He was right about one thing. Vibe's contest was a joke. No Rakim? Really? The man who invented the style of rhyming that everyone uses?

But Prod had some shitty rappers on his list too. This is a perfect example of why top anythings are stupid.

I disagree with Crooked's worst being better than Prodigy's career. You gotta be kidding with that! Prodigy has had some classic music. That being said, I don't see how he can be offended at anyone mentioning Crooked I as a talented rapper. It's a weird choice of an artist to be mad at because musically, lyrically he's holding it down. Outside of not having an album out or even any real material out in retail, Crook is a monster. His business game is kind of laughable but we should seperate the two because there are a lot of great people when it comes to making money who are shit as MC's and we should seperate the two.

I guess prodigy aint looking at it from a lyrical point of veiw, more so what a rapper has achived and crooked i has impressed everyone but achived little, as far as leaving a mark in history/the rap game/releaseing any albums..
I think his list is actually pretty good, overal. of course having people like lil wayne and mase on there i fail to understand but most the people on his list deserve to be.

There is Big Pun, Rakim, Mc Lyte, Nas...that aint so bad "old school" list, just take off Weezies and Jeezies.

Although we all know Crooked I has more lyrical skill than just about anyone I have ever heard, I think Prodigys point has merit.

How can Crooked I be ranked 'Best Rapper alive' When he hasn't even dropped a record?

Prodigy says his list of top 40 rappers, are folks who have had 10 or more hits not just a few. Crooked I hasn't had any really apart from street singles (E.G. 'Boom Boom Clap') and 'Still tha row' was never a hit.

Probably why Crooked I should start dropping albums/hits, then he can be added to that list like his talent suggests.

Only thing Prodigy left out that he probably should've added was Ice Cube, although N.W.A did get mention. Surprised he didn't put Eminem in there either (Since he cool with 50 and all). Perhaps Dogg Pound too :p

Prodigy's list was worse than the Vibe contest

Now that's simply not true. Most of the rappers on P's list I could see. Vibe's contest was a joke. Half the rappers on it were one hit wonders. Lets see they had Diddy, Lil Kim, Lil Mama, Lil Wayne, Lil Boosie, Webbie, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Young Dro, Shawty Lo, Paul Wall, Soulja Boy, Flo Rida, Fat Joe, Rich Boy, Bow Wow. Rappers who shouldn't be anywhere near a list of the best rappers.

The fact that the list is "in no order" therefore putting them all on the same level, makes it worse that the shit MCs are next to the good ones.

Prodigy does have a point about the whole thing though, but then again he's also totally wrong and can't talk about anyone not being up to standard. He's wrong with his choices, missed out plenty of much better MCs (where's Big L, ATCQ, Mos Def, Talib, Paris, the west coast in general?) and it isn't just hip-hop that's standards are falling/fell, there's so many niches that people should be turning away from mainstream hip-hop press.

Don't know what the hate for Crook comes from though, he has talent, unlike the others P used as examples. Crooked doesn't need a hit though, the days when a hit song mattered (critically) are over. He needs a solid album.

P's obviously biased when he's moaning about what Vibe said about Game's album being better than two of Fifty's.

Like it or not Mobb Deep is living legends them niggaz been around since pacs pre death row days. And them niggaz is still relevant in 2009 how many artist can say that? They got a list of music that shits on most artist besides niggaz like jayz,dmx,50,etc. Just listen to HNIC 2 that shit brings you back to how hip hop use to be. And with that being said he has the right to say whatever he wants about hip hop that nigga been in it through like 4 or 5 different eras of the shit. And the shit about any of games albums being better than 50s is just naive wannabe niggaz listening to hip hop. He shouldn't have even responded to that because that shows how far gone niggaz is with hip hop. But I guess because vibe is a major magazine and it spreads things to a large number of people he had to let it be known. No hate on crooked I but this all he did was question his skills and he wants a fade??? Lol all he gots to do is show him through a couple of lyrical assaults. But crooked sees how good of an artist p is and took his opinion to heart  I guess because of his level of respect he has or had for p. Why don't he worry about them niggaz who just shot at him? Catch that fade first

I was just listening to Crooked's HHW #33 that he mentioned in his letter to P and came to the conclusion that he doesn't need to drop a diss track to P to prove himself lyrically. Crooked merked that Mobb Deep beat something serious. In the end Crooked > Prodigy over the "Get Away" beat. That should be enough proof.

I feel you but crooked feels differently based on that fact he wants to fight the nigga when just 2 weeks ago niggaz was blamin at him and he aint say shit about catchin a fade with them.

