Damn really for what!??! I always wondered about him because I thought he was supposed to come out with a solo

Word this is a classic song. Best track of Street's Disciple.
But the video version is kinda different from the album version, and I don't like that. Nas cuts down Quan's last verse.
And Quan - damn... he can rap AND sing..
12" Mix (VIDEO VERSION):
[Verse 3: Quan]
And can we please have a moment to mourn?
For Pac, Biggie and Pun 'cause through us they live on
Jam Master Jay, Freaky Ty and Alliyah
Big L and Left Eye, when we die we wish to see ya...
[Nas]
Photographs of lost memories
On the blocks with blunts and Hennessey
Picture some niggaz in mock neck shirts
Ballantine Ale in brown bags
Brothers like to brag 'bout their cousins
That locked in the system
We all fall victims, we all call Christian
or Islamic faith, to restore all our faith
Barbed wire and tall brick wall
But we all can escape

Big L and Left Eye, when we die we wish to see ya
Can we please have a moment for children?
Who got raped or murdered, or trapped in the system
Who never knew their father, never learned to dream
But was guided by drug dealers, killers and crack fiends
For single mothers that's forced to play mom and dad
Bustin' her ass to give her kids shit she never had
For my niggaz in the pen hopin' rhymes'll get 'em signed
So when released, they can say bye to a life of crime
For very mother that held a son in the street bleedin'
Cryin' a song of sorow to dark and deep for speakin'
Just a moment outside the day to day struggle
To let the ones we really care about know that we love 'em

I know. Guess they agreed to have 1 and half verse each or something ?

Thats ashame hot is hot nobody what you know. Man I don't know why certain artist or record labels feel the need to always lower the quality of some things
-
Yeah ^ I know..
-
Yep...One of my favs from "Street's Disciple"
-
Fuck yeah. Another dope nas joint. Sucks that Quan never xcame out, he had a huge amount of potential :-\
-
Classic track, haven't heard this in ages.
-
top 3 fav tracks from nas
-
dope track, if nas cut SD down to 1 disc it would of been the album on the year
-
it was alright, nothin special in the lyrics good beat though

of course you would. you have a higher inflated sense of self worth when it comes to taste combined with a lower iq. you have no comprehension of multidimensional hip hop so it would just be insane to know and appreciate anything that differs from ur little narrow view. thats why u always post the same shit with a different name. u should banish yourself!

word don't even have it anymore on this pc,can someone up the dirty for me?
-
I think Quan was found with a lot of weed and a gun in his apartment and he wasn't allowed to own either. As he's been a former offender he got some years instead of a slap on the wrist.
As for the video version being different, well this is basically cause Nas stole this track from Quan. He probably thought he could get away with only one verse on his album but people would start asking questions when he obviously has way less of his on the video version than Quan.
-
^ Stole?
-
Nice track...
Nas is my favorite rapper, and I had not even heard this song. Streets Disciple is one of the Nas albums I never really listened to, along with Nastradaumus and I Am. Any other great cuts I missed on Streets Disciple? I know "Thiefs Theme" is dope, anything else on this level?
-
dope track. 8)

I can listen to (almost) all kinds of rap
-
Street's Disciple had a few wack tracks on Disc 2, but not nearly enough wackness to outweigh the good. I fuckin love that album, it's got some really dope music on it.
-
The track is good but I never like the beat much
-
Best song off Street's Disciple.
-
nas didnt steal the song he bought it off l.e.s. the producer who originally recorded it with quan, and nas wanted to use it for sd.
-
Does anyone have the mp3 of the video version? Props to anyone who has.

I was just being condescending. To me it's just not right to call it a Nas-song, especially the album version where Quan had the dope hook, 2 verses and Nas has just one (not particulary special) verse. I regard it as a Quan song, no matter what the label is.

Selling that track Nas was the best move of Quan's carear. Would this thread really be two pages long if Nas hadn't of blessed this track? We probably would have never heard the song.
Even the Quan deserves all the credit for making it a great song, its a Nas style track, so it fit pefectly, win win situation.
-
Yeah, they both fit perfectly.
Has Quan released anything more ?
-
pretty sure no album, but some mixtapes
