I've always wondered this about Redman's verse on All Eyez On Me. They say he's such a dope lyricist and everything but I what the hell was he talking about in his verse on All Eyez On Me. I didn't catch any of his metaphors, it all went totally over my head and maybe somebody can explain to me what is dope about it. His flow was ill, and it sounded good anyway because it was such a great song.. but it made no damn sense. Infact, nobody's lyrics were really that dope on the song. It sounds rushed, but 2pac had the midas touch at the time so it still worked somehow.
First Daz spits a lazy rhyme and ends it with...
"for me to put down my guard, I'm faced with it, I'm a ride
breakin in gas with the six-eight all day
In and out with my pay
I'm soon to count the bodies..."
...first of all, it doesn't rhyme, and second of all, what does "soon to count the bodies mean". So he's gonna come back and count the bodies he killed after a robbery? I don't get it.
2pac spits a nice verse, his metaphor about "put that ass in the dirt, you'd swear the bitch was planted".. and his reference to Janet Jackson was touching.. but then he finishes by just biting Rakim, which is okay, we will call it a compliment, or a tribute to Rakim, no big deal.
"Yo, two years ago, a friend of mine
Told me Alize and Cristal blows your mind
Bear witness to the dopest fuckin rhyme I wrote
Takin off my coat, clearing my throat"
I guess Kurupts verse was pretty dope, but I did always wonder.. who the hell is Jason Vorhees?
...then the Jews at the Interscope label like Jiimmy Iovine allow black rappers to say all the worst about other blacks but they edit Method Man for saying
"like Hitler
Sticking up (Jews)
with German lugars"
..anyway, pretty dope verse...
..now we come to the Redman verse... could someone explain these lines...
-"Non-believers get my dick and genitals backwards" (?)
-"With, this underground cannabis
I'm dangerous like John the bomb analyst" (?)
- "Then proceeds like keys
My degrees freeze consecutively like EPMD LP's"
- "Lick off a shot and hit ya fam by mistake
So I erase the whole front row at the wake
I planned my escape in case jake or a snake bust it
I'm the one pushin the hearse in the first place" (?)
"Pump for Rockafella for the day he got smoked
choke, off this anecdote got you ope" (?)
..the only part of his whole verse I get is the part about blowing out till the ears pop and the few lines that proceeded it. Anyway, always wondered about this track.
-
Well, Jason Voorhees is the hockey masked killer in all the Friday the 13th movies. So that line makes sense. The rest I can't really help you on.
-

well.. it's only Redman's verse I was confused with... and then the Jason Vorhees line only sounded strange to me because I didn't know who he was. I actually thought it was a character in the Steven Seigal movie "Under Siege" for a long time.. lol
-
Does it really matter that much man?I mean, it's a classic track and redman sounds insane on it if you ask me, he just rips it along with everyone for that matter. And to answer your question I think every line has it's meaning, like that rockafella one, where he reffers to that skit and song on his dare iz a darkside album
-
if you check the Kurupt thread Moon Knight just posted the version with the Deck verse that was cut off
-
Meth killed it IMO.lol @ "jews" and "hitler" was edited.
is the word "jew" always edited?like in "no vaseline" too?
wtf edits it?
-

The song is poorly edited from the original. When 2Pac's verse was put in part of Daz's verse was cut. His last line said, "And soon to count the bodies laid."
-

The original No Vaseline that was released on Ice Cube's AmeriKKKaz Most Wanted was not edited. The one released by Death Row on Death Row's Greatest Hits was the one that was edited.
-
if you check the Kurupt thread Moon Knight just posted the version with the Deck verse that was cut off
Was this ever released?
-
Cool thread.
I can't help u with your questions, but is that Inspecta Deck at the end of the song?
Something "INS the rebel, this, .... "
-
if you check the Kurupt thread Moon Knight just posted the version with the Deck verse that was cut off
I thought that was proven to be fake?
-
Does it really matter that much man?
No.. it doesn't matter much more than anything else we talk about in this section of the forum.

Okay.. well that explains that part. Props.

