Title: Nas' verse on Detox "Topless" is clearly one of his greatest ever!

One Of Nas' Greatest Verses
http://www.youtube.com/v/cfPX0A5LJAU&hl=en

-NAS-

Your skin’s a travelling bag of your existence /
Yours is shabby and scabbed while mine’s glistening /
Vivid on my skin how many continents I visited /
You can journey with me to different places by listenin' /
Shittin’ on ‘em /
Yo brother got it covered /
We can slug it, knuckle it /
However you want it, I love it /
A hustler’s wit /
The grit, the grime /
My genetic code makeup: murder by design /
On Mayan calandar time /
When night meets day I’m in the light gray /
Bigotti like a high speed chase /
Adrenaline like jogging or jumping rope in place /
Muhammed Ali hobbies, no pilates /
Trying to keep the ocean by me /
Hit a rich man’s wife, see what the b!tch could buy me /
looking forward but it’s nice to see the road behind me /
hotels are 7 star, vignettes glowin’ /
keep ya lids yet dog, the private jet goin’ topless

-NAS-

...look at that opening.  "Your skin's a travelling bag for your existence".  What other rapper would come up with some shit that ill?   I really think Nas steps his Game up when he is rhyming for a Dr. Dre project like this one.  Another one of his greatest verses is from "East Coast Killah/West Coast Killah" off the Aftermath Presents album.

Yeah, it's a good verse from a good song. I still wanna hear a version with Dr. Dre. "Topless" was the best leaked song from "Detox".

Yeah.. when it's complete it's going to be a Monster.  Dre will probably step up the sound quality on the beat a little bit, maybe add an element or two as well.  Then with his vocals it will all fit.

..which Kurupt video is that in your sig?  is that "new york, new york"?

Yeah, I love that verse. The whole song is great, T.I. did his thing too. While I don't really feel that his style fits on a Dre record, Dre spitting that verse would be the shit. I really do hope we get to hear the track in it's final version, only leaked track Detox worthy.

BTW my biggest rap dream is to have a full Nas cd produced by Dre. He also killed the Busta Big Bang joint:

I'm the enigma, there is none harder, smarter
Martyr, Godfather, my interest, your departure
Pardon Dre this beat is a monster, catchy
Like sleepin under open windows that's drafty
Then wakin up my throat scratchy, that's how I spit it nasty
They short, a few inches North of a dwarf
My flow's Murciélago, ghostin them narcos
Toast in the ways of the original Pablos
Still a pyramid architect, mix liquors like a chemist
Killer lyricist, poetical tyrant
Sneaker store terrorist, Mt. Everest I climbed it
Heat is drawn, no creepin on me whenever I'm bent
My mind spray, my nine spray
And freak styles like 3000 Andre
To keep pilin, keep pushin them drops
Nas, runnin with hot Busta Bust, we don't stop

No doubt.. I had forgotten about this one.  I'm not a Busta fan, but I remember this joint was blazin!  Also, Nas rocked the Dre/Game track "Hustlaz" from the Hip-Hop Is Dead Album.

And about your dream of having a Nas album produced by Dre, that's a dream of mine too.  You could say that the Firm album was the closest thing to it.  "Phone Tap" was a Monster and overall the album was solid, however for a Nas/Dre project it wasn't the perfection we would expect and demand.  Maybe a solo Nas' album produced by Dre would generate the kind of perfection we're looking for.

I prefer Shit Popped Off personally. Far superior beat. Shame it lacks that Nas verse. That verse is definitely Detox worthy.

Brian is only saying this b/c Dre produced the beat.  This is a dope far from one of Nas's greatest verses let alone one of the greatest of all time.  IMO Nas and Dre together except for a couple of tracks have always been extremely underwhelming.

Nas & Primo >>>> Nas & Dre

Primo doesn't sound dated.  Did you hear MVP by Ludachris?

