we had huge expectations but it again looks like nothing will change.
a)Westside Connection.the single was great,catchy,one of the best nate hooks in years.the whole album was a litlle dissaponting but it was still dope compared to other cds released.all of my school friends who only listen to commercial rap loved it.the first single did good but suprisingly they never made it to the 2nd single.
b)Knoc-Turn'al.the tracklisting looked amazing.production form scott storch,dre,dj quik,mel man,timbaland,warren g,damizza,fredwreck.all the top producers in the game!guest apperances by snoop,warren g,xzibit,nate dogg,hittman...the 1st single was again dope but didnt get anywhere.the whole album was a big dissapontment.the beats sounded like leftovers.but still it was a classic compared to all the nellys and chingys.and again he didnt make it to the 2nd single.
c)213.the super group.the most anticipated album form many westcoast fans.first single was catchy as fuck,all my friends loved it.the whole album had a great vibe.some producers were missing but it was a very solid album.a LOT better then anything that is popular in rap right now.again it looks like no 2nd single.
d)Snoop Dogg.a horible cd.the problem isnt production but snoop himself.he seems unmotivated and is willing to jump on anythign thats popular.now this is the same type of bs that gets played on the radio and yes it will sell a lot.and this is the sadest thing.one of the worst westcoast albums will be the most popular
future:
a)Xzibit.getting recognized everywhere.pimp my ride,hosting mtv europe awards.could blow up again.again we have a problem.his first single is dissapointing.doesnt sound like westcoast at all,lyrics are below average,so we have a typical popular single but it aint getting any play.maybe it will in few weeks but i doubt it.
b)the game.dr.dre's protege.my fav rapper right now.very confident man with big plans.his first single with 50 cent is suprsingly getting more loved by my school homies then in da club.everybody's repeating the words,singing the chours.the beat is typical dre,str8 heat,not the typical westcoast sound but still a great beat.game's lyrics are not the best he can do but its always like that with 1st singles.pac did it,cube did it.hte lyrics just have to be dumbed down.which is sad.hes repping the westcoast though.2nd single higher is definetly my fav track this year.beat is crazy,lyrics are great.but again something seems to be wrong.first eminem fucks him up,gets his album delayyed for 3 months.his hype will eventually die down.lets just hope not too soon.and even if it doesnt only 1 month after his album 50 cent comes with his new album.so it looks like game could be another "obie trice".
c)crooked i-my fav artist for a few years now but still without a single album out.and it seems liek he doesnt have the confidence to make it big
d)kurupt-stuck on death row,fell of hard.plans on doing a lot of projects but it looks terrible.
e)roscoe-hasnt done nothing in the last few months.his album flopped altough it was great album.again without a 2nd single.
f)sly boogy-definetly trying to get his name out there.he could definetly make it all he needs is a good record deal.great artist
g)Others:IVLife-they had some buzz and some projetcs to release but nothing happened.TQ had a sort of small lp,great album again no promotion.
so what's your opinions?to me it looks like well have to wait for detox.dre always opens the doors for succes

Well actually, I don't really blame people for not buying Knoc-turn'al's album after hearing the first single, which was only mediocre, save for Snoop's part. "Dr Dre made two Chronics, and this is Chronic 3" LMAO
O, and you forgot Cypress Hill and Guerilla Black
Edit: And The Federation could've blown up too, if only their record company promoted them better.

every year seems to be a sad year for ignorant west coast fans. There's always good music comin out of the west.

The music was there this year, all the record companies are bithcing out by not putting out second singles. Are they gonna let the 213 album die after 100,000 units? They could milk that Cd for a lot more money, I don't know what the fuck they're thinking. Knoc had a grip of commerical-appealing songs on his Cd too, there was no reason for them not to push another single. Fuck the record companies.

yea...now that i think about it..it was a sad ass year for the west ....i meen we had albums come out that should've brought the west back ...but when they came out ...they bombed man...the albums were weak...wsc's terrorist threats was dissapointing....knocturnal's lp was also disapointing...i had high expectations because of the producers but ...shit was wack...and 213's album wasn't that great either and the album flopped wit sales...and then there were many westcoast albums i was expecting to drop but didnt like kokane...eastsidaz...kurupt...crooked i...damizza...and the list goes on

Yukmouth's United Ghettos of America was okay but it needed better production.
As much as I hate to say it West Coast Mafia Gang's album was bad.
Suga Free's album sucked
And I know Snoop Dogg's new album will suck.
It's a shame when Afroman actually drops the most west coast sounding album in years.

Big Hutch
MC Eiht and Spice 1 collabo album
As for the future of the west Crooked I and Sly Boogie are my picks.
