A Pakistani Muslim cleric and his followers have offered rewards amounting to over $1 million for killing the Danish cartoonists who drew caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad that have enraged the Muslim world.
The cleric offered the bounty during Friday prayers as Muslim anger against the cartoons flared anew in parts of Asia.
Weeks of global protests over the cartoons have triggered fears of a clash of civilisations between the West and Islam, and have led to calls on all sides for calm.
On Friday, thousands rallied in Pakistan; police in Bangladesh blocked demonstrators heading for the Danish embassy in Dhaka and in the Indian city of Hyderabad, police fired teargas shells and batons to beat back hundreds of protesters, who had stoned shops and disrupted traffic.
Denmark temporarily shut its embassy in Islamabad citing security reasons while Pakistan recalled its ambassador from Copenhegan for consultations.

Protests in Pakistan this week have resulted in at least five deaths and hundreds of detentions, and on Friday it became the latest country where Denmark has decided to temporarily close its embassy.
The Danish foreign ministry also issued a travel warning for Pakistan, urging Danes to leave as soon as possible.
In the north western Pakistani city of Peshawar, cleric Maulana Yousef Qureshi said he had personally offered to pay a bounty of 500,000 rupees ($8400) to anyone who killed a Danish cartoonist, and two of his congregation put up additional rewards of $1 million and one million rupees plus a car.
"If the West can place a bounty on Osama bin Laden and Zawahri, we can also announce reward for killing the man who has caused this sacrilege of the holy Prophet," Qureshi told Reuters, referring to the al Qaeda leader and his deputy Ayman al Zawahri.
The cleric leads the congregation at the historic Mohabat mosque, on street known for goldsmith shops in the provincial capital of North West Frontier Province - a stronghold of Pakistan's Islamist opposition parties.
The cartoons were first published in Denmark last September; but last month newspapers and magazines in Europe and elsewhere began republishing to assert principles of freedom of expression.
Muslims believe images of the Prophet are forbidden.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said it was recalling its own ambassador from Copenhagen for consultations. It did not elaborate further.
The Danish ambassador in Islamabad said, however, that relations had not been broken off because of the furore.
"I'm still in Pakistan and in a secure place," Bent Wigotski, the ambassador, told Reuters.
"There is no question of broken relations or anything like that," he said, adding that the German embassy was looking after Denmark's consular affairs.
Denmark has already shut its missions in Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Indonesia as a result of violence or threats of violence.
Protests in Pakistan have been large and violent and many have taken on a distinctly anti-US tone. Demonstrators, in addition to burning Danish flags, have attacked US fast-food outlets and burned George Bush, the US president, in effigy.
Islamist parties have called for a nationwide strike on 3 March, around the time President Bush is expected to visit Pakistan, despite the unrest.

Western leaders have been calling for calm.
Bill Clinton, the former US president, and Jacques Chirac, the French president, both said on Friday that it was a mistake to publish the cartoons.
Clinton, on a private visit to Pakistan, said he saw nothing wrong with Muslims around the world demonstrating in a peaceful way, but he feared a great opportunity to improve understanding had been squandered.
"This is not a time to burn bridges; this is a time to build them," he said, adding, "...I can tell you that most people are horrified that this much misunderstanding has occurred."
Chirac was blunt. "I am appalled by what happened as a result of the publications of these cartoons," Chirac told India Today news magazine which published an interview with him on Friday.
"I am, of course, in favour of the freedom of the press, which is a pillar of democracy. But I am equally for respecting everyone's sensibilities... So I deplore the situation," said Chirac, who visits India next week.

Taliban bounty for killing cartoonist

The cartoon row has turned violent in Afghanistan
A top Taliban commander has offered a reward of 100 kilograms of gold to anyone who kills the person responsible for "blasphemous" cartoons of the Prophet Muhammed, the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) has reported.
If someone killed the cartoonist responsible for the cartoons in Denmark, the "Taliban will give 100 kilograms (244 pounds) of gold," Mullah Dadullah said in a telephone call to AIP from an unknown location, the Pakistan-based private news agency reported on Wednesday.
Dadullah also said the Taliban would give five kilograms of gold to anyone who killed a Danish, Norwegian or German soldier, AIP said.
AIP said Dadullah was operating as chief commander of the Taliban waging an anti-government insurgency in Afghanistan.
The agency quoted Dadullah as saying the Taliban's list of would-be suicide bombers had grown since the publication of the cartoons.
Eleven demonstrators have been killed since Friday in violent protests over the cartoons in Afghanistan.

I think it's more a matter of, the hatred for the West already exists, and they're just looking for an excuse to act on it. So the cartoons may be the trigger of their rage and violent threats, but it's hardly the cause.

Do you think the US government tells Saudis to oppress Christians and other minorities? Do you think that if the Saudi ruling family was ever overthrown, that full and equal rights would immediately be granted to all religious minorities in that country? Yeah right.

4)women aren't allowed to drive,but saudi oil money gives every saudi women a driver(its only fucked up for westeners)
5)also there were mass protests about driving part and the rule is likely to change.

Tell it to all the non-Muslim women I knew growing up that got beaten up by non-Muslim men.
One of my x-girlfriends from back in highschool (before I was Muslim) has been an ongoing victim of abuse at the hands of her latest boyfriend. She has a scar all down her thigh from the last time he cut her up. By the way, she still wants to be with the guy, but he recently got rid of her.
Another one of my x-girlfriends from my highschool days, was also the victim of abuse. Infact, you probably have heard of her abuser because he plays college football for a prominent school on the East Coast. They got in a fight that got so brutal that she kicked the dude in the nuts so hard that the doctors say he will never be able to have children.
I have plenty of stories like these of the way non-Muslim men and women treated eachother when I was growing up. However, now that I am a Muslim I see most often harmony in the Muslim marriages I have witnessed.
