Went to Jordan to visit Petra, Jerash, Amman, Dead sea and it was fucking great. A bit weird floating around in the dead sea,
with a bunch of other tourists, and on the other side of the sea (Israël) there’s so much shit going down.
The Jordan people were very nice, helpful and kind. And the food was outstanding.
Many friends and family couldn’t believe I was heading to the middle east when I did. All you hear on the news is about how dangerous it is over there.
The reality? It is pretty dangerous over there, but NOT in Jordan. Jordan is a bit of a safe haven from the violence going on in surrounding countries.
Jordan is on friendly terms with everyone that surrounds them, making it the safest destination to travel to in the middle east. Based on my experience there,
I can totally back this up. Regardless of where we went I never felt unsafe, and in fact felt much more comfortable than many other places I’ve visited.
Just want to share this.
Here are some pictures.

Great pictures. When the fanatics get into Jordan, all this will be gone. Buildings with Egyptian and Greek elements? And look at that canyon, it looks like a pussy. >:(

I spent 6 months living on a kibbutz in Israel a few years ago, and crossed over to Jordan to see Petra on my way home. It is an amazing place and I'm so glad I went there, though it must have been boiling hot if you've just been there?!
I remember we climbed up to this point where you could sit above the treasury facing down at it, and it was the best view I've ever had eating my lunch. Likewise the 'end of the world' view just a but further up from the monastery - completely breathtaking. Did you see it?

it was definitely boiling hot! especially on the way back down (noon) So, after the 850 steps to the Monastery, I was about to faint and die, so i crashed at that little restaurant.
in front of the Monastery, stayed and watched for an hour, had me some food and mint tea. and went back down. started at 6 in the morning to avoid the sun and most tourists, it was definitely worth it.
Thanx for all the feedback people, cool stuff.