One of my favorite Nas verses,

Quote
I designed it , rhymed it - flow classic
You askin', who am I signed with?
The real deal is 'Ill Will', stays comit
Why is drama when other artists pay homage
You hate any rapper I do a song with
What's wrong with Nas helpin' crews get stronger
You selfish, wanting me to yourself
But Prophets need help too, y'all see Nas get insulted
I ride for the real shit, High as the Lock's get melted
Twelve Years, givin' you nuttin' but big moments
How can 'Murda Inc' not wanna fuck wit
The top hustler - R.O.C. crusha
Nas a legend 'fore 'BIG & Pac' left us
Bubbled wit 'Dr. Drizze', You heard it on Makaveli
Saying, "Nas is ring leader, brings Ether, brings heater"
Your dream teamer scream, "He's the Supreme Teacher"
Similar to anybody you know
Oh, I created, cremated, body that flow
Anyone you think is fuckin' wit me
Better be Vets - better be 'Ra', better be 'Kool G' or 'KRS'
Better be 'LL' or 'Slick' or them
Neva put me in the 'Top Ten' BITCH!
It's disrespect to the life that burnt the verses
Or nigga writes who comes first
It's the 'Ice Cube' 'MC Shan' them type dudes
So B.E.T.'s list was wrong, don't get me wrong
I did chill in the throne alone so long
This is my my will/quote]

i'll take a Dre production anyday of the week.

Premo is awesome, don't get me wrong, but like Dre-Day said, his sound is old.

if he didn't have a legacy & was a newcomer, most of his beats today would be "good" at best.

so speaking "Hip Hop Passes", Premo has been holding on to his for a while now.

Grey Hairs is one of my favorite albums in recent years.

great beat & more on that album; but i take it you weren't a fan of Eminem's Relapse.

my personal taste makes me more of a "banger" type of listener than traditional scratching & Premo-type beats.

Premo can drop sick ones like this, but i agree with Dre-Day in that he can update his sound a little; or at least experiment with it once.

"Who Got Gunz" by Premo is defo my shit, but I'll take Dre any day. Premo's had the same sound since forever, its dope, but he needs to switch it up every now and then. I was surprised he worked with Christina Aguilera actually...

On the topic, yup the verse is ill, the first line is on some next shit!

I wasn't a fan of Relapse, but it was mostly because of Em. The production was solid. I would also like to point out that Relapse was Dre's saving grace. A lot of what he's put out has been not up to par.

Why does Primo need to change his sound? All I ever hear on here about Dre's production is how he needs to go back to G-Funk.

I don't agree Premier is to blame for Rage's album being lackluster. To me Premo is to Necessary Roughness what Quik is to All Eyez On Me (or even Dre to Dogg Food for that matter) his mixing made the sound of the album consistent. The Daz beats on that record were mostly top notch shit, and I really think Premier is the reason.

I'll agree Nas has classics over Premo, "Nas Is Like" over any Dre/Nas track, although "Phone Tap" is up there! But Premo been on the same sound for almost 15 years, Dre continually elevating. Aint dropped a hot beat in 7 years? That's just blatant hating homie

I always viewed Premier as hands-on and less outsiders being involved where as Dr.Dre is less hands-on and more of him coaching outsiders to develop the sound he desires.  I don't even try to compare the two because it's not like they're trying to do the same style.  Premier is that New York hip-hop shit while Dre started off in disco, evolved to g-funk, moved beyond that to more traditional hip-hop, and such.   Most classic Dre beats are co-produced, can that be said for Premier?

I always viewed Premier as hands-on and less outsiders being involved where as Dr.Dre is less hands-on and more of him coaching outsiders to develop the sound he desires.  I don't even try to compare the two because it's not like they're trying to do the same style.  Premier is that New York hip-hop shit while Dre started off in disco, evolved to g-funk, moved beyond that to more traditional hip-hop, and such.   Most classic Dre beats are co-produced, can that be said for Premier?
