Title: 50 fallen of as a hook professional with Candy Shop?
Post by: gzs on June 17, 2005, 03:57:28 PM
Candy shop contains probably the most lame hook i've ever heard. I always praised 50 for his hooks. But this one makes me reconsider. I wanted to see 50 on Detox, especially on the hooks, but this one really makes me doubt.

You guys underestemate 50. Probably because of his image and popularity. The man has mad songwritingtalent. He has made the best track of the decade so far: In Da Club. The dopest hardcore track of the decade: Back Down, also over a Dre beat. One of the dopest hustler/ nothing to loose lifestyle tracks: Ski Mask Way. And almost the dopest sensitive track with Hate it or love it, sadly it has Game on it, who did a good job (Mentioning Brenda and Marvin was nice), but couldn't match the incredible autobiographical picture 50 had painted.

Forget the G-Unit bullshit, just look at his artistical abilities. The man has made topnotch tracks. The limit isn't even reached if A Baltimore Lovething can be considered as his lyrical standard for the future. I hope he can prove himself on Detox. Probably won't happen though. I think Dre doesn't really like 50 and his loud mouth persona much. He let him down on his last LP. That's the reason why there is a 50 - Game beef right now.

i think his presence on detox depends on how much the whole situation with the game and 50 pissed dre off. people think 50 will be on it automatically but this is a solo album from dre so he can do what he wants really, it will still be dope and sell loads.

In da Club has California Love status.

Name a more dope hardcore cut than Backdown since 2000. I'd really like to know.
Name a more dope hustler/ nuthing to lose lifestyle track than Ski mask way. Except for all Jay-Z records.
Tell me game outshine 50 on Hate it or love it.
Tell me the concept of Baltimore Love thing isn't worked out lyrically perfect.

Since Mobb Deep's Right back At You there hasn't been one track that has given me more fight adrenaline than Back Down.

"Now you stay the fuck outta my zone, outta my throne
I'm New York City's own...BAD GUY (BAD GUY)"

(Let's keep Pac out of all comparisons offcourse)

(Westside Connection also which was in a league of it's own)

I think mr gzs got a point. Some of us are majorly underestimating 50 - dude definately does have talent. Problem is that he just doesn't seem focused enough to put together a whole album at his best abilities. You mentioned Baltimore Love Thang, and I gotta say, when I first heard that one I liked the lyrics, however the SOUND of that song (beat, flow) still made it an AVERAGE track for me. Good lyrics, but that's about it.

But damn right, 50 being on Detox doesn't have to mean Detox can't be as big as it's supposed to be. 50 can come correct. 50 can drop amazing verses. I have full confidence in Dre not allowing ANY garbage verses on Detox. If 50 spits any lame bullshit, there's no doubt Dre will take him off of the tracks. Same goes with Eminem. Dre know about the high expectations everyone's got for his album, and he definately doesn't want to go out unnoticed. It's gonna be allright, really.

When did i say Baltimore love thing is the song of the future? I said if this song is his lyrical standard for the future the top of 50's songwriting capabilities isn't even reached yet. I don't even like the song. I'm just trying to show you the man has mad talent as a songwriter. In da Club has 3 different hooks in one song. People will be listening to it for ages. It has reached California Love status. 50 deserves to be on Detox he has proved to rock Dre beats better than Game, Eminem and everybody else from Aftermath.

How can you say In Da Club has reached California Love status? It has the potential to reach California Love status, yes, but give it some time before you say it has reached it already. It's quite a statement you say there. In Da Club is only 2 years old.

don't make outragious statemens like the one above just cause Em was retarded / on drugs while recording Encore (let's not forget the massacre was wack too)
50 couldn't rip a Dre beat better than Eminem used to if his life depended on it.

The Dre beat makes In Da Club what it is, not 50 Cent. It would have been hard for any rapper to ruin that beat, 50 made a catchy hook and rode the beat well.

Sure, 50 has talent. But he doesn't use it. Same with Eminem, and theres a reason behind it.

Lets see, on 1 hand you can make a cd full of nothing but tracks that could be singles and talk about:

1: Cars/Ice/Bitches/Whatever

or

2: Spaceships/Science/Stories/whatever the hell

Which do you think sells more?

Club bitches would rather dance to Ass Like That by Eminem then 100 Bars by Canibus

You make me laugh

First of all I deteste G-unit. Loyd Banks album, Young Buck album, Beg for mercy, never even listened to it once. Listened to the get rich or die trying and the massacre on the net, downloaded the best songs: Back Down, In da club, Ski mask way, that's it.

Secondly I will never compare any rapper to the poet. Me against the world has been the soundtrack of my life since it's release. (10 years)

Although California Love is not even in my personal top 20 Tupac list it has reached the status of all time hit record, just as In da club. Both songs, will be bumped on radio's 10 years from now. They are probably Dre's biggest hits.

Reason for their big succes is the fact that Tupac just as 50 Cent brought something extra to the table: they made the incredible beats even more incredible by making them visual. For this reason 50 Cent has earned a spot on Detox.
