Canibus is my fav.. not sure he's the best, but he's def one of the best I've ever heard. His verse in beast from the east is without a doubt my favorite verse in hip hop
-
kane, g rap, pun, gift of gab, del, and too many others besides the ones already mentioned.
-
Crooked I, Nas, Biggie and Jay-z....i think right now......the list could change if you ask me again.later... 8)
-
1: Pharoahe Monch - In his own class.. got the flow, charisma & voice that Ras misses. The old Ras may be more lyrical at times, but Pharoahe takes it by far today. Extemely lyrical, and with several flows.. Very versatile.
2: Ras Kass - Awesome lyricist, but have started to dumb down his lyrics. Also lacks in areas like voice, flow & charisma.
3: Eminem - Dope lyricist, have progressed through the years, and is better than ever.
At his best, he could be #1 on this list, but certain tracks keeps him from that.
His ego is also too big for his own good.
4: Canibus - Also have a extreme vocabulary, but some times too extreme. They dont call him "The mad professor" for nothing.
Can be annoying to listen to pretty quick, IMO.
5: Nas - A top lyricist, with nice wordplay, and the complete MC-package. Doesn't have the same vocabulary as some of the others on the list though, and his gimmicks is sometimes a little too much for some. (e.g. me)
Honorable mentions:
Scarface (Could easily have replaced Nas on the list)
Kool G Rap
Xzibit
Rakim (May easily return at #1)
B.I.G
Jay-Z

That has to be the BEST summary of eminem i have ever heard
-
Currently, I'd have to say either Nas or Em.
-
The best lyricist out there today I think is either Talib Kweli or Rakim.
The greatest lyricist of all time is Big Punisher. (R.I.P.)
-
DV Alias Khrist and Inspecta Deck are dope too.
-
2pac lol fuck them other fools 8)
-
RAKIM - DOPEST LYRICIST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
of all time: biggie
right now: eminem
-
Dopest lyricist has to be GZA/Genius his flow is unbelievable, he's just underrated because he has 9 other members in his squad.

..lmao this is why i don't take you seriously jome..
he dropped the dopest wu solo album(ls) and had 3 above average ones. not to mention he executes the best concepts out of anyone of the members and still remains the best lyrically..
what more do you want?

More like.. 3 average ones and one dope.
When you listen to a Wu-track, GZA doesn't have anything that REALLY sets him apart from the other members.
That's why Meth & Ghost is by far the 2 best in the Wu, IMO, followed by GZA and Rae.
But say whatever you want.. Wu have been discussed up and down and back again, everybody gotta have their favorite.. ;)

wtf? legend of the liquid sword was one of the best albums of last year. 4 mics at the least. beneath the surface was above average too..it just got hate because he switched up producers and didn't rap that much on it. words from the genius was pretty good maybe not above average but it was better than other wu albums that have gotten released in the past...i'm talking about THE BEST and most consistent wu member..people might have their favorites(like mine is ins) but gza is undoubtebly the most talented member..
