Glenn Beck calls evolution 'ridiculous,' says he's never seen a half-human, half-monkey

Glenn Beck says he's never seen a half-man, half-monkey.
Glenn Beck thinks the theory of evolution is a bunch of monkey business.
The wildly popular Fox News host Wednesday called the idea that humans evolved from primates "ridiculous."
While the deeply religious Beck denouncing evolution isn't a shock, his defense was a head-scratcher: "I haven't seen a half-monkey, half-person yet. Did evolution just stop?"
Scientists have shown humans and chimpanzees share roughly 96% of the same DNA. Chimps are classified as apes, not monkeys.
Beck, however, is only interested in what God has to say on the matter.
"I don't know how God creates. I don't know how we got here," Beck said. "If I get to the other side and God's like, 'You know what, you were a monkey once,' I'll be shocked, but I'll be like, 'Whatever.'"
The most recent polls on the debate show Beck is certainly not alone in his dismissal of evolution. More than 40% told a 2006 Pew survey that humans have only existed in our present form and of the 51% who did accept evolution, 21% said it was guided by a "supreme being."
CBS News' 2005 poll found more than 50% rejected evolution.
Beck equated the argument to global warming, which he says scientists, along with evolution, "force it down your throat."
"When anybody has to force it, that's a problem. You didn't have to force that the world is round. Truth is truth. You don't have to force the truth."

7 million years ago our ancestors were pretty much monkeys. The first human-like foot prints were left 3. fuckin 6 MILLION years ago. Ain't hard to imagine that from then to now the ape just got a little too intelligent. 8)

FIrst of all, learn up on evolution before you say anything about it. This is a typical problem with you. You try and debate topics that you know little about. Sure, you know what evolution means, but do you actually know any of the reasoning behind it or about any of the evidence? Have you studied any of the fossils they've uncovered? Learned about any of the species they've found? Looked at the timeline?

Most religious people accept Micro-Evolution, because it's impossible to dispute it. IT'S A FACT. For those who don't know: Micro-evolution is the alteration of a specific trait due to natural response. Take a look at Darwin's observation of the changes in finches. Isolated in the Galapagos Island, Darwin discovered finches that had much longer beaks than those found off the island. His assumption was that evolution was changing the species. However, these finches remained finches. Princeton professor Peter Grant completed an 18 year study of the finches on this island. He concluded that during drought years, the finches with shorter beaks died off because with a limited supply of seeds, only those that could reach the grubs living under tree bark could survive. With limited resources on a small island, these finches could not migrate to find food. We clearly observe natural selection, but not macro-evolution. However, it is not a permanent change. The finch offspring with shorter beaks prospered during seasons of plenty. Natural adaptation is the function of micro-evolution. There are three plainly observable principles to micro-evolution. 1. A trait will alter because of a stimulus. 2. The trait will return to the norm if left to nature or returned to its original conditions. 3. No new information is added to the DNA. This gives you a pretty clear idea of how this works and you can't dispute any of this. It's a proven fact. It's much harder to prove Macro-Evolution, even though the case for it is very strong.

You wanna talk about decision making, animals whether they are insects, lizards or mammals contemplate fighting over territory and mates and decide whether the fight is worth acquiring those assets and possibly becoming injured or dying. Yes, they weight their costs and benefits just like you and me. All you gotta do is watch Discovery Channel to see that.

Don't forget the thesis that that our beahviour/decisions are also predeterminated. Neurological research has found out that all our decisions are made before we actually think about them, that decisions are final before they reach our consciousness.
Categories like morality are only illusions to explain human behaviour, which 'seems' different than that of animals. The only thing that differentiates us from animals is our brain capacity/structure, which seem to give us more possibilities for action and consciousness, but our behviour is still similar to that of all animals.

Yeah I think that's the heavily edited version. First of all it's obvious that DNA has dealt him some low cards; low IQ, a gullible mind and an unpopular color. Then the environment leaves him fatherless with mom and grandma left to raise him. Grandma being overly protective and very religious while mom is very unstable, very promiscuous and most likely a drinker who can't hold down a job longer than two months at a time. His mother's actions traumatize him and with no father around, he's always a little unsure of himself. He's got few male friends and he finds himself preferring the company of an aging, but overly protective grandmother who's been brainwashed by religion and things that usually don't make sense in the real world. She's had a long habit of sheltering him from the outside world, she loves to quote The Bible and feels it's her duty to tell him how all the bad people go to hell when they die. Little does she know how much fear she's instilled in that poor boy. This old lady has done nothing but weaken him and destroy him in ways his simple mind sadly can't comprehend. It is my sincere belief that no other person (including his mother) has contributed more to his fears and insecurities than that woman. Yet to him, she's a saint and what's worse, she makes sense to him. DNA has made sure of that.

this is a common misconception that people have, evolution is an information gaining process whilst mutation is an information losing process, mutations happen when something goes wrong for eg down syndrome.
mutations can look like evidence for evolution like when you mentioned viruses mutating, but when viruses actually do this they lose information that can make them vulnerable to medicine for eg metaphorically speaking its like a person wearing lots of metal during a thunderstorm becomes vulnerable to being struck by lightning but when that person takes all of his metal off (losses the information) they havent become stronger (evolved) but just have lost the thing that makes him vulnerable to getting killed

People want to take the idea of "men evolved from primates over the course of billions of years" as the single reason why they won't acknowledge evolution, but they will tell you that the world was created in its present form in a week and that Noah made a boat big enough to hold and maintain every living creature on earth.

They couldn't live on their failing ship for the rest of their lives so when they found earth they genetically altered their bodies to some thing which resembles primates but with higher intelligence etc.
But because God (The device they used to create their human forms) didn't work properly their were some flaws in us, it couldn't compensate for the inevitable incest of 'humans' which weakened the species. A lot of the knowledge of the species we evolved from was lost because 2 people couldn't possibly hold all the information about them.
