So for all those people on this forum, who continue to bash Snoop Dogg... Snoop did this for ya!
This was announced FIRST on the George Lopez Show, which is on as i speak!

Ain't shit else on tv so I started flippin through HD channels. Saw Snoop is on Lopez Tonight so I started watchin and he made the announcement that he signed Cypress Hill to Priority Records.
-

thats hot

Wow, that's pretty amazing - I know they're West Coast, but I wouldn't expect Snoop to ride for Cypress Hill like that because they're quite different styles really.
Good move
-
:o ;D but he still should sign new west gangsta rappers instead of the same ol same ol. Its only so many people he can sign and he's taking up slots wit his homies. He needs 2 sign roccett !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
that's tighter than a bowl of grits

Good shit. 8)

Snoop was never a good c.e.o. - even bad azz himself said so. BUT i would say, it's better to sign wit Snoopy now than ever - he's now acutally in the situation where he CAN put ur shit out foreal - he could do so b4 too, but it was more complictaed wit the TVT-thing.
now he is callin shots - at Priroty FUCKIN records! dat's big
i hope snoopy decides to combine release dates wit old blood and new blood. Mac Shawn, was a good look for the bay, and i hope dat next in line could be some new niggas like Raw Dogggz
-
does that mean that the new cypress cd will come out on priority?
-
Cool, maybe hustle boys will actually get an album? maybe Soopafly?(lol)
Maybe even a DPG album?
But yeah something new would be cool.
Snoop definately fucked up Bad Azz's album with putting "wrong idea" on there when it was already on the last meal, putting that as Bad azz's first single(i think it was the first?) wasnt good for Bad, IMO.
Iam not a huge fan of Cypress hill but still good news.
-
I wouldn't get excited until their album gets released...
don't brake my fun lol on the real i hope it's gonna be release i've been waiting for some new cypress for a while now 8)

anyone thinkin negative, i think this is positive. The Cypress Hill album has been worked on for quite some time and is probably almost done. Snoop has made a last minute signing with the intentions of putting this out asap. That's how I call it at least.

ok i'm even more optimistic now they got a label to put the album out but i was following what b-real said : it had good chance to come out on his label.....anyways i'm just waiting for the cd to drop 8)

I don't see the big deal with thinking that way. Considering pretty much every west coast rapper who is signed to a major label has been delayed or still hasn't been released. I bet if you make a list of artist, it would be 15+.
maybe more but i rather be optimistic than negative ;)

No doubt, I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but it's just the truth. That's just sadly how it's been for the last couple of years.
i feel you homie! Truth hurts sometime ;)

it's different for veteran artists for the most part. B-Real just put an album out not too long ago. And I think Snoop at Priority is going to release albums.

they know cypress will sell in the 6 digits (low 6 digits maybe but it still in the 6 digits),they got a strong fanbase,it's a sure shot!

^maybe around the world (maybe) but they ain't touchin 6 digits in USA. Sadly, around the world I bet they push 50K

not even in the lows? like around 100 00 - 150 000?

It's tough to call. I hope so, that's for sure. First week, It probably won't push more than 10K in USA unless their is some sort of surprise more than moderately successful single.

i'm sure that priority is gonna give a lot of promo(i hope) anyways i know im gonna cop it so im not worried at all

they would def push more than 50 overseas. they still buy physcial records in Europe, and Cypress Hill got more fans outside US - as a matter of fact, i'd say Cypress got one of the STRONGEST followings in hiphop - there's not a white skateboard, rock & roll-punk out there dat's not listenin to them

Good news for the west coast but Snoop should sign Crooked in the first place 8)
-
cool, i cant wait to hear some of this shit. hopefully being at priority will make it happen. dogg pound major album again.
-
this is good news!
-
Good news. Signed to Priority or not though, DJ Muggs still ain't producin' the whole album.

Was that even ever announced by Snoop or B-Real? I thought somebody just made up that wikipedia page.

good news, both work well together but id rather prefer if snoop signed a new artists cause its they that are going to be with us currently and next, the og's cant do it forever.

