And Michelangelo didn't paint more than half of the Sistine Chapel, your point?
An artist is bigger than who pushes a pen and if that clown is the goat of this generation with his forced legend status then this generation Lost, see that? with a capital L.
Dude is straight up cheeks, has a horrible flow, pen game is barely passable, chooses the wackest beats and feels like the west coast equivalent of Erykah Badu. FOH with that mess when there are much better artists than him out there but the difference being he has the machine behind him whose intent is to make you believe he's great.
Sip sip went the Kool Aid.

There was also a video on Snoop's instagram that had Tray Deee talkin' over some beat. I guess it's for the new album. I'm always down for some new Snoop.
-
You guys must be kids thinking Snoop and Kendrick projects will affect each other.
Snoop is a vet with his own Lane and Style.
K.dot is the new kid on the block holding it down!
I was impressed with Coolaid, Snoop put some effort into that, at this stage in his career if he delivers something like Coolaid again, I'll grab it.
I'm looking forward to both albums, looks like summer would be nice this year.
-
aside from the average but not terrible Swizz Beatz joints on Coolaid that album was heavily slept on, one of my favorites from last summer... can't say there wasn't some vintage Snoop on there
You guys must be kids thinking Snoop and Kendrick projects will affect each other.
I think the only reason heads are making such comments is because of how when Kendrick and Xzibit's joints came out back in 2012 one was WAY more talked about than the other, I copped both though
-
^yup .. i remember writing a piece about that

Cover is pretty dope actually.

Cover is pretty dope actually.
Dope indeed! Came here to post the cover as well. ;D
The cover also makes sense, given the concept of the album:"From hearing me on “Deep Cover” to hearing me on The Chronic, to my first album to hearing me with Pharrell to No Limit to the reggae album to a funk album -- all the different evolutions of Snoop Dogg. but taking a snippet of each one and enhancing this new record with that same spirit, still keeping it new and fresh."
-
I dont like the cover, this is a very known and popular photo of Snoop.. but well I ge the idea because the concept is supposed to be the evolution of Dogg.
Noone did comment the pre-order track Mount Kushmore with Method Man, Redman & B-Real which is pretty cool and it sounds like may be Battlecat produced it 😎

Didn't know about the track, will check it out later. Battlecat'ish beats sounds good. 8)
I think, that's an unused photo of him standing by that 187 sign. All photos I know are from different perspectives. But I know what you're about, about the scene being well-known already. Just hoping the actual music is good, cover is secondary then. I liked his effort and flow on "Coolaid". It had some meh tracks, but some real good ones as well.
-
"So with this record, it’s more about me just doing something that felt good to me. Wasn’t under no pressure. Wasn’t nobody telling me I need to do a record, or I have to do a record," he continued. "I just felt like I wanted to put out some music to represent the generation of hip-hop that I come from, just to let people know that I’m still here and I still do what I do."
That's what he's been doing for a long time though? Doing what he wants to and not being told what to do by someone like Dr. Dre. He even said that he can't work with Dre anymore because they are both perfectionists. Yeah, right. Snoop needs someone to coach him and executive produce the albums for him or they always end up being like 20 or 21 songs that all have a different sound and feel to them. I'm afraid this will another one of those albums, but i'll definitely check this out.

This Album cover will NOT represent California G-Funk Music, it will have fuckin trap music. What you think ? Sicfuck??? Plug-in???? Fuckin hoes who i need to kill in here???

I just think the cover looks cool, never thought that meant he was going to take it back to 1993, or by somehow looking at a cover anyone would be able to figure out how the album would sound. Album could very well suck, but I'd still think the cover is good.
-
his last album had a few throwback joints, so i wouldn't be surprised either way

We’re just a few of weeks away from getting Snoop Dogg‘s Neva Left album, which is slated to release officially on May 19. With the anticipation only building more each week, the veteran rapper went ahead and finally debuted the official album cover for his new project on his Facebook artist page.
Snoop incorporated a throwback photo of him taken by legendary photography Chi Modu, who has taken shots of iconic hip-hop stars since the 1990s. In the cover art for Neva Left, Modu’s classic photo shows Snoop standing under a highway 187 sign in Calfornia in 1993, where the words “Neva Left” are written on the post in white paint.
While explaining the photo to XXL, Modu stated, “That’s my photo taken of Snoop in 1993 when we were working on images for his debut album Doggystyle. We wanted to take it in front of the highway 187 sign because of his verse in ‘Deep Cover.'” The picture displays a young Snoop Dogg, sporting his former signature jheri curl hairstyle that became famous during his debut album years.
We can look forward to new tunes to come from the Long Beach native in the coming weeks for his 15th studio album, which follows in the footsteps of his Coolaid album that he released last year. This new project’s goal is to try and capture “every phase of his illustrious 25-year career. In case you missed it, watch his new video for “Promised You This.”
-
love the cover, been seeing it all day on social media... seems that alone plus the whole Trump beef has heads anticipating this one more so than Coolaid lol and I fucked with that album, one of the best from last summer IMO

Snoop's flow was super on point with COOLAiD I enjoyed it, he didn't get boring and some of the Swizz Beats was knocking... like I still bump the album... and he had those joints that didn't make the album ... "I'm from Long Beach" "back up" that were dope as shit... I know I'm forgetting some others that were smooth too.. i don't get the hate on that album... it was seriously upbeat and Snoop was on his game ... like Snoop ain't gonna change your life his shit is to ride to smoke to party to... drink to smoke to ... shit even girls like his shit ... well see what he has has left ....

