I never really checked for dude back then but I always give every artist a chance no matter what anyone says and I just finished bumping all his mixtapes he dropped lately and the dude can spit.not only can he spit but his subject matter is diverse and he talks about shit that matters.just check out the bailout, incredible mixtape.and all the mixtapes are all original songs. This is what southern music should sound like.don't sleep!
-
Yeah Stat is doing the damn thing. Have you checked out Smokin Mirrors yet?
-
i mean it is what it is, thats waz up tho
you feelin his newer style, IMO his older style is what it is
-
Well I checked back for some of his older stuff and its ok.by my side off the re up is a great track but he's matured a lot as an emcee. I haven't checked out smoke and mirrors yet how is it?I know ill be copping the great depression when it drops.dre and em fucked up not releasing his album.when statlanta was supposed to drop it would have gone platinum just off the strength of the label
-
-his older traxx are much better IMO, i mean them traxx he actually seemed like he was interested in the rap game
-str8 up, i doubt he would have gon plat, not even gold cuz back then he was more a street rapper and he was spittin.
-now hes more of a commercial rapper IMO
-and them traxx he recorded wit mel-man, dre, em etc...might be some of the dopest traxx outta that camp (tha unreleased ones im talkin bout, i mean the released ones are mad dope)

If you like his last 4 mixtapes you will dig Smokin Mirrors. Just basically a continuation of those but more personal.
-
I don't know how you can say he's More commercial the bailout wasn't commercial at all.I found the stuff he released while signed was mainstream gangsta bravado and club shit
-
i dont know its jus i was listenin to stat when he was a nobody (when he first started years ago) and he was fresh and it was dope, and he wasnt westcoast so it was new
but it jus seems like hes tryin too hard to fit in, tryin all these new types of songs and he toned it down.
but its all good, im feelin his older style/muzik and your feelin his newer style
-
everything he has put out recently has been just straight HEAT & dope. 8)
lovin this guys music; he won me as a fan back in like '03 when he dropped "Like Dat". ;D 8)
-
well see like dat was for the clubs/commercial IMO
but i mean "high beams" is mad dope but its not commercial
but yeah like dat isnt horrible but its aite
damn he messed up tho, shootin a video for it etc...

Smokin' Mirrors was disappointing.
I've enjoyed all of his street tapes until that release. With that release I was convinced he needed to focus more on song quality over quantity. While I think it's tight he's got a crew that he turns to for beats, I hope their game is picked up. Since it was supposed to be bought I thought the quality should've been superior then what released for free. Instead it was on par.
Overall, dude is a good artist. Hopefully, his in-store release has better production quality.
Kind of reminds me of Banks - someone that can spit but can't craft a song.
-
Yeah gotta say I liked his stuff more and more after he was dropped... one of the last tracks he put out on the Math website had him soundin like he was a high pitched Wayne-a-like! Havent heard this new mixtape but in general he does some good music... I also want to hear more from Bobby Creekwater and Cashis!
-
Bobby Creekwater just dropped the BC Era Duece ep. It's dope.

Bobby can spit! 8)
him & Ca$his are two good, quality rappers, imo. 8)
-
Cashis has grown on me a bit but he's not quite there for me.he still has room to grow but he definitely can bring it.
-

no doubt, you checked The County Hound EP?
a lot of promising sounds off of that. 8)
-
I'm not feeling Cashis.
-
Yeah I bought it the day it dropped.lac motion and ms Jenkins are crazy.when I heard the re up I didn't like cashis at all then my boy played me this track called serenade my life and it was a great track so I gave him another chance.he has talent but he's still not quite there for me yet

respectable opinon, i even agree he isnt the full package yet; but he has the talent to be real good.
Ms. Jenkins was some REAL dope shit! 8)
-
Yeah after re up I wasn't really feeling him but that's serenade my life joint took me off guard you should check that put action
-
ive heard a few songs by him and im not impressed
he got outshined by EVERYONE on Coast to Coast (fatal, game, yukmouth, new child, eric sermon)
-
I've only heard a few of Stat's songs and I wasn't impressed. Decent considering he's from the south where everyone else is doing the pop songs with no lyrical content. But if he were a west coast or east coast rapper he would just be average.
-
yeah my favorite song is this one
Stat kills it
actually they all do
http://www.youtube.com/v/2wfpy2AJ4ig&hl=en&fs=1
-
He got some real dope songs, "Came Up" with Obie Trice and 50 is one of my favourites from him. Lyrics are good and the beat :o

Word, that track is fiya. 50 killed the hook, but I wasn't really feeling Stat that much.
Tracks/Featurings from Stat Quo I dig;
Bishop Lamont - On Top Now (Ft. Stat Quo & Dr. Dre)
Bishop Lamont - Gorilla Pimpin 5008 (Ft. Warren G, Busta Rhymes, Stat Quo & Ryan C Fresh)
Stat Quo - The Future Of Shady Aftermath (Remix) (Ft. Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Eve & Busta Rhymes)
Stat Quo - South Coast
Stat Quo - Gutta Shit
Stat Quo - Like Dat
Stat Quo - Get Low
Stat Quo - G.R.I.T.S. (Remix) (Ft. Little Brother)
Stat Quo - Washed Away (Ft. Tiffany Villarreal)
-
Stat Quo - The Future Of Shady Aftermath (Remix) (Ft. Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Eve & Busta Rhymes)
That song it's a blend. Can somebody hook up all the Stat Quo songs that was produced by Dr. Dre. All those "The Future" are fuckin dope, lost them sometime ago.
-
Yeah, I know.
I just copied it from my itunes, he also has his own version of the track.
I'll see what I got in a couple of hours.
-
yeah he has his own version and theres different versions of his own, but the best is the 8 minute version and he goes off wit dre-talxin here n there
but thats what im sayin this is when stat had the energy and was doin it for the muzik IMO
this beat is fire
-
and stat sound mad as mutha that he got dropped/left etc...
but he directin it in a different way, which is understanable
