I'm loving the mixing on Lady Heroin, Hollywood & Drug Related. Worth getting the CD for alone 8)

What I'm Lookin For is still an OK track but not a patch on the OG.

The rest of em  :-\

the new track aren't that bad at all, they actually retain that signature 90's sound that Sneed has perfected/originated. dope shit! 8)

it`s a disapointing album. picture what it could've been....if they kept it original. take the 12 songs which leaked in snippet form and add 4-6 new songs as bonus and voila the perfect album. but no they give us 4 tracks out of the vault with one being a remix (goin' hollywood) and one being on 400 million compilations before (u better recognise) and put 11 new tracks on it which i like ONE of (surivior). they even destroyed the prevoius available newer track What I'm Looking For , which was a beautiful example of sam skills. the version on this release is garbage.

so if you ask me what i think about the release my answer is scrap it, put the 3 death row tracks on an ultimate collection vol. 2 thing and i am happy. the product that is available by the end of the month won't get my support because its bullshit. i will buy the 3 original tracks on iTunes (to show a little support to WA but not that lying artist named sam sneed) and will buy the cd in a couple of months for $ 3,- (maximum) at ebay.

Here's an email from Sam Sneed sent to somebody at tupacnation.net...

SO SORRY ABOUT THAT BUT WHAT THEY ALL HAVE TO OVERSTAND IS 1. AT FIRST I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT MY FANS JUST WANTED TO HEAR ANYTHING THAT I WAS DOING UNTIL I FOUND OUT LATE IN THE GAME. YEAH I HEARD SOME SAYING THEY WANTED TO HEAR THE OLD ALBUM BUT I ALSO HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE WANTED TO HEAR WHAT I WAS DOING NOW. 2. SOME OF THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL FROM 96 WAS MISSING, THE SONG WITH SNOOP WAS ONE OF THEM. OTHER PARTS ON SOME OF THE OTHER SONGS WERE ALSO MISSING AND TO DUPLICATE ALL THAT WOULD HAVE DEMANDED TIME THAT I DIDNT HAVE BECAUSE I HAD TO TURN IN THE ALBUM QUICK, A MONTH FROM THE TIME THE BUDGET WAS CUT. THATS MY FAULT BECAUSE I COULD HAVE JUST GIVIN YOU ALL THE ORIGINAL UNCOMPLETED MATERIAL AS IS MIXED AND MASTERED 3. I WILL ALSO TAKE FULL BLAME FOR ALSO WANTING WHAT IM DOING NOW TO BE HEARD. 4. NOW IF YOU ALL STILL WANNA HEAR THE REST OF THAT ALBUM PUT TOGETHER PROPERLY, SEND A REQUEST TO WIDE AWAKE ENT. WHO SHOWED ME NOTHING BUT LOVE AND THEN I WILL DO MY BEST TO DUPLICATE THE REST OF THAT ALBUM THEN EVERYBODY WILL BE HAPPY AND WE ALL CAN GO PARTY. LOVE YOU ALL ONE LOVE MY SCHOLARS!

I talked to him on facebook but he didn't say all of that.

Just skimmed through it. I prefer the lady Heroin that we have all had for ages compared to this one. Guess i'm just used to that one. Other than that Drug Related is awesome as well as Hollywood even though that has been altered slightly.

Definitely Drug related, hollywood isn't bad but Drug Related is sick.

I hate how wideawake RUINS music also, listen to u better recognize on any cd it was released on, lp, promo, single,

and they are all light years better than this lol

same with danny boy come when i call remix

why on earth cant we get Sam Sneed to release his actual music.

I love how he cons out and says, oh you gotta ask wideawake.

LOL FUCKING WIDEAWAKE IS A JOKE WHO WONT EVEN LET US TYPE ON THE FORUM.  THEY CENSOR NAMES (try typing in hyland or his obsession with Dante)

SAM WE CANT SPEAK TO WIDEAWAKE , and besides the wav files Sam has will only get DEGRADED when wideawake pays people to ruin what little music they have so it can be pressed up for retail.

HOW ON EARTH CANT HE SEE WE DONT NEED TO ASK THEM FOR SHIT< HE HAS THE MUSIC< even the snippet of drug related sounds better than the lp version.

