Title: Bernard Hopkins vs. Jermaine Taylor
Post by: Sikotic™ on July 17, 2005, 12:03:35 AM
Anyone see it? I thought Bernard had it especially nearing the end of the bout. I guess the boxing commission needs to create a new star since Hopkins probably only has a max of 5 more fights left in him.

I wanna see Hopkins beat his ass down in the rematch. That would be so dope for him. A 40 year old dude kicking a guy's ass half his age lol.

Hopkins was lazy in the first & middle parts of the fight.

U can not just start bangin away at the end and expect to win the fight.

I thought the champ has the advantage and not the challenger. When in doubt, the champ retains the belt. The shit is crooked as fuck anyways.

the champ doesn't get and advantage, and taylor held a title already..we'll see wat goes down in the rematch..this one coulda gone either way, but taylor controlled the tempo more, hopkins is more of a knockout boxer and couldnt do what he wanted. the judges had to make a choice, cuz a draw woulda pissed off both sides. i like the comment about that promoter, that guy is a piece of shit

I didn't realize he was that old. Anyway you want to see an old man beat up young guys just watch the Foreman fights from 10 years ago. I don't think I ever cheered more in a fight than the Foreman/Moorer fight when Moorer had George down by points and everyone was thinking George was done until BOOM, he KOs the fucker with a bomb and a half. If Foreman's career ended with that loss by decision to Jimmy Young he would have been known as a great fighter, just short of a legend. But no one will ever be able to take away his comeback. To my knowledge no boxer in history was as good as Foreman at that age. Even Louis was 37 when he started getting dumped. Ali was 38 when he got absolutely destroyed by Holmes. Foreman was 45 when he went toe to toe with 27 year old Moorer and KOed him,and he KOed a few others in his 40s.

That will always go down as one of my favorite fights of all time. Hopkin's chances of doing that are greater since the guy is in much better shape and younger than Foreman was.

Except he doesn't have two bazookas for arms, but I agree with you. If there's a rematch Hopkins can take this guy. Now in 5 years I don't know how good Bernard will be.

His days are definitely numbered. The rematch will probably be his last big fight. He should just win the rematch and retire on top. I ave a feeling only Foreman would be able to accomplish what he did at 45.
