Daz Dillinger - Only On The Left Side... this is absolutely a masterpiece, a work of art in 2008
who else can drop an album like this and keep it 100% raw, uncut, gangsta West Coast?
seriously, I didn't think it would get any rawer then Gangsta Party but boy was I wrong...
thoughts?

Daz Dillinger - Only On The Left Side... this is absolutely a masterpiece
That comment is an oxymoron if ever i've heard one. its okay but its no where near as good as much of his previous work.
-
the album is good but wouldnt say daz is the best in the west at the moment.
half of the production is tight though

R.A.W. & Retaliation, Revenge, and Get Back= Daz's best solo efforts
Yes. And not to forget DPGC: U Know What I'm Throwin' Up. That was his last good record.
-
Why does my thing on the LEFT say -2? I got points against me for speaking the truth? I can't belive y'all disagree with me, just listen to Only On The Leftside and try to tell me one moment where D-a-z falls short with lyrics, flow, production, creativity, etc... oh that's right, YOU CAN'T!! Why is it that Daz gets so much hate, just because he might have dissed your favorite rapper once or twice?
As far as albums go, his newest is his best, and Gangsta Party and So So Gangsta were dope too... his weakest to me was R.A.W., what was so great about that? every beat was the same, listen to the style of the bass... where as his new album, every tracks is different and unique and meaningful in it's own way, and none of the songs sound the same or even alike
WEST COAST!

DPGC:UKWITU was ass IMO... Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta p was pretty good tho, that was some smooth g funk shit for the new millenium... Ivan Johnson really brought out some heat from Daz.

I thought DPGC U know what....was GREAT, especially the production. Daz just recycled too many old lyrics...but Soopafly was murderin the production on there. I thought that album was very slept on.
-
DPGC: U Know What I'm Throwin' Up was an outstanding record too, some really great tracks on there

daz hadn't had a masterpiece since the death row days.
-
Dogg Pound Gangsta LP was better than DPGC: U Know What... There was a lot of dope tracks on there.
-
Nigga u smokeing.

daz hadn't had a solo masterpiece period.
fixed

Dogg Pound Gangsta LP was better than DPGC: U Know What... There was a lot of dope tracks on there.
Agreed, but DPGC u know what im throwing up was dope too, the prodcution was on point. But the DP Gangsta LP just had a great feel to it, real laid back with that g funk producton

R.A.W. & Retaliation, Revenge, and Get Back= Daz's best solo efforts

there are at least a handfull of good tracks on Only on the left side
but...

Sorry but all of you are wrong, this album needs more praise... there is no justifyable reason as to why it isn't the best release from the West Coast, and probably in any genre for that matter in the '08 shot. I haven't seen/heard/smelled anybody even try to rate the album with a respectable and honorable opinion other than just plain hating because Daz dissed their favorite rappers. Man fuck all of that, it's all about who is releasing that QUALITY gangsta music, and DAZ is the only one who seems to be doing the job. All his albums deserve a plaque, Only On The Leftside deserves at least 2-3.
Somebody tell me one album that has dropped that is better, doesn't even have to be West Coast... I'm waiting anxiously

R.A.W. & Retaliation, Revenge, and Get Back= Daz's best solo efforts
You wanna know why? Cause Soopafly was by his side helping him out throughout the entire production of that album. Now that Daz is on his own, with Fly only contributing occasional beats, Daz has lost his touch. Look at that album, Soopafly coproduced or played keys on quite a few tracks.
-
the album was aiight but there is most definatly better albums out there right now... and it ain't Daz' best one
but Soopafly DPGC it looks like you may have some competetion ;D
-
R.A.W. & Retaliation, Revenge, and Get Back= Daz's best solo efforts
-
Sorry but Young Maylay is not a legit contender in this, he does not have any solo album, only a mixtape, so it's almost like he is nothing kind of.