Yeah, I feel the same about "Coolaid". Snoop was on point and flowing his ass off on that one. Much more energetic than his usual form, I was really surprised he kept that energy throughout the whole record. From what I remember, folks appreciated his flow over here when it dropped, but some of the production was lacking.
The album didn't have any buzz at all and people just didn't care. I just notice some posts every once and a while naming it one of the most slept albums of 2016 on some sites. Album is slept on indeed. But the new album seems to do much better in that regard, the cover is being well received and makes people wanna listen to the album.
The official "Super Crip" video dropped a couple of weeks ago. I think it's from the "Coolaid" movie that will drop with the new album release.
-
if this song is anything to go by, its gonna be a banger

Agree wholeheartedly with this. Snoop's best albums have been achieved when a big-name musical artist is overseeing the album and Snoop's been executing that vision (Dre w/ Doggystyle, Last Meal, Blue Carpet, Pharrell w/ R&G and Bush). Without guidance, he turns out hodgepodge albums, which is a shame.
Dope album cover, but the album title is awful -- "Neva Left"???? Makes him sound like a blood :snoopfacepalm: (I keep a blue rag hanging out my baccside, but only on the left side, yeah that's the crip side) ... and then he makes an album called Neva Left. He could have thought of something else.
All I'm hoping for is a few vintage-sounding cuts, and I expect the rest to be modern-day sounding filler. As usual, Snoop could have waited a year or two and combined the best traccs from Coolaid and this album to make a really bomb album instead of rushing them both out.
I'm doubtful, but of course I'll checc it out.
-
^ I did think the same about the whole "left" wording but at the same time it should be obvious what he means by it with the throwback cover art lol no need to look deeper into it

I checked both BUSH and Coolaid this weekend and Bush was a really great album, even though there's no rap, the sound is amazing, AWAKE is probably the greatest Snoop song I've heard since The Blue Carpet Treatment! Coolaid had some nice joints like Super Crip, What If, Affilated etc. but the whole album features a gang of fillers with no replay values...

Nah bro it wont, I gave it a fair amount of plays when it came out (around 20 replays) and I still can't stand the Swizz tracks and some songs are also big fillers... but nowadays with all the quantity of Snoop songs we get per year I can't allow a song like "Feel About Snoop" to be on his official solo album... a song like 420 on the Grow House OST is way better for instance, even the U Name It song challenge produced by Battlecat was better!
BUSH was better because it was cohesive as an album, it has a theme and it was well rounded.
Coolaid is going in too many directions kind of like Malice In Wonderland which is prolly his worst album imo

7 Days is a EP, Smokefest is unofficial and I didnt count Reincarnated because it's a raggae album

it's not really tho, that's just what the people called it .. snoop released it himself and it was all new music of his at the time. the confusion is because snoop released it without label support and sold copies exclusively at shows he was doin. so now it's a "compilation", but if death row put it out then it woulda been an "album".. bullshit

Most of those songs were recorded while Snoop was still on Death Row. I'm not sayin' it's not official, of course it's official since Snoop himself put it out, but i consider it to be a compilation. Just like "Dead Man Walkin" is a compilation of leftover songs that were not meant just for one album or Nas' "The Lost Tapes" or Ice Cube's "Bootlegs & B-Sides". Those releases are not structured like albums are, if you know what i mean? It's just a bunch of songs.

Not really feeling that mount kushmore track. It's ok, but sounds seriously dated to early 2000.
There's 3 tracks I'm looking forward to
Track with the CREAM and q tip sample
Track with October London
Track with Tray Dee on outro after Snoop rapping
Those will be the best three tracks from everything I've heard so far

a lot of albums are structured like this though .. like slim shady lp was mostly songs from when before he joined aftermath .. is that a compilation? to me, any time an artist releases their own album full of songs they haven't previously released, unless they give it a special name like "unreleased hits" then it's an official album .. that's what snoop billed it as.

That's your opinion, ain't nothin' wrong with that. Here's how Nas feels about "The Lost Tapes".
"I mean it’s a group of songs, so it’s album, but also it’s not really my album. It’s just a bunch of songs. It’s an album in its own right like some lost artists from the 80s or 70s; some lost artists songs. Not putting myself up there, but if you found a Marvin Gaye ten/twelve songs he never released, it’s not a Marvin album but it’s Marvin Music. So I agree, it’s not an album by me."
-
I am with Okka iin this question.
smokefest aint a real solo album. sorry.

but they ain't lost songs or leftovers .. those were joints snoop did for his next album and he took them with him when he left death row to put it out independently. there's really no difference other than the way it was released .. if snoop stayed on death row through 97-98, that was his follow up to doggfather.

if you were to ask Snoop to break down and rank all of his solo albums in an interview I got a rack on it that Smokefest would not come up whatsoever lol

"Talking To My Diary" was the only song that was old. The songs on "Smokefest" wasn't goin' to be the next album after "Tha Doggfather". Snoop was gonna put out an EP. "Smokefest" was just a collection of old songs Snoop had done for various albums. For example, "Hit Roccs" was gonna be on the LBC Crew album.

