Obie Trice
Cheers
Shady/Interscope Records
May 2003
The video for his first single, "Rap Name" has just been shot.
Production on the album will prolly be handled by Eminem, the Bass Brothers, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Rockwilder and Kuniva aka Denaun.
-
I'm undecided if i like him or not.
-
i liked him when i first heard him - but he got really boring its amazing how fast her became played out for me
this is one album ill be avoiding
-
Obie is coo, and its nice to see a name up here other then snoop dre and eminem
-
He's aiight...
-
i hope this never comes out
-
He's got talent...after hearing him destroy Benzino a few times.
-
i saw the rap name video the other day...nigga gots skills............i think he'll be nice
-
Obie's decent, but frankly I'm not anticipating this album much. I predict this album will be like the D12 album, tedious and with little replay value. Just my thoughts...
-
his got sum nice lyrics but he gets boring fasst
-
yeah his pretty dope, i havent heard all these tracks y'all talkin about but i heard his verse on 'love me' and it was pretty dope
-
Obie Trice's long-awaited debut will follow soon after (50 Cent).
"Obie is in the studio. His album is half-done," Eminem said on the set of 50 Cent's new video, "In Da Club." "We are hoping for spring [for Trice's release] and D12 in the fall. And we've already got songs for that album. We sneak [recording D12] songs in between 50's album. And Obie's album ... expect the same quality as 50's album, from my album, from Dre's album. It's the same type of producers, it's the same type of perfectionists in the studio with every artist.
"We won't put it out unless it's perfect," he continued, pointing toward his mentor, Dr. Dre, who appears in 50's clip along with Eminem. "I learned that from this man right here."
-
He's got two nice joints on the DJ Green Lantern mix tape. I like the way he flows. I think his debut will do O.K. I could see it going gold if its not heavily bootleged.
-
THERES ONE THING THATS SAVING THIS ALBUM...............PRODUCTION
NO DOUBT THE CATS GOT SKILLS BUT HE AINT SUITED TO DOPE BEATS BY DRE AND EMINEM, HIS A UNDERGROUND KAT, HE WONT BE ABLE TO MIX IT WITH DRE AND EMINEM........BUT HE MAY PROVE US ALL RONG
ALER-G AND NAZ-T GOT BETTA FLOWS AND LRYICS THAN THIS CAT

Eminem Losing Himself In The Studio With 50 Cent, D12
03.05.2003 7:47 AM EST
According to sources within his camp, Slim laid a good amount of the soundscapes for Obie Trice's spring debut and will soon be handing over the reins to Dr. Dre and Timbaland as that project, which also features Rockwilder beats, closes out.
Once production on Obie's LP is completed, Em will jump headfirst into D12's sophomore effort, due this summer. The plan is for Slim Shady to produce most of the tracks and put in time in the vocal booth as well.
Its a wrap for the rest of the labels.....

this droppin this summer with dre, timbaland, rockwilder and eminem behind the boards...........sounds like if all goes to plan, the beats are gonna be pretty sick on this if the producers do a good job
peace
-
I think this is gonna be a good CD.
-
After hearin' all of Obie's verses on Invasion'2 I really can't wait for this album.. This has some high expectations from me after hearin' Obie on the Green Lantern mix.

ALER-G AND NAZ-T GOT BETTA FLOWS AND LRYICS THAN THIS CAT
I can name at least ten emcees who I've seen at this site with better lyrics then most commercial emcees. I don't know about flow, but you just named at least two right there.
-
i definatly wanna hear this.. i like his style and he got nice lyrics
Rap Name's not the first single thought, it's just been shot to bring some attention to Obie
-
i have seen Obie perform his first single entitled "Cheers" on muchmusic in canada...they played this concert where Obie opened, then 50 came out, then eminem finished...Obie only played Rap Name, Drips, Some Other Song, And Cheers...i remember the chorus to the song going something like this:
Grab your cups of beer, put em up lets cheer/
This song is dedicated to the soldiers who ain't here/
This is it my niggaz, this what we boast about/
Now we here bitch so close your mouth/
i'm sure the lyrics aren't exact but they should be close...oh by the way, the beat to the song is soooo sick...before Obie preforms it he says it's gonna be his first single, i think he's gonna blow when it hits the radio, personally i think it's better than "In The Club" and either Dre or Eminem produced it just by hearing the sound...be on the lookout for this track, it's definately a heater, peace.
-
There is an ad for the album in the new XXL. A good sign that it might be coming soon.
-
I cant wait for this dam single to get out on the radios already!
-
the more i hear from Obie, the more i like him. I can't wait for his album to drop. With good production and some guests on the album I think it could be better than 50's easily. His album is very overrated.
-
anyone know when the Cheers single is gonna drop?
-
that cheers track was tite i seen that on much
-
what the tracks on radio?
-
i heard that the single is supposed to drop in mid-june but don't rely on that info. it's gonna blow for sure though, peace.
-
Well since he's already got a single completed and there's an ad for the album, we shouldn't have to wait too long... A mid-june single doesn't sound very far off with that info.

well aftermath usually give a joint that hits radio about a month-6 weeks before they release the actual album....i wouldnt be suprised if this drops mid or late july
they most likely jus finishing the album now though if they got the first single n shit done now
peace

obie got skillz
-

Timbaland, eh?
So I guess August is the month when the album drops, since he finishes touring at that time.

Hes got everything to gain and nothing to loose with Cheers. I just hope he drops a dope album that sells but the thousands. I think hes dope and hopefully the world will see after he drops this album.
-
Cheers should be dropping September the 8th in Europe 7 the 9th in America and that came straight from the horses mouth!!!
-
According to MTV, the first single is titled "Got Some Teeth" and the video will be shot next week in Detroit. It'll be directed by Philip Atwell and Eminem.
The album itself is coming out in September according to MTV, so Celtic_Fan's release date could really be it... All we can do is wait though.
-
good shit but will this one get pushed back like the rest of the good album's suppose to be coming out

Totally agree, Cheers is a KILLER track and is gonna blow up Obie into the 3rd Shady Mogul. He also is very articulate live, unlike that fat bitch 50 who SUCKED on that concert, you'd think Tony and Lloyd would help a brotha out but nooo they decided to stink it up too. Anyways, Obie > all. respectanize.

i found a clip of "cheers" on kazaa but the quality is terrible...look it up... the clip is about 1:30 long, peace.
-
Looks like a good tracklisting - not too many guests. :) Having Busta Rhymes there is cool! Very good that the album ain't filled with appearances from the whole Shady/Aftermath family.
-
I been waitin for obie album for ages now, and its good to see busta listed :)
-
Yah the clip on kazaa is from a tv concert broadcast in Canada. Can't believe no one ripped it better than what that putz did...horrrrrid quality.
