push "radio", son only got 2 singles.

That album was dope with plenty of dope cuts.

Yelawolf actually said this about Shady Records recently; guess that's where the thread sparked from. He said they made him make all those catchy/mainstream songs & they didn't use any of them as singles, just "Hard White". He basically said they could promote a new single every two months for a year with all the mainstream appeal his album had.

I can't lie though, he's talking about songs like "Made In The USA", "Animal", "Everything I Love The Most", "Throw It Up", etc. & those songs are really dope to me. I mean, how is a song featuring Eminem going to fail?

Shady is going to do the same to Slaughterhouse.

^Me too, but it's already happening.

"Hammer Dance" was cool. But "My Life" was the ill sellout. Now "Throw It Away" was a complete joke. Then Budden recently said "The label won't even tell us what songs are on the album, so I don't know what to expect". So fuck it. Even 50 Cent can't get an album out that he wants. Jimmy just rides Eminem every few years.

It moved over a hundred thousand units.

Trunk muzik moved about the same and to me was vastly superior.

It's funny you go on YouTube and look at his videos and all the singles off trunk muzik are over ten million views and the ones off radioactive aren't even close to them.

It feels like their doing the same thing they did to yelawolf to slaughterhouse and alienating the fan base already established. I only listen to the first six songs on radioactive because it's straight downhill after that.

Yelawolf ain't that good to begin with.. I mean, yea, he can come hard here n there, but he can't really carry an album. "trunk music" was corny to me, and I didn't even peep the new one.

"Everything I love The Most," though somewhat poppy, was actually a pretty good track.

I enjoyed that song as well, because it felt like a natural song. Made in the USA and animal however are  :-X. Those hooks are atrocious, and remind me  of songs off lupe's lasers album.