I'd post my thoughts about this but it's hard to take you seriously.
-
It's hard to take me seriously because it's my opinion, which also happens to be the truth, or it's hard to take it serious that no rapper can drop a better album?
-
Post reviews of every track Daz has made. Prove to us you've listened to every song Daz has ever made and that is what convinced you that he is the best.
-
I don't have that much time *lol* but I can do a track by track review of maybe Only On The Leftside.
To be honest I can't say that I have heard EVERY song that Daz has ever recorded, there is un-released material and features. I also do not listen to EVERY album that frequently as I do with Only On The Leftside, Gangsta Party, and So So Gangsta.
-

But his mixtape is better than Daz's album doesn't that tell you something
-
I also do not listen to EVERY album that frequently as I do with Only On The Leftside, Gangsta Party, and So So Gangsta.
And you still think why people don't take you seriously?
Old Daz features on Kurupts solo albums are better than these new albums.
-
There is no mixtape that is better than any album. Mixtapes don't count for anything on an artist's resume. Next...
And yes Daz did murder those guest spots on Kurupt's albums, he outshined him most of the time. Especially 2000 and on.
-
Yes. And not to forget DPGC: U Know What I'm Throwin' Up. That was his last good record.
"Only On The Left Side" is a good album, "So So Gangsta" is great too
-
Thank you, somebody has some sense in here.
-

What? ::)
-
To be honest I can't say that I have heard EVERY song that Daz has ever recorded, there is un-released material and features. I also do not listen to EVERY album that frequently as I do with Only On The Leftside, Gangsta Party, and So So Gangsta.
So when you say you think Daz is the best, you are only referring to these last couple albums, because, as you admitted, you have not heard much of Daz's early stuff, other than an occasional listen of one of his older albums? As you know, Daz's style has changed greatly since 95, so you are a fan of Daz's newer style from the last couple years, rather then his style from the mid/late 90's?
-
There is no mixtape that is better than any album. Mixtapes don't count for anything on an artist's resume. Next...
If mixtapes don't count for anything why do artist bother to put them out
-
I have heard ALL of Daz's solo efforts, more than once for the record, but as of late I have been listening to more of his newer stuff, and my point is that these other artists on the West, their new shit all sucks. But not Daz though. That's why I praise his new material more so than old, people are stuck in the past and then find themselves over-rating older albums, and not appreciating what great music they sleep on in the new era. Mixtapes are put out by artists who have nothing better to do with their time and they need to rely on them because they can't stay relevant with a quality album. Why do you think Daz only drops great albums every year or so, and no mixtapes?
Daz Dillinger - $200
_________ - $0

