We could put this one away for now...let it collect some dust.
-
i don't thing we should put some exlamation thang now, we should keep them fo a special occasion like , when the album drops or some, cause we'll get all confused if we get all kind of stuff beside the topic :-/
-
DR DRE himself said "DETOX will drop at the end of 2002". That was 15 mns ago on BET...
-
DR DRE himself said "DETOX will drop at the end of 2002". That was 15 mns ago on BET...
I will bet you it won't drop intil 2003.
-
well we can hit this topic up with what some people out there are claiming.
1) Detox from some Xzibit news on MTV.com
The rhyme hurler said that hip-hop's most acclaimed beat maker will not only once again act as executive producer for his next album, but for all of his future releases as well. "Everything from here on out we gonna make it crack," X said. "Dre gave me a CD with 38 beats on it." (Some will be used for Xzibit's album, some for Dre's upcoming Detox). "That dude ain't playin'. We just gotta sit down and collabo and make sure that we pick the right tracks."
2) I'm sure Daz was claiming that he will be involved. I'm trying to find where it was.
-
Daz aint working on the album . ThaFormula asked mel if Daz was working with dre on the album and that foo laughed hes ass off he said hell no.
-
didn't think he would be... he was also claiming to be producing about 50% of the blueprint in the same interview... see how that turned out.
-
Daz is a greedy Mutha...
Didnt Mellow Man say that Detox would sound like George Clinton on Crack?

Yeah, a while back. It will be some crazy shit.

"-- Dr. Dre's fourth album, Detox, is expected to be released sometime this year, according to a spokesperson for the artist who is nominated for this year's producer of the year Grammy.
When promoting his big screen comedy The Wash, Dr. Dre talked about his excitement about the album in the works. "I'm always trying to reinvent myself and do new things. My next album I really feel strong about. I really feel strong about it. I've started on it. I'm in the blueprint stage of it. I'm going to have a lot more time to work on this record than I've had before, and I feel like I've already got my first single for that record. I have probably about five tracks for it that I'm really feeling," he said. "They're really different. I know this is probably going to be my best record. It's gonna be different. It's going to be a breath of fresh air, and I'm not going to stop until I feel like it is that way."
I found some news in the latest issue of Entertainment magazine, they interviewed Dr. Dre, and talked about "Detox." Dre said he hasn't begun recording, and will start at the end of February. Bilal, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and Eminem are some people to be on it. The article said the album will be due at the end of this year. Seeing Dre hasn't even begun the "Detox" sessions, I don't see this dropping this year at all. Don't frown at some of those guests either, you know shit will end up totally different. Peep the article...
His Chronic days a blunted memory, the rapper-producer is doing Detox
He's given us the weed smokers manifesto The Chronic and produced Snoop Dogg's hedonist anthem "Gin & Juice." Now Dr. Dre wants to take us to Detox (the title of his next album, out late this year). "I just want to, like, come down a little bit," says Dre, with a laugh. "It's still in the blueprint stages, but I'm thinking of going just a little more positive. I want to be a lot more humble in a sarcastic way, if that makes any sense." Though Dre won't formally enter the studio until the tail end of February, he's already lining up guests, among them Bilal, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, and Eminem. Will his rumored anti-bin Laden track appear on Detox? "I kinda backed off from that," says Dre. "We had started [recording] it, but we were saying some pretty radical shit. I didn't know if people were ready for it." Will they ever be? "I don't know. We should have this interview again in two months."

i cant wait. but i got a feeling this wont be as big as chronic 2001. dre hasnt been very impressive as a producer since then. he seeems to have chenged his rapping style too. i hope its good, but doubt it
-

Did you read what you typed? LoL, you just said you can'twait for a worse album from Dre cause he hasn't been makin hot beats since "2001."
I think "Detox" will be so different, it may scare some generic rap fans away because of how unique it will be.
-
how bout this fellas, i think this is gonna be dre's best piece of work ever as a solo project......i think what were gonna see is a greal fuckin deal how dre has evolved over the years and put eben more of a new flava into this album.......
peace

Just when beat surgeon Dr. Dre will be giving people a taste of his own musical medicine is still far away from being determined, but his singing protégé said he's going to offer quality material.
"It sounds good, it sounds excellent, actually," Truth said of the little she's heard from the Dre album. "I like the direction he's going in. I've only heard a few [songs] and they were tracks in the making. The tracks were ridiculous. I think he's actually getting started now, getting into the groove of it. It takes him a while, he has to get in the whole mindset. It sounds a little more future than what Dre has been doing, but they are still ghetto, of course. Still his stee-lo. And he's working with other producers."

