but i am a mv fan.. its nutting like the series but its not supposed to be, also mann said your not supposed to fully know whats going on as its just a peek at the lives of 2 vice cops there is no real start or finish just a middle the action is relistic and the camera work using a digital camera was great specialy the last scene with the crockets girl leaving on the boat...
but
thief
collateral
miami vice
heat
ali
all good
also love manhunter
-
I dunno. Maybe I need to see MV again because I saw it with 3 other people in the theater, and when we finished watching it, all four of us said "What the fuck?"
But I'll agree with you on the other movies you listed. All great movies, especially Heat and Collateral.

Man that one sucks if you like the show do not watch that movie if you like mann do not watch that movie i love miami vice the show and this shit was awful the casting was awful damn. But Heat is like my favorite gangster movie i only watch when i feel good about myself sort of like my triumph movie ive been feeling pretty shitty about myself lately so no heat ive been unemployed since july so you know but i love this fuckin movie.
-
its a classic! 8)
BUT, watch the movie again & view carefully; Al & De Niro are NEVER in the same shot.
there is not one scene where they are face to face & both faces are in the same picture; probably just stand-in's.
crazy shit, huge ego's lol.

I think Mann shot it like that just to mess with people. Everyone wanted to see a movie with those two in it and they finally go tit....just not exactly the way they wanted it lol. Anyways, people got their wish with Righteous Kill except that movie was balls.

LIked this movie but.... i dont know if its my top 10.
Are we talking top ten everything included ( drama, comedy, action )
or top 10 action... if top 10 action alone then Yes.

Yeah, amazing cinematography. Mann just has an amazing catalog period. Except for that Miami Vice. That was awful.

best cinematography i have ever seen was in vice better than heat the scenes where shot more personal more close up than heat wouldent you say so by using the digital style he personaly used the camera by runing behind or wtih the actors specialy the last fight with the white supresmasists. i surpose it what your looking for in a film i wanted it to be really relistic and it was so i was happy..

yeah, "boring parts" are what tie the whole movie together; i love boring (talky) parts.
-
"Heat" is a classic movie, one of my favourite of all times. "Righteous Kill" was unbelievable garbage, they never should have made it. I remember readin' about a new movie with Pacino And De Niro and i was excited as fuck. When it first leaked everybody trashed it and i still wanted to see it and i thought maybe it's better than everybody said, but it ain't. I never wanna see that shit again.
-
This is my favourite movie of all of time, its a timeless classic, got a dope cast, and its just brilliant, there isnt one single flaw in the movie

thats your opinion... its shot very generically but the story and acting is great..and true to the time.. some on who watches films for action and stuff cant have a opinion that carry s weight about heat... is my point. Michael Mann started making heat pre 80s and its flawless and realistic but iv been arouns and seen a lot of cinema.. i dont waist my time with epic movie and them shitty horror's that come out everyday...

i love the meets mccually has with nate under the flyovers very relistic and to the point no fluff shit talking.. my fave line is when the deal goes wrong at the old drive in cinema "theres a fuckin dead man on the end of this line"
-
'Heat' is fucking classic! Definitely one of the greatest films of all time. Michael Mann's crowning achievement if you ask me, the whole landscape of the film is just beautiful. I honestly didn't think 'Miami Vice' was all that bad. Story wise, it didn't have alot going for it, but parts of it was quality Michael Mann work. BTW, Natalie Portman was in 'Heat', and I love me some Natalie Portman.

As with a number of advanced concepts in science and technology, the historical roots of the steam engine can be traced to the Greeks, who—just as they did with ideas such as the atom or the Sun-centered model of the universe—thought about it, but failed to develop it. The great inventor Hero of Alexandria (c. 65-125) actually created several steam-powered devices, but he perceived these as mere novelties, hardly worthy of scientific attention. Though Europeans adopted water power, as, for instance, in waterwheels, during the late ancient and medieval periods, further progress in steam power did not occur for some 1,500 years