No, i don't consider it to be a compilation. Those songs were on the "Slim Shady EP" and then they were added to the LP. You can consider "Smokefest" an official album, but i won't and that's because it's just a bunch of unreleased/leftover songs thrown together.

the point i'm makin is that a lot of albums are leftovers, songs meant for different albums, and unreleased joints thrown together .. u just won't know because most artists won't tell u. if u think most songs on most albums were recorded wit that album in mind, u heavily mistaking.

Yeah like the dre produced songs on nl top dogg were the early recording sessions of 2001.
Remember Me from the MArshall Mathers LP was supposed to be on 2001 etc etc

thats true, but smokefest is still not an album.. it wasn't recorded with the purpose of being put out as one.
and it wasnt all recorded at death row, there are disses on there

Exactly. It's a compilation.

if it's a compilation, so are most albums .. it's rare to find an album where all the songs on it were recorded specifically wit that project in mind.

You're absolutely right with that Malice N Wonderland situation, album was thrown together with leftover material. Same deal with this one. Very dissapointed with the tracklist. No need to hype up a new album with material that is already out there.

Cool to have an officially released version of the Vapors remix, but at the same time a bit weird considering its a song from 17 years ago.
If it is in fact on the tracklist, I hope it hasn't been remixed from the version that came with that Doggfather compilation from last year.

Not really surprised. This album is to Coolaid what More Malice was to Malice in Wonderland. Let's be honest, Snoop wasn't going to have time to record a whole album's worth of new material in the short amount of time that has elapsed between Coolaid and now. Snoop had to use old material to fill out the album. The question is, why even put out an album like this in the first place? Why the rush? I suppose it's just a business decision to try to monetize as much material as possibly rather than let it float around on the Web for free.
But it's this lack of quality control that is really burning Snoop's long-time fans like me who used to buy his albums but not anymore. He can't be trusted, which is sad. But, then again, it's a new era, and what does it even matter, really? Snoop's rich and doesn't need the money, so if this flops he probably won't even feel it. There's really nothing riding on this release, so I guess he figures why not put this out and see what comes of it. If nothing does, it's truly no big deal.

Is there gonna be hard copies? i dont see shit anywhere..

Exactly. Why the rush to release it? I was surprised when he announced the album as I didn't expect another Snoop project to be released that quickly - there was no information of him working on a new project. I don't mind putting never before heard songs on an album, but putting average songs on there that leaked years ago feels kinda cheap.
And this brings up your second point. Yeah, most Snoop projects (movies and albums) lack quality. And that's why people don't care about new projects, as they expect another half rushed effort not worth checking out. That's a shame, because he's still capable of releasing good music, but he just doesn't care or doesn't have someone to push him to step up his game, like Dre would.

based on the tracklist its probably a quick money grab.....aka no hard copies
-
y'all complaining, but snoop just dropped a legit project wit coolaid and it didn't really do that well......so he's back on his releasing compilations as albums shit
-
Coolaid was ok but that's it to me BUSH was way more consistant and he also dropped those albums back to back and they were both cohesive efforts but that Neva Left project I dont know why...

coolaid was a dope album.....only the opening track was subpar. rest was bangin, wit some classic throwback snoop flows on there

Finally that Big Bub track in good quality . 8)
Promise You This is a banger.

What I wanted to do on this record -- and it was a spontaneous move -- was to make a record to engulf every phase of Snoop Dogg that you’ve heard over the last 25 years.
I guess this is why he added old songs on the album. Lame.
so okka, i guess it's just a compilation
:tupachappy:
Definitely looks like it.
-
Alright albums has been leaked and i gotta say its definitely for the hardcore g-funk fans. It's a solid compilation but doesn't feel nothing like a album. Still worth a listen though.

didn't kendrick jus sell 300k hard copies in a week??

I'm feeling the album after the first listen.
Other than Go on, there isn't a classic banger on there imo, but it's a solid project.
The sound is pretty cohesive (although it may not be to everyone's taste) helped by the fact Battlecat produced a few of the tracks. It's very synth based, funky basslines, percussions etc so it fits altogether pretty well I think.
Also a good thing is that the album is under 60min long, but I just feel some tracks could be cut even shorter.

why 2 topics? couldn't they both be merged?

I heard there was going to be a physical of Quik's, but not sure if I believe it.
The thing is it's very easy to put out a physical release and release it only on Amazon. Not sure why it's fading away since a lot of people do still consume music that way.

Should people go through 5 pages before they read actual comments about the album?