You might be right. I bet it won't be as big as Chronic 2001, but I think Dre will finally get some respect outside the hiphop world.
-
I think this album will at least be as big as 2001. knowing how dre is in the studio. His first solo album put rap music on the map. 2001, had a big impact on both R&B and Rap (Production wise), just about every song has that 2001 sound to it. I can't even imagine what kind of heat his final solo album is going to bring. I mean, this is his final solo album. He is going out with a bang that will send shockwaves around the music industry
-

I agree; Detox'll probably scare away the Ja Rule/Nelly/P Diddy fans, (but I don't mind!).
-
You might be right. I bet it won't be as big as Chronic 2001, but I think Dre will finally get some respect outside the hiphop world.
IMHO, I bet that Detox'll be bigger than 2001 ever was.
Oh, and Dr. Dre already has respect outside of the hip hop community.
-
yup that fool got a grammy for producer of the year for any genre except classical i believe
-
Hittman has been asked by Dre to write a majority of the Detox record and also appear, Hitt has been working a little with the big DR.
-
Dre has also been recording Rakim, whose Aftermath debut is due next year, and logging ideas for Detox, which he has said will be a concept album of sorts (see "Dr. Dre's Final Album Will Be Hip-Hop Musical"). "I'm gonna try to make this one the one they remember me for," he said Wednesday. - mtv.com
-
Since this is his last album...I hope it's at least twice as good as 2001...
I can't wait for it...I'ma cop it the DAY it drops...
-
Man....I PRAAAAY that this album ain't a disappointment. U never really heard him talk much about 2001 until it was gettin ready to come out....he has so much shit that people are expectin, I hope he doesn't do like he did with the NWA project and say it's not up to par or whatever.
Also, hope tis is the West Coast 2nd major reign.....we get no respect right now

I think it will sound like a mixture between old G-FUnk and Paid THa Cost. You know, Dre and Snoop talkin' 'bout changing the game, perhaps the Paid THe Cost style is their new style? I can't figure out how Dre could produce tracks and sound like the 'tunes tho..
-

"Paid the cost" doesn't have any specific sound at all.
All the tracks sound different more or less.
Btw, if DETOX reminds me of "Paid the Cost", I'll probably jump out the window..
-
detox wont be great without snoop
dre needs snooop jus as much as snoop needs dre
they make a great combo and itd only be fittin for snoop to be on it
plus you can have as much of rakim cube and eminem on it as u want, but real niggaz, well most ppl will much rather see a snoop dre track then any of the others......oh apart from the eminem groupies ofcourse, who believe eminem is god
but itd be great to see eminem snoop dre n cube all on a track together............even with xzibit if they sort out they differences, i miss that shit
peace

True, but making Detox sound like "Paid the cost 2" would be the biggest mistake ever done in hiphop-history.
I hope Snoop will be on at least 3-5 tracks, and I hope Dre refuses to have JellyRoll, Meech or BattlefuckinCat on there.