Jews own almost every major record label. Jimmy Iovine owns Interscope. Jerry Heller owned Ruthless. Clive Davis owned Bad Boy/Arista/J Records. Lyor Cohen owned Def Jam. Steve Rifkind owned Loud Records. And Jews also own Viacom which owns MTV and which has also owned BET since around 1999 when a black man, Robert Johnson, sold out (which is stupid because how are you going to have a Black Entertainment Television station when your station is owned by Jews).
-
Cool thread.
I can't help u with your questions, but is that Inspecta Deck at the end of the song?
Something "INS the rebel, this, .... "
Which is another part of the song that didn't really make sense. Just throwing Inspectah Deck at the end of the song to say... "this.. this.."
-
The song is poorly edited from the original. When 2Pac's verse was put in part of Daz's verse was cut. His last line said, "And soon to count the bodies laid."
lol.. yeah, Daz verse just sounds like it fades out or something like he wasn't available to fix it when they were mixing it down.. even though he's the one who produced it.. lol
-
How did Cube get away wit dissin Jews on the reg?
-
if you check the Kurupt thread Moon Knight just posted the version with the Deck verse that was cut off
I thought that was proven to be fake?
from what I understand that was the same verse he spit but on a different record and it was mixed in, so yeah its not the OG in its true form but a remixed version
-

Yeah the original had Rage and Deck on it, never heard it though. Pac loved the song so much he asked Daz to put it on his album and he added his verse to it and took Rage and Deck off of it. Rage talks about the original track in the interview she did with Nima last year.

Rage and Deck would of sounded ill over that track... I wish they would of just made it like a 6:00 long track and kept everyone on there.
-
so Redman's verse didn't make sense but Daz, Kurupt and Meth's did?
have you ever heard Redman other than this song?

jason vorhees = friday the 13th bad guy
man you need to watch some movies

Here is what the homies D-Nice and HighEyeQue were talkin bout.
Props to Moon Knight! 8)
........................................................
Someone recently located Inspectah Deck's "Got My Mind Made Up" verse. Out of nowhere this surfaced. The story behind this track is that 2Pac took the track from Tha Dogg Pound, which originally also had Lady Of Rage on it. He liked it, recorded his own verse. Only it was a bit too long so he cut both Inspectah & Rage off.
2PAC ft. THA DOGG POUND, METHOD MAN, REDMAN, INSPECTAH DECK Got My Mind Made Up (w/ Extra Verse) 8)

Kurupt had the best verse IMO
"ur whole camps under seige, and I'm Jason Vorhees"
right after Kurupt starts rapping Method Man comes in and kills it :o
everyone was tight even Daz though his vocals could be a little louder
-
who the hell is Jason Vorhees?
lmao, are you kidding me?
-
everyone was tight even Daz though his vocals could be a little louder
Daz gets no love on this forum. lol
-
Pump for Rockafella for the day he got smoked roccafella was redman's equal who got killed.
jason vorhees like the rest have said was a sicc killer from the friday the 13th movie, damn didn't know people ain't know him.
pac used run dmc mixed with rakim. the "two years ago a friend of mine..." was from run dmc's succ'r mc's, and the "take'n off my coat clearing my throat was from eric b and rakims "eric b is president"
ice cube was allowed to say "you let a jew break up my crew" on no vasaline from the "death certificate" album not amerikkka's most wanted
rage and ins the rebel was cut off the song, and daz verse was cut
hope that helps yo teacher b.o.x. hahaha yell
-
everyone was tight even Daz though his vocals could be a little louder
Daz gets no love on this forum. lol
I didnt really mean it like that
the threadstarter said Daz verse was wack so It was kinda towards him LOL

If this was origionally a Dogg Pound track then had the Dogg Pound not given away so many great songs imagine the way there sophmore album could have sounded... just off the top of my head here are Dogg Pound tracks recorded in 96 that they gave away for other people albums....
The Dogg Pound album that could have been...
1. "Got My Mind Made Up" feat. Inspectah Deck, Rage, Method Man, Redman
2. "Initiated" feat. 2pac and the Outlawz (from Daz solo)
3. "Blueberries" feat. Ital Joe (from Doggfather)
4. "Groupie" feat. Nate Dogg (from Doggfather)
5. "Me In Your World"- (from death row greatest hits)
6. "Nothin but a Cavi Hit" feat. Mack 10
.....even if the rest of the tracks were all filler this would of been a great album