True, but hardly a fair comparison. How you gonna fade with someone shooting at you? Totally different scenario.

Im talking afterwards he aint throw no shots they way telling them to man up and catch a fade.  im just saying that because after what he went through catching a fade with a nigga who doesn't like his MUSIC should be the last thing on his mind when he got niggaz tryin to clap him. That's why I say he has to really respect P as a rapper to even take time to get into this when just 2 weeks ago somebody tried to take his life forreal forreal.

He wants to beat Prodigy's ass not kill him. If someone shot at you, you would want to take the nigga out for real not catch a fade. Which is probably why he hasn't said shit about the incident. If you were wanting to murk someone would you be talking about it? no you'd keep it on the down low so the shit didn't get back to you. Going at Prodigy is hip hop beef, going at whoever shot at him is real beef.

I gotcha. But look at it like this. Perhaps Crooked has an idea who tried to shoot him, by now? If so, then I'm sure he ain't gonna air that shit out publicly. Knowing his history through his music as a "street nigga" he ain't about to incriminate himself. If anything, he'll adhere to the code of the streets and handle it on his own terms like street niggas do.

Besides, if you caught the latest SlaughterHouse track that leaked last week, you'd know he made references to the incident throughout the song. Most notably at the end when he says "Hey, with friends like mine, you don't need enemies, blaaow, you do the math."

As for responding to P, that's his prerogative. Whether it warranted a response or not ain't for us to determine. Do you think Spider Loc would've responded to something like that? My $ says he would've.

True dat. Im not saying he got to say im gonna kill you niggaz or anything like that. I would clown them on the low about how them niggaz couldnt shoot and laugh it off but know im gonna get with them  at a later date. It only happened a few weeks ago so ill give him time. Also he kind of made it a big hoopla by having it a mystery about what happened for like a week. But Crooked is cool with me im just saying why get all bout it with a nigga in jail when you got these niggaz right here? I know and you know if they were to fight somebody gettin stabbed or shot cause this aint the 70's were it was just hands and thats it. But i give it to you,you talk like a real dude not like some of these other clowns.

O yea and the spi thing i highly doubt he would take it to the streets just caused somebody said he couldnt rap. He would go at him and as long as lines arent crossed thats where it would stay. Crooked off muscle want to fight p lol

In all honesty, I didn't take that letter too seriously. I just don't see it going down like that. It ain't nothing worth Crooked losing sleep over.

My guess is, Crooked did it more for clowning purposes than anything else. Read the letter and the part where he says Since you have time on your hands.... That's kinda funny if you think about it. Then of course P.S. Do some push ups.

Also, another way to look at this from a clowning perspective is the fact that Prodigy wrote a letter which mentions Crooked I in a negative tone. So in return, Crooked I writes a letter back, instead of going into the booth to diss him over a track. It's like he's playing P's game. Like Joe Budden said about P in a diss track "Blood On The Wall" he called P a "gangsta blogger". We already know if P were to diss Crooked on wax, that Crooked would respond back on wax. Therefore it's funny to me seeing Crooked play P's "gangster blogger" game with him.

Like I said, I don't think it's really that serious. Funny? Yes.

This thread is the proof that a lot of people on dubcc overate Crooked I. I like him as a freestyle rapper, but he NEVER made a song that I consider classic. He got some nice songs here and there, but most of the time they're using other people beats. The only thing I really like about him is how he is lyrical in his freestyles (well, when he freestyle and don't use a recycled verse).

I have afact for you: There's no Crooked I album on a top 1000 rap albums of all time.

C'mon guys. You can't compare Mobb Deep and Crooked I.

No, but 1000 albums is a lot for a greatest of all time list. Even mediocre artists make it, like Mobb Deep.

C'mon guys. You can't compare Mobb Deep and Crooked I.

Ok, ok I,m gonna say it like this:

Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Pt. II

Call them mediocre artists if you want, but this joint right here is a hip hop classic

P was dissing Crooked by saying he shouldn't be on a list of best LYRICISTS right? Not rappers with an album, not rappers with a hit song. That said, lyrically right now, Crooked shits on P. I don't think even P in his prime can touch Crooked right now. Shook Ones pt 2 is a classic no doubt, but its not exactly the most amazing lyrics.

exactly were talkin lyrically, and thats what prodigy was speakin on
not albums, obviously crooked wont win that fight
but lyrically, p, havoc, joe budden, saigon, shit that entire coast for the most part cant fuck wit crooked no matter how many albums they release or have released

P is a good rapper but honestly what makes Mobb Deep is the beats IMO.
