Let's be real here. Even the most undeniably 5-mic album has one song that grabs you a little less than the rest. One song that you might even skip from time to time. I'm interested to hear what they are, so post 'em here if you've got a view. Thought I'd kick it off with three west coast classics...
Doggystyle - Pump Pump.
- For me it just ain't the right way to end the album. For one, it just isn't that good a song. Snoops sounds threatening enough but Malik?.... I wonder how many people know that one of the greatest records out of the West Coast includes a dis to fucking Kris Kross?! Secondly, the track would have sounded better after Serial Killer, carrying on that dark vibe. If Death Row had cleared the Gz Up Hoes Down sample, that would have been the perfect closer to the album in my opinion.
The Chronic - High Powered
Apart from Rage's ad-libs in the back ground, I'm not feeling this too much. I gues it gave us a couple of classic lines from RBX, which he's STILL recycling to this day, but apart from that, I think Snoop could have dropped a cold verse over this beat. Without him it's wasted.
All Eyez On Me - What'z Your Phone #
Need I say more? Pac shows NO flow over the beat what so ever. I simply can't listen to the whole track.
Any others?
-
a lot of people will disagree, but
The Chronic - lil' ghetto boy

i never had any problems with that track cuz the lyrics are cool and i also liked the original by morris day back n the days.
-
Rat-tat-tat is pretty annoying.....
Peace
-
Yep! First thing that came to mind was "What's ya phone #"....as The Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons would say, "Worst 2Pac song ever."
-
a lot of people will disagree, but
The Chronic - lil' ghetto boy
:o :o
I'm one of them that would disagree. ;D
Ill add "Braveheart Party" on Nas' Stillmatic.
-
I like "What'z Your Phone #" by Pac. Want to know why? Well, I DJ alot & when I play this track at parties, the women go nuts & they get real freaky & Wild ;D. So uh, yeah, I like this song.
Anyway, back to the topic. I agree with Jankiest. I don't like Lil Ghetto Boy that much.
-
Ill add "Braveheart Party" on Nas' Stillmatic.
Yeah, definitely. Thought of a few more:
Midnight Marauders - 8 Million Stories
2001 - Ackrite
It's On - Gimmie That Nutt
Ghetto D - Eyes On Your Enemies
Marshall Mathers LP - Amityville
All highly skippable to me...
-
Not really songz, But Dr. Dre had too many damn skitz on 2001. He shoulda left em off or added more songz wit juss him.
Kurupt - Live on tha Mik
- Song iz garBage! Kurupt had a good flow, But over that Beat & wit Krs...naw
-
Yea that track bravehearts party from Stillmatic was fuckin wack!
But I disagree with Pump Pump from Dogggystyle, that shit is one of my favorite Snoop songs, where Snoop just has the viscious flow down pat and rips the beat hard.
-
NWA- something to dance 2 off SOC
Jay-Z- aint no nigga off reasonable doubt

defintely agree with Braveheart Party on Nas's joint,
but off Snoop's Doggystyle, I just wasn't feelin
Lodi Dodi, and I wish he would just quit remakin
other people's jointz on his LP's, even if it is to pay
respect to them
Dre's 2001-Fuck You f/Devin and Snoop, the beat
was just way below Dre's standards and Snoop is
just awful since Doggystyle
-

gimmie dat nut- not a classic cut but dope, and chicks luv it
I agree wit whats ya phone #, and live on the mike, but whats ya phone # is still decent.

On the Chronic I really don't like "a nigga witta gun",it's classic but well,I dont like it that much.
-
The worst track on Em's last album was Say Goodbye to Hollywood, the beat and the hook were garbage.
-
Here's my picks:
Doggystyle - Pump Pump (I still like it, just my least favorite)
Chronic - Ni**a Witta Gun
Dogg Food - Soooo Much Style (HATE this song, way too east coast for this album)
Uncle Sam's Curse - Concreat Jungle
Rhythmalism - Bombudd 2
Bow Down - Cross Em Out An Put A K (Beat always got on my nerves)
All Eyez On Me - No More Pain (Its okay but I usually skip it)
7 Day Theory - Blasphemy (I really like this track though, hard to pick for this album)
Me Against The World - Old School
Street Gospel - Doe Doe & Skunk (one of my least favorite Quik productions)
Eminem Show - Sing for the moment
8)
-
Me Against The World - Old School
Noooooo! That's probably my favourite joint on that! Gotta be Death Around The Corner for me - I can't remember the last time I listened to it all the way through.

Thought I'd bump this up because of the 'Pump Pump' discussion - it's kind of funny to see my arguments against the track in my first post, they're pretty much identical to 4108's... (all I changed in my 'edit' was the thread title).
-
Eazy Duz It - No More's
Doggystyle - Pump Pump
Chronic - A N*gga Witta Gun
No One Can Do It Better - Beautiful But Deadly
AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted - I'm Only Out For One Thing
Death Certificate - Alive On Arrival
Lethal Injection - Enemy
-
Rat-tat-tat is pretty annoying.....

Dre's 2001 to me was Sonically on another leverl and a classic when it comes to that but song wise in my opinion it gets a 4 out of 5 or 4.5 our of 5. Bitch Niggaz and The Message were weak compared to the rest of the album, Housewife was better but not too much better and the album should have left out a couple of skits. I've always though 2001 was very, very good, near classic but not classic. But that's just me...
-
Arent you from Europe mike? Go make another compilation of mediocre artists for your fellow euro fags to enjoy

It's not that I don't like the song, it's a nice song, it's dedicated to his brother and all and that's all good but if I was looking for meaningful songs when I bought 2001 then that would have been the only good song and the rest of the album would have been garbage. It's a nice song and by nice I mean pleasant and heartfelt, not dope; it was cool the first couple of times I heard it but now I skip it most of the time. When compared to the bangers on the album The Message is kinda boring and is not the type of song I'd bang in the hooptie and blow my woofers out to, but like I said, that's just me....

Its obviously not meant to bang in your hooptie and blow your woofers out....though i agree that it doesn't fit the tone of the rest of the album. That said, its one of the few songs on the album I listen to for the lyrics. Dre's production carried a lot of halfass verses.