I thought the same but this might mean it's not

Cypress hill are an experienced act snoop should just play the background and let them do what they do.
-
I wouldn't hold out much hope for all the new or smaller West Coast artists getting signed...
Cypress Hill are a no-brainer for a major label as they've already sold something like 15 million records in total, so they have a track record, they still do huge shows and have a brand name, a strong following, etc.
Snoop's position is probably more of a publicity move for Priority, putting a famous rapper as "Creative Chairman -, he probably has very little say compared to the people who own the company and are on the board
Cypress Hill will have be easy to pitch in a board meeting - "what really big Hip-Hop groups are unsigned at the moment? Ah, yeah, Cypress Hill, they've sold millions and millions... let's have Snoop "sign" them, that'll be publicized everywhere and give their album some buzz, we market it to their big fanbase and make some money"
As opposed to, "hey Snoop, who should we sign?" "sign my little cousin, Lil Hustle Dogg G, who has no track record, no sales, a bit of an internet buzz on some West Coast sites, no shows, some wack production on a spin-off mixtape of mine, etc"
-
nah, ur wrong. snoopy handpicked Mac Shawn (Priority wouldn't eyeball an artist like him for a second otherwise), and he handpicked the re-issue-projects for the 25th anniversary blast off - EPMD, nwa and eazy-e
snoop's got an input for sure in the decisions
-

I am sure he will. The album has been done for a minute so it is not like they would have to make it from scratch. Just needed a label to push and promote it with.
-
thatz whatz up! 8)

Hand picked Mac Shawn for what? He's only signed Cypress.
And Mac Shawn was distributed by Priority for ages as part of Funk Mobb, and he has been in the game ages
And the re-issues are no-brainers as well - Master P's big album, Eazy-E's big album, and EPMD's big album... those are probably some of the biggest selling albums Priority ever had, they probably chose it on sales figures at a marketing meeting.
And why would Snoop pick an East coast group and a Southern rapper to get reissued first?
-
::)
Funk Mobb? when was dat? 96? lol. and dat was "distribution" - which is somethin else
Mac Shawn just got out of retirement - he got back wit Daz, who brought him to Snoopy - who figured "how bout jumpstartin my new westcoast-table at Priority wit him?". u really think Priority calld up Mac Shawn all interested-like? lol
the EPMD, NWA & Eazy-e albums were all pojects, snoopy chose for the re-issue catalog dat Priority is coming out wit. he said it himself - he decided wit goin wit those speciic projects, cuz those albums were childhood favorites of his
what? u think Priority is payin Calvin Broadus big money for smilin on some pictures n sayin "chuuch Priority Recors Preach". nigga please, there's a title - "Creative chairman". u want a encyclopedia-definition of dat?
Snoop dogg got more artists under his umbrella - Hu$tle Boz, Raw Dogggz, Soopafly -and if god willin, some of dat material may now finally come out- under Priority
-

He's worked with priority before, he's an old artist (you seem to want new artists, or think Snoop is bringing in new artists), and he's not signed
the EPMD, NWA & Eazy-e albums were all pojects, snoopy chose for the re-issue catalog dat Priority is coming out wit. he said it himself - he decided wit goin wit those speciic projects, cuz those albums were childhood favorites of his
Bullshit, it just sounds good on a press release, and also everywhere is reporting it's a Master P album, not an NWA album, so how was that a childhood favorite, it came out in the 90s... and isn't it a total coincidence these are some of the most popular rap albums Priority ever had
what? u think Priority is payin Calvin Broadus big money for smilin on some pictures n sayin "chuuch Priority Recors Preach". nigga please, there's a title - "Creative chairman". u want a encyclopedia-definition of dat?
People pay stars big money (we don't even know if he's being paid big money btw) to just smile in an advert for anything. What, you think Snoop is qualified to be handling business or even creative decisions? His latest album bricked as well
Snoop dogg got more artists under his umbrella - Hu$tle Boz, Raw Dogggz, Soopafly -and if god willin, some of dat material may now finally come out- under Priority
I don't know what job you do, but it can't be anything to do with sales and marketing, because otherwise it'd be obvious to you that Priority's marketing people will veto those things within 5 seconds
A huge group like Cypress Hill probably won't even sell 100,000 in today's market - the guys you just mentioned would sell maybe 1000 each
-
no, dat's not bullshit.
his favorite albums were always those 3 albums- he said so himself in previous interviews before the priority thing- so dat is basicaly proof enuff, dat the decision wit the re-issues of those, were called by snoopy himself.
Mac Shawn100's new album is coming out under DoggyStyle Records - which is TADAM! dat's right Snoopys label - so dat means he's signed to his label (either through a onealbum deal or whatever- but still a deal) - and this is obvioulsy a signed deal, cus DoggySytle dont do distrubiton deals - they're not fuckin KOCH
Mac Shawn has NEVER worked wit Priority. he was in a group called Funk Mob who released one album under a major - SickWidIt/Jive, which is a different label. and mac Shawn the solo released one album under a major - SickWidIt/Jive - which is still a DIFFERENT label
and "gettin distribútion", doesn't pass for "workin wit"..
if u really, reeally, really think Priority would've seen anythin relevant by todays market-standards in the artist known as Mac Shawn, if it wasn't for Snoopy, u need to jump on a plane and leave 1995 asap. is it so hard to believe dat Calvin Broadus' got creative input in a dyin labels future, in the year of 2010? lol, what r u smokin? Master fuckin P used to literaraly RUN that label back in the late 90's.. so why is Snoopy such a bad shot? sure, i buy it - the thing wit Snoopy bein a poster-child for the resurrection of the label - but it's more to it than that. Calvin Broadus' done been a CEO, before this.. he sucessfull established himself in various business before this - movie-companys, etc etc
and he had distribution-deals through Priority and TVT for his artists before this
His latest album never "bricked". we're only a few weeks in - and foregin sales aren't available on any scans anywhere yet
and the thing wit Cypress.. there's a bigger market out there. it is outside of US, and it's called Europe - and over there, ppl are actually buyin albums. That's right- albums! Plastic stuff. The ghost-numbers are always "?-marked" when it comes to foreign sales, but rest assure - by todays standards, those digits are ALWAS bigger than the american ones - ESPCEIALLy if those digits concerns a global name such as Cypress Hill (a band dat got more fans in fuckin Norway for example, than in the US). there's a reason why foregin versions of albums are always "special editons", and why smaller artists are releasin albums EXCLUSIVELY to Asia.