After some deliberation, I decided to buy this album to support Sam Sneed.  Not very excited about the tracklist though.  While I wouldn't mind hearing the new Sam Sneed material, it was a poor choice to mix it with the original tracks and then label that as "Street Scholars."  There are quite a few people who have heard the original snippets and know that this album isn't really "Street Scholars."  I don't think Wideawake did Sneed any favors either, by encouraging him to release the album this way.  They should have advised him to release the album as close to how it was originally intended as possible, and if he still wasn't convinced they should have done everything in their power to convince him.  The problem, I think, is that Wideawake doesn't understand enough about the music to even know themselves that that was the way to go.  Perhaps they were excited about the prospect of an artist releasing new material on their label.  While ordinarily that probably would be a good thing, I think they went about releasing it in the worst way possible.  I just hope the LBC Crew album doesn't turn into a fiasco as well.

Yeah.  And when you think about it, they haven't released single project in it's original form, unless you want to count "The Chronic: Re-Lit,", but I count that more as a catalog, re-release than a new project.  Instead of releasing "Say Hi to the Bad Guy" they released "Hood Star."  They changed the title and content to Danny Boy's album.  Their Kurupt album was basically just "Against the Grain" with one new track on it.  So far, the Sam Sneed is the only album where they even kept the original name.  It looks like the LBC Crew album is going to come out in it's original form, but if it does that will be the first one.  They're also not using the original artwork for these projects, which is mind bogglingly dumb.  They paid for all that stuff when they bought Death Row.  But it's just sitting somewhere unused.

Not to defend WideAwake (the Sneed release was awful), but the people that took over don't have any idea what project would be in its original form. I remember a couple interviews where they have all this material but a lot of it isn't labeled or mislabeled. I'm sure the latter projects (Crooked I, Eastwood, Petey Pablo) could have had "original form" but keep in mind there was never an official tracklist for "Say Hi To Tha Bad Guy", "Same Eyez On Me", etc.

I agree with you.  The original Death Row were obviously horrible at record keeping.  That's why Wideawake should hire someone who was employed with Death Row at the time this was all being recorded.  I know John Payne was there very early on, at the original Death Row.  But it's my understanding that he left long before many of the artists that were signed to the label at various points, even recorded anything.  I mean, there are people on this message board that have a clearer understanding of what tracks were meant for what project.  I can't believe they can't find someone who can at least identify the tracks by listening to them, if nothing else.  Also, I know in some cases such as Crooked I's "Say Hi to the Bad Guy" album, there was finished album artwork that could have been used, had they decided to release "Say Hi to the Bad Guy" rather than "Hoodstar."  I can't fault them for hiring people to make artwork for the projects that never had original work done.  But I don't see the point in them wasting the finished album art.

I mean, there are people on this message board that have a clearer understanding of what tracks were meant for what project.  I can't believe they can't find someone who can at least identify the tracks by listening to them, if nothing else.

They probably don't want to have to travel all the way to Europe just to find someone

^isn't it ironic that wideawake wanted to keep all the music original?

Enormous had a tracklisting though...I can confirm this.

It was finalized, most of the stuff from it was on those FTP bootlegs, but not all. It was finished in '04.

Wasn't there a track with Eastwood, R. Kelly, and Lil' Jon that was supposed to be on it?

Dammit... I thought ya'll were just hating... but the new tracks really are wack (except "Survivor"), the reason we were all waiting on Sam Sneed was because we were expecting for him to come with hott shit like he was doing in the 90's and like the shit that leaked back in the days, stuff like "Lady Heroine" and "Blueberries" with Snoop and so on....

...but dude was spitting bullshit ass club and auto-tune South sounding bullshit!

btw, it's not fair to blame WideAwake because WideAwake is doing their best to get out all the unreleased Death Row affiliated projects from our favorite artists we grew up being fans of.

At least we got 3 tracks from the vault. That's the way I'm looking at it. I mean, Death Row could be nonexistent at this point in time but it's not. Unreleased material is slowly coming out and will continue to do so. We will hear the rest of Sam Sneed's tracks from the vault, I'm sure of it. Everybody needs to make sure they contact WIDEawake about releasing the rest of it, that's what Sam said to do.

Damn, I'm disappointed.. These new tracks are just straight wack - "Survivor" is the only one I really like. And why they put out the video version of "Lady Heroin" on the album instead of the explicit one ???

I don't know why either :-\

The old tracks are dope like I thought they would be and the new tracks dissapoint kind of how alot of former Death Row artists catalogue goes

Word.. that's why I don't agree with people dissing WideAwake.  It's WideAwake or nothing is what these people don't realize.  We waited for years with nothing, so atleast now we are getting something

Survivor is the best track there, for sure. I like few more as well.