I didn't know they gave away "Groupie."

damn... that album looks so good it makes me want to mix a copy for myself just to see what it would have sounded like on one disc. The Dogg Pound were really on fire in that era and couldn't miss... they had the hardest shit in gangsta rap.... they were still on fire in early 98 when Daz dropped Revenge, Retaliation Get Back which doesn't miss a step from their earlier sound... it wasn't till Kuruption that these two had their first miss.
-
Abd, I don't consider Streetz Iz A Mutha a miss though.
if anything, they kinda cooled down around 2001 when Kurupt released Space Boogie.
the next couple Daz solos really didn't impress me (DPGC: U Know... and I Got Love in These Streetz).
then Daz and Kurupt actually released impressive albums in 2005 and ever since then, they really haven't regained anything album-wise.
their beef really fucked shit up cuz both of them had some nice flows from 2002-2005 and coulda released a couple good solo/group albums during that time.

I agree that Streetz Is A Mutha and Space Boogie were solid albums (although not to his death row level). But what I said was that up until Kuruption the DoggPound were on fire and they never released one bad track.
-
yea, true.
I also forgot to mention So So Gangsta. this album was decent and had a couple tracks left off it that if put on it, it's a solid fuckin album.
I really don't see Daz getting any better solo-wise though. I favor Kurupt a little bit more in that category.
as for future DPG albums, we'll see.

how did pac "bite" rakim?
biting is when you take something and pass it off as yours... in 96 everyone would have recognized that line. classic shit

yeah.. I know.. that's why I said it was more of a tribute and that it was no big deal.
-
if you look at Daz whole verse lyrically its dope but either his vocals were mixed badly or he delivered them too laid back
-

chill

Wow, this is the first time I've ever heard of this. Dogg Pound gave up a ton of their material to other artists in the Death Row era. We have to bring Tha Dogg Pound in to DubCNN and figure out why they did this.
Redman's verses always made sense to me. I know who Jason is, I know why nonbelievers get his dick and genitals backwards (Hee hee). And I still like his old style. You gotta check out "Tha Points" for an example 8)
Daz, hear me out: you should re-release the original version of "Got My Mind Made Up" on a greatest hits album, or something. I wanna hear Rage!
Speaking of Rage...
-
redman had one of the best verses on that track.
-

people tend to underrate daz's verse on that track because of that.he fuckin' completely MURDERS it and I fuckin' love it!I wonder if kurupt wrote it for him or did he write it himself, and I am sure back then he was capable of writing a verse like that himself
-

in hip hop bacc in the day that was "biting" muthafuccas just got lax with it,don't get me wrong it's giving props, but when rap started if you said another mc's shit you was biting simple as that, why you think when digital underground made the song "DOWHATULIKE" humpy said a couple of people's lyrics like ,"since you came here you got to show and prove, and do that dance, until you can't move" and he finished with "sometimes i bite", that was just how the game was networth yell
-
Kurupt stole the SHOW on this song though , you could hear METH in the baccground gettin hyped when Kurupt was rippin it !!!!!! 8) 8) Classic Hip Hop and 2 Pac had the 2nd best verse and niggaz thought Pac couldnt spit !!

I would put Pac's verse towards the bottom of the list, Daz verse is better to me. It was still tight though, everybody came correct on this track.

All Kansas City/St. Louis rap is wack.. and that includes Tech9. The only thing Tech9 ever did that was dope was the verse he spit on the Sway and Tech album that had about 9 other rappers on it.