There Better Be NOTHING But A Complete Dre Produced Album!
-
word this shit cant be like sumthing thats already been made, dre gotta alot to prove on this shit believe it or not, bare folks are sayin his "fallen off" or like "its that same beat makin nigga agen".......shit like that pisses me off, but its tru, everyone at the moment be thinkin dre makin the same shit with like a slight difference with each beat he be making at the moment! and ppl be sayin he always doesnt make his own shit, he needs ppl blah blah blah
hopefully this cd will shut up everyone
but i have no clu what 2 expect from this
-
this album will be amazing....i wouldn't be suprised if it doesn't come until 2004
-
He will unleash a new sound when he's confident it will be good enough and creative enough that the 99 percent who are followers will start to try to recreate and copy the new dre sound. dre's upcoming revelation will not be new. nothing will ever be brand new in music ever again. dre is just going to mix, arrainge and create sounds and instruments in a way that has never been heard before- a Andre Mozart Young orchestral piece. like i mentioned before dre is always concerned about his legacy. Detox is going to be the last thing they remember dre with as an artist. he wants to drop music that people will remember forever. there is always a chance dre will play it safe and release Detox as a great final album thats nothing special. yes the instrumental tracks for In Da Club and If I Can't were made with Detox in mind. both those tracks are as good as anything dre's done the last few years. but in the end dre decided that 50 might as well have them, because Detox would be so much different. dre has changed his mind on Detox so many times he may change his mind back to something safer than the shit we are doing now. if he does play it safe, dre may disappoint you with a very dope album, thats great but not the mind bender you were hoping for. the last time dre played it safe was on truth hurts album. i sill like the released version, but the version i was thinking would be released was so much better. for some reason dre decided against using a lot of his own produced tracks for truth's album. if he would have released what i thought he was going to release only 5 songs would have stayed. so that may happen with Detox - but i doubt it . cause the shit we've been doing lately for Detox is bonkers man. we got a great team back together. plus there will be some great new additions, including some really eclectic musicians. i really can't describe the sound. just think of a wall of sound being shaken by a cali earthquake. i don't know what else to say. i just find myself laughing at some of the stuff cause its so goofy. but the aggression of the pace combined with the crazy instrumentations and swirling arsenal of sounds makes for some funky
and crazy shit. plus Detox will include by far the best collection of mc's for any of his solo albums. so things are looking very interesting. but there is a long way to go. and since i have no idea what will make the album i have no idea what the end result will be. all i know is that if dre
plays it safe it will be a dope album. but if dre goes crazy with this helterskelter yet incredibly funky and musical sound we're doing now - you will literally be blown away. so i hope i don't get your hopes up too much. but if things end up the way i think they will watch out. right now i don't know our final destination, but i am enjoying the journey more than anything i've ever done. plus
plans are back on for a 5.1 version of Detox on sacd, and eventually dvd-audio. if that happens you better get lined up for that musical expreience. if you like rock music i'd get dvd-audio right now and enjoy metallica's black album, stp's core and linkin park's reanimation. dre can't wait to play with the surround sound. i guarantee that dre will mix it better than anyone. Detox will be the
first 5.1 release, but eventually dre hopes to remix and release the entire Aftermath catalogue.
Detox may disappoint, but it might, just might be the most incredible thing you've ever heard. but don't get your hopes up on my account.
- Mellowman

I wouldn't mind waiting a year or even two for Detox. I want Dre to take his time with this album and blow me the fuck away like he did with 2001. It better be all produced by Dre although Lord Finesse dropped a hot beat on the last album.

Rocwilder and Dre? - 25 February, 2003 By : Nima
During an interview with Redman and Rocwilder on channel E!, Rocwilder stated that he'd be workin' with Dr. Dre on Dre's last solo album, the long awaited Detox. Thanks to Raks from the Aftermathmusic.info forum for the news.
So far we've had seven producers sayin' they'll be workin' on Detox: DJ Quik, Me-Man, Cube, Scott Storch, Khalil, Fredwreck & Rocwilder. Oh and of course Dre himself.
Stay tuned for more news on Detox, (thanks to CWalk from WCC we now know it is NOT a "Hip-Hopera") certainly one of the most anticipated rap albums ever.

Yup, I've heard it years ago.. ;D
A shame that Dre only does the chorus though.. Em & Dre got a magic chemistry when they switch verses..

damn, I don't know "If I Get Locked up"...... on what album is it???