Alright, sure, I agree he's probably getting some input, but I think some people think that Snoop can now snap his fingers and sign loads of West Coast dudes and put them out major label style, which I really don't see happening
-
Let's give Snoop come time to settle into the position before assumptions are made as to what he will or won't do. Snoop wanted to actually sign B Real to a solo deal on Koch before he went with Duck Down so I think this Cypress signing is a good move.
-
now dat he is under Prioirty i basicaly think he can - i think he can stomp in to an ol' cracker's office in dat bulidin over there and say - "hey, sign crooked i, sign bishop lamont, sign g malone, sign woot woo woot" - sure why not? the thing is, i dont think he wants to..
i'd say he the type of artist, dat looks after his niggas..u feel me? mac shwan is his nigga, cuz the nigga originally down wit his cuzzin Daz.
soopafly, dpg, hustleboyz, raw dogggz- dat's his environment - his protigees
Crooked I, and all those other rappers - extraterrestrial outsiders
sure, Cypress Hill joined the stable - but other than them, i dont see anthing but Long Beach-niggas on there in the future

lot of people were left on dogghouse

snoop may not get peoples albums out but he definitely gets them exposure. i saw snoop i november and he had the hustle boyz, i had never even heard of them before that (even on dubcc) and they did like 3 or 4 songs. And they were with him at every concert on that tour, so its not like it doesnt help his artist's careers
-
motherfucker should've signed LA COKA NOSTRA
how is snoop suppose to sign LA COKA NOSTRA?. when LA COKA NOSTRA is signed to record deal with suburban noize records.

no, no major for bishop lamont

its not as if he signed a new group
cypres hill are a established group so its not like he went and found brand new talent....lol
-
Snoop actually does a lot for people in Hip Hop within the West Coast. He may not sign the likes of Crooked I, Eastwood, and obtain that eye catching headline, but he brings in West Coast mixers, producers, singers, writers, production staff, even if it's just a minor part on one of his albums to give them a chance, and to help them along their way or career path. Although his music style and releases suck these days, he does give back
-
Cypress Hill fans are all around the world and loyal. It was a smart move mainly for touring reasons. If he drops a hot Cypress album and a Dogg Pound they can tour the shit out of them. At the same time using his up and coming artists as openers to get exposer. Groups like CYPRESS HILL & BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY move alot of units all over the world not just in US or Canada...
But on another not it ain't CYPRESS HILL if MUGGS doesn't produce 98 percent of the album(in my opinion)...
-
A Cypress Hill/Dogg Pound Europe tour would be the shit 8)

yeah dont think lcn signed more than 1 album deal...theyd be dumb...interestin to know
their album did nuthin compared to what it should have done which is more
dope album but not promoted well