go see a doctor, you must've hit your head!
-
ok here goes a breakdown.. you have to be old school intelligent to decipher what Redman is saying.. but it makes sense..
-"Non-believers get my dick and genitals backwards" (?) Means - you get fucked in the ass .. simple
-"With, this underground cannabis
I'm dangerous like John the bomb analyst" (?) means - John the bomb analyst is from the movie "Blown Away" meaning his weed is so good youll get blown away!!
- "Then proceeds like keys
My degrees freeze consecutively like EPMD LP's" Means - Freeze was one of the illest producers in the day and he did tracks on EPMD albums.. Redman is basically saying that he's cold when he spits..
- "Lick off a shot and hit ya fam by mistake
So I erase the whole front row at the wake
I planned my escape in case jake or a snake bust it
I'm the one pushin the hearse in the first place" (?) Means - first means he'll shoot a family member by mistake but he'll kill your whole family so noone will be left to sit in the front row at your funeral..... a "Jake" is a detective and "Snake" is a snitch... so hes saying he gets away before a detective or snitch bust him.. but hes the one who is driving the funeral car anyway.. its actually pretty smart..
"Pump for Rockafella for the day he got smoked
choke, off this anecdote got you ope" (?) Means - basically his weed costs alot of money and youll choke on it if you hit it.. for the most part it translates to that...
This is the 2nd best verse on the song... Method Man kills it..
-
ghostface never makes sense but hes one of my favorite rappers

anyone have the Fatal freestyle over this beat? someone should mix it in.
2pacs verse over redman and daz? smh.
I remember first seeing this lineup and thinking man I hope Pac can hang with these lyricists. He did his thing though.
-
how can anyone put Daz last this was one of his greatest verses :-\
You find an MC like me who's strong
Leavin motherfucker's aborted, with no verbal support
And when I command the microphone I gets deadly as Kahn though
With a bear and a snake and a panda, I'm on those
Who can withstand, the mo' power I gain
and make it possible for me to drop a few to wreck ya brain
Imagine and keep on wishin upon a star
Finally realizing who the fuck we are
When I penetrate, it's been withstandin, faded
would it be the greatest MC of all time
When I created rhyme for the simple fact
When I attack I crush your pride
My intention to ride, every time all night
I'm faced with the scars beyond this one bar
for me to put down my guard, I'm faced with it, I'm a ride
breakin in gas with the six-eight all day
In and out with my pay
I'm soon to count the bodies laid

His verse was cold blooded. In fact his work on that 1st disc of AEOM was classic material. All of it.

redman had one of the best verses on that track.
in terms of best verses on this song:
kurupt
method
2pac
(deck)
redman
daz
yea, that's how I'd order it too, except I'd put Daz ahead of deck and redman.

2pac on his worst day > daz on his best day
redmans verse was okay i guess
but Pac-Kurupt-Meth was the steak of the song. the other verses are just the french fries on the side.
So mandatory my elevation my lyrics like orientation
So you can be more familiar with tha nigga you facin
We must be based on nothin better than communication
Known to damage and highly flamable like gas stations (clever)
Sorry I left that ass waitin
No more procrastination give up to fate, and get that ass shakin (i don't like rhyming ass waitin and ass shakin but he atleast worked in procrastination and give up to fate to fit the scheme)
I'm bustin and makin motherfuckers panic
Don't take ya life for granted put that ass in the dirt
You swear the bitch was planted (haha)
My lyrics motivate the planet
It's similar to Rhythm Nation
but thugged out, forgive me Janet (OHHH SNAP)
Who's in control I'm acvtivatin yo souls
You know, the way the games get controlled
Yo, two years ago, a friend of mine (nice homage to run dmc)
Told me Alize and Cristal blows your mind
Bear witness to the dopest fuckin rhyme I wrote (ok so it's definetely not the dopest rhyme he's ever wrote)
Takin off my coat, clearing my throat
i'll definetely take Pac over Daz. daz's rap was wack and uninspiring, Pac was loud and clear.

Pac's wordplay was incredible on that verse.

this shit is pitiful, if you can't understand what rappers are saying maybe hip hop isn't for you.
i can even listen to a cam verse and understand everything he is saying when most of you crackers don't get it.
-

yea, it was a good way to start off the song and was probably meant to be low (in volume).
-
i think everyone killed it. its a classic song
-
^^ yea, they all fit well on it.
-
who the hell is Jason Vorhees?
lmao, are you kidding me?
-
I still say Daz killed it...