-
i liked the album its not his best, but it aint his worse some very nice tracks on it, it was just a pitty half of them had leaked ages ago
-
And for those who are misunderstanding me, Daz is not the best rapper ever or of all time. Of course, just in the last few years. Especially on the West Coast.
-
So did you feel Daz's album Gangsta Crunk was a good westcoast classic album?
-
Classic, no not in a million years. Dope and innovative? Very.
-
I see, so it was innovative because he was bringing the south sound to the west? So you still bump that album on a fairly regular basis? What are some dope tracks from that album?
Also, so you feel Daz is the best because he doesn't drop mixtapes, only albums? Or is it the quality of his songs that you like? I haven't heard you talk about any songs in particular that make you feel he is the best. Can you give us, say, your top 10 or 20 Daz songs from these last few years?
-
I don't listen to Gangsta Crunk on a fairly regular basis but I might throw it in once and awhile. You hit the nail on the head because these other rappers were scared to do something different, but Daz was the first one to really experiment with it and have a Cali-Crunk sound, and now you see these other rappers trying to copy that swag.
When I get an opprotunity I'll have to post some of my favorite tracks ever by Daz.
-
. Why do you think Daz only drops great albums every year or so, and no mixtapes?
Daz Dillinger - $200
_________ - $0
Next...
Daz has dropped mixtapes with DJ Whoo Kid in the past and is about to drop 1 with DJ Drama, so why does he drop mixtapes?
-
So what Daz albums do you bump on a regular basis? I'm trying to figure out why you think Daz is the best on the west. He was great, he's now average at best. I've bought a lot of his newer albums, mainly due to the Soopafly guest spots, and I enjoy only a couple of the songs on his newer albums. I find myself liking about 3 or 4 songs on each of his albums. But the majority of his songs these days don't have that westcoast feel anymore. Some do, most don't.
Me being a Soopafly fan, when called out, I can call out about 20 or 30 great Soopafly songs at any time. You can't even give me 20 great Daz songs without having to get back to me later. I'm not hating or anything, I would just like to know what songs you are using as your reference points. Maybe I have overlooked them. Many of Daz's tracks feel rushed and uninspired to me. I think he released 4 or 5 albums last year. And he releases multiple albums on a yearly basis. Flooding the market with songs does not equal success. True, it makes it easy to find 20 good songs when there are 300 songs out there, but percentage-wise, that's not very good. Daz has released a lot of garbage tracks the last few years too. He's not as consistant as other west coast rappers in my humble view.
-
My thang is this, when Daz drops a new album every time and it's really that good, you best believe I will listen to it on a daily basis for just about the remainder of the year or even longer. I have listened to Only On The Leftside everyday since it dropped, and every single track on it is pure perfection. It all sounds just as fresh and new everytime that I hear it. My personal favorites on that album are... well, literally the entire CD. Lyrics, flow, delivery, punchlines, tone, mood, energy, are all up... and on top of that, the production, mixing, and mastering are just utterly impeccable, and it is truly the work of a pure genius.
The same goes with Gangsta Party, when that hit stores, I bumped it all winter and pretty much most of the songs on it until Only On The Leftside. The reason I love that album is because there is unity from all over, and in particular the Bay Area. The production was very consistant and had a very thorogh sound. I loved "Gettin' Money" the most out of all the beautifully constructed tracks on that disc.
I don't have time to sit here and list out every single track from every album Daz has dropped, because as everybody knows he has quite a grocery list of a catalog, so on a rainy day I will have to do something similar to that you did with Soopafly, because I skimmed through your posts and saw what you were referring to, except I will not go as far to do 100+ songs *lolol*

Gettin Money is a great song, no doubt. That's pure westcoast music right there. But, you can honestly tell me you like every single song from Only on the Leftside and Gangsta Party? There isn't one filler track or one track that you don't feel as much as the other ones? Some of his later songs that i've been feeling have been "Gotta Hustle It Up, Gettin Money, Caught Up In The Game, and Boyz In The Hood (w/Nate Dogg). And you've been listening to nothing to but these 2 albums since last winter, and will continue to do so until the end of the year? Yet you can't even drop a little 2 sentence review of each song on there. You should have them all memorized by now.
-
I am honestly not gonna sit back and listen to everyone complain about Daz releases.
u ppl should know not to get hyped about his releases in the first place.
Daz lost it years ago a little after the Dogg Pound Gangsta LP.
i would the last best albums of daz were
"This Is The Life I Lead" and "I Got Love From The Streetz" which were both dropped in 2002 and produced entirely by Daz.

"This Is The Life I Lead" was ALRIGHT. it was the last release of vintage Daz tho.
"I Got Love In These Streetz" was awful. I wasn't feeling that album at all.
what r ur favorite tracks from that?
mines wer (ive got an lp version with more tracks, not the ep):
I Got Love In These Streetz
It Feels Good 2 Be From Tha Westcoast
Tha Life Of A Playa
If U Want 2 Fuck Wit Me
My System (Tha Remix)
It's Just Tha Way U Move
Shake The Booty
Shoot Em Up
I'ma Get Mine Anyway

I just wish Daz would stop trying to do so much of the south sound. We got enough of that.

I personally like Only On The Left Side. sure it isn't his best, but it beats Gangsta Party and Gangsta Crunk.
I wish it had more guest appearances tho, with Soopafly maybe dropping a verse on a couple or bringing Kurupt in for more tracks, like the good ol' days. haha
and lmao @ "hippity hop."