Dope as fuck, and produced by Rockwilder..
-
- There have been recording sessions for Detox, and it's not gonna have a real tracklisting. It's gone be in different "steps". Like Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 etc and they will all have a connection. I guess Detox will be a real experience!! - Knoc-Turn'al - DUBCNN

Just Blaze Couldn't Believe Dr. Dre Call - May 7, 2003 By : Rud
According to AHH, Just Blaze is keeping busy working on various projects. One of those includes having two beats on Dr. Dre's next album. Just Blaze revealed how he didn't believe that he would be working with someone of Dre's stature : "I didn’t even believe that he was gonna call me. I was like yeah sure –cause that’s somebody I grew up with, since I was 11 years old. NWA was is still one of my favorite groups of all times, so to get that phone call was kinda crazy."
He went on to say that he already had a special beat ready for Dr. Dre incase the opportunity to work with him ever arised : "There was actually one beat that I’ve been holding for like 3 years, like 'I’m gonna meet Dre eventually and when I do I got plans for him. The funny thing is that's the one beat he’s really really in love with."
Discuss
We'll see if his tracks make it, last time Fredwreck's tracks didn't make the album, along with Tim & Bob's "Malibu Dre."
-
Yo "Murrow" do you really need those big ass pictures in your sig? Hella annoying!
-
I can't wait for "Detox"
But I personaly would rather have Dre focus all his power's into droppin'
Rakim's "Oh my God" instead..
Yo Dre let's get the God out first...then you.

I just got some insider news: Dre has decided to release DETOX just after hell freezes over.
Hah hah hah... The same ol' "it takes forever for Dre to get an album released" joke. Shit's old dude. We know. But IMO it don't matter how long it takes: reaching quality of Dre's magnitude can take a long-ass time.
-
^^ I was just commenting on how funny I find it that everybody gets so excited for his albums, when I wouldn't even consider the album coming until he gives a release date. He hasn't even done that, so you can bet your ass it's at least a year away. Peace~
an GOD BLESS YA, BROTHER!!!!
-
once rakim and ice cube drop their albums we can start some speculation..
-
^^ Yup, which should be sometime oh... 2 years from now. I'll bet cube doesn't come out until 2005.
-
motherfuckers should get their ass up. shits pathetic. they were able to record 50 cent in a few weeks lmao so what tha fuck are they doin this long. albums will sell anyway and wont be maserpieces anyway. so fuck it. dizzam!
-
dre needed from chronic to da chronic 2001 fuckin 8 years.piece of cake 4 him!4 sho!lol
-
Dizzam. Dre shouldn't have said anything about this yet. He oughta just made it in silence, then a month or two before the release date drop some info, then a single and a video. Instant hype, and it wouldn't have had time to settle down.
-
^^tru dat, it aint good to know to much to early........even though we dont exactly know much, but u know wat im talkin about......
-
It aint gonna come out until December or Next Summer.
All he need on his album is:
Snoop Dogg
Kurupt
Dat Nigga Daz
Eminem
RBX
Lady Of Rage
Nate Dogg
Warren G
2Pac/Makaveli
Hittman
X Zibit
No 1 Else
-
Dre needs to go back his roots and get people like Mc Ren and Cube up on Detox. Then he need's to go to people like Snoop and Nate (can't see Kurupt or Daz getting on Detox) along with Warren and RBX and Lady of Rage. Laslty he can bring it with his new crew with the likes of Rakim, Em and 50. And he need's to rap like he did on Express Yo Self with some hype and some energy instead of his slow mumbling style he has now.
-
After initially shelving the project, Dre has picked it up again. Look for it late 2005.

Summer '06 is perfect cause it gives it 7 years between each of his three albums, and marks the 10 year anniversary of his label. I think he is gonna have to drop Busta, Eve, Stat and maybe another Em album before his.

Does anyone remember when "2001" was first announced and how much time elapsed between its announcement and the release date? The first I remember hearing of "2001" was early in '99 around the time that Eminem first came out, but I forget whether it was announced even earlier than that (I didn't pay attention to the news as much back then).

Man,it should come out summer'06.and i think everybody is tired of waiting this so very much anticipated album

[The Documentary]
1992 (Chronic) +7=
1999 (2001) +7=
2006 (Detox (hopefully))
That's my theory.
Wasn't it always planned for 2006.
Also, the rumours about him giving all his good beats to game. Are they true?
Another thing.
I have some Detox tracks (i believe) (downloaded from limewire) (yes i still will buy the album).
And they are pretty good.