If this was origionally a Dogg Pound track then had the Dogg Pound not given away so many great songs imagine the way there sophmore album could have sounded... just off the top of my head here are Dogg Pound tracks recorded in 96 that they gave away for other people albums....
The Dogg Pound album that could have been...
1. "Got My Mind Made Up" feat. Inspectah Deck, Rage, Method Man, Redman
2. "Initiated" feat. 2pac and the Outlawz (from Daz solo)
3. "Blueberries" feat. Ital Joe (from Doggfather)
4. "Groupie" feat. Nate Dogg (from Doggfather)
5. "Me In Your World"- (from death row greatest hits)
6. "Nothin but a Cavi Hit" feat. Mack 10
.....even if the rest of the tracks were all filler this would of been a great album
don't forget the DP original of Can't C Me which is call can't C Us
and since last year we know that Rage was originally on Me In Your Workd ;-)

-
Kurupt and Redman OWNED that track. And that's saying something, because everyone else dropped dope verses
-
I still say Daz killed it...
Daz always had a dope flow, unfortunately he has shit to say.
-
Kurupt killed it. He explained a lot of his lyrics on rapgenius.com a few months ago and he went through this verse.
-
Tech N9ne almost nver makes sense
huh?
-
Just heard the Inspectah Deck verse for the first time... was fuckin sick!!
-
This is a pretty accurate lyric transcript and it makes sense mostly...
Aiyyo, lyrical gas spittin the criminal tactics
Non-believers get my dick and genitals backwards <----------- Sayin you can suck his balls and dick from the back if you dont believe how dope he is.
Let's face it, there's no replacement
Taste this, mad underground basement, shit I'm laced with <------------- The basement has always been where the cyphers happen
Avalanche on your whole camp when I'm splifted <----- outrap your whole crew when hes high
Funk Doctor who? Spock bitch don't get it twisted <--------- Dont mistake him for someone else
I got connects like Federal Express <------------ federal Express is everywhere
to get the fresh package of bless, the dogs can't fetch <------- Someone sending him bud via fed ex, dogs cant smell it
Got the clear shot from the rear block <----- Hes got the perfect shot lined up
to bust till every nigga here drop, men I fear not <---- shootin up everybody
Hold your nose and blow out till your ears pop <--- makes your head explode
Since your crew soft you to shift now you claim that you get's lot <------ that, whatever its means is why hes shooting
With, this underground cannabis <--- I think him shooting everyone in the last bars is metaphorical for rapping, and hes bomb like some cannabis
I'm dangerous like John the bomb analyst <------- Dont know who that is, but bomb detection is dangerous
Then proceeds like keys <-----?
My degrees freeze consecutively like EPMD LP's <---- EPMD albums are cold
Lick off a shot and hit your fam by mistake <----- Shoot at you but hit your family by mistake
So I erase the whole front row at the wake <---- also shooting up the funeral
I planned my escape in case jake or a snake bust it <--------- Pre meditated to escape the cops and snitches
I'm the one pushing the hearse in the first place <------ hes driving the hearse himself
Confidence for you shaky ass folks <---- hes got confidence
Pump for Rockafella for the day he got smoked <---- Shooting in the air as tribute
choke, off this anecdote got you open <------- you cant outrap him
Get roast, by my lyrics Billy Dee .45 Colt <---- you will get ate up, and hes smooth like billy dee williams (from the old school colt 45 alcohol commercials)
And I'm out for nine nickel (INS the rebels)
West, list this, this, this...

His part wasn't bad, but Pac's passion and energy just blew his part out of the water. Kurupt takes the cake on this one though.

yeah Pac's energy is great on the track, I guess he had to step his game up after hearing Meth, Red & Kurupt on the same track, since he didn't record his part with them.
Still, I think that song should have come out in its original format. Kurupt, Deck, Rage, Meth & Red on the same track, on Dogg Food, that would have been legendary.
-
ok here goes a breakdown.. you have to be old school intelligent to decipher what Redman is saying.. but it makes sense..
We need more posters like this guy^^
And it was a good question from infinite

totally agree...he had that cold slow laid back flow that he abandoned later on as well
-
yeah that "big pimpin" type of verse. well he's last because he's matched against three of the top mc's of that time, that and his vocals were subdued compared to the rest, almost as if he added himself at the last minute without proper mixing. you can't really hear what he says. but yeah his verse is dope, it fits the mood of the instrumental.

As dope as Daz was back then, he often sounded like he was reading the lyrics off a page and sounding a bit '1st take' or rushed.
