Today, one of the most successful songs in hip-hop history almost never was. The song in reference is called “Gangsta’s Paradise” and if it weren’t for the persistence of the original song owner, L.V, the world would have never experienced such a smash single. The song could have been performed with Prodeje from South Central Cartel, who L.V. first reached out to for the rap parts, however, schedules got in the way. Then, L.V. had to literally follow Coolio around for weeks to get him to do the song.
Dubcnn got the opportunity to sit down with L.V. Mr. Large Variety, one of the original members of the infamous South Central Cartel, to reflect back on “Gangsta’s Paradise”—the paradigm shift that has since left its mark on hip-hop forever. In this Dubcnn exclusive, L.V. shares with us his own personal feelings on his partner, Coolio’s recent and highly-publicized troubles with the law as he gets transparent and opens up about his near-death experience many years ago, to his current rebirth back into music through LRT Music Group.

Very nice to see an interview with L.V.! Having said that, i think it's a shame such a large part of the conversation had to be about cocaine use :-\ Who wants to hear about that?

With all due respect to the interviewer y'all owe L.V. another interview! You guys spoke more about another artist's personal life than about L.V.'s music. This is just sad. I felt so bad for him. Come on! Remember his second album, had a big single, at least here in South AFrica. "How long has it been, since you been loved the right way? By the right man? And that right man is me!" It is just a little weird that you didn't remind us and re-educate us on other stuff. E.g. How did he get into music. How was working with SCC. Why no collabo's with other artists or are there any? HIS personal life. Is he married? What other business ventures he does. Who he has worked with recently. Sorry to L.V.
Y'all still about the only forum I read though!
Peace!

Honestly, Chad and I just came into the interview with L.V. at the spur of the moment, during all the media hype of Coolio's arrest. L.V. is most known for his song with Coolio, so we asked him some questions about Coolio, the song, etc. As far as his recent ventures, he has his new album coming out with a new label - so we will be covering that when there is more info. We have several DOPE interviews coming here shortly so stay tuned.

Thanks Jonathan. Appreciate the response!
