Title: Who is the number 1 civil rights leader/leaders
Post by: Compton Casanova on July 15, 2005, 03:43:55 PM
I would have to put Malcolm X at number one. He his a brotha who experienced every hardship, and form of racism you can possibly imagine. Through that he self-educated himself to become one of the most influencial man in American history. ;D

I used to think X, but I now believe I was blinded by the religion I no longer believe in. Nowadays I think it would have to be Martin Luther King Jr. However, I've always had a theory that X's more "violent" ideals pushed more people towards MLK's movement just out of fear, bringing people who normally would have not helped against segregation otherwise. I wrote a paper on it once.

I say martin luther king, cause I agree with Lincoln because of the semi-violent ideas of Malcolm X, I think in that time period I would follow MLK

Lincoln isn't muslim anymore?

Back in the day I did some research on Booker T. Washington and he was a very admirable intellegent man. He didn't have as much of an impact as MLK or Malcom X, but still a great leader.

Nobody said that civil rights leaders had to be black. It just so happens that black people are the ones who experienced the most civil rights violation in history. So right on with the Teamsters. 8)
