Title: Opinions on.... Tech N9ne - Welcome 2 Strangeland
Post by: Sccit on November 16, 2011, 11:16:19 AM
any1 feelin this album? i bet the new school Tech fans are nuttin over it........Tech will always be one of the illest in the game, but i put this release on the same level as his other recent releases, starting with "everready"...the only tech album since "everready" that i would consider up there with his classic shit is "KOD". other than that, i feel like while Tech is still puttin out good, quality shit (especially when compared 2 your typical hip-hop releases of today), nothing will ever touch his classics like "calm b4 the storm", "the worst", "anghellic", and even "absolute power"........i still fux wit it, though........whats every1s opinion on the latest Tech release, and the current ish he's been puttin out? havent seen any discussions on this 1 yet.............

this is the best song, rest is boring. he should start making shorter albums. All 6s and 7s was no classic but there are more memorable songs

"unfair", "my favorite", "sad circus", "overwhelming" and, "who do i catch" are not bad, and comparable to the best tracks on "all 6s n 7s"...really, though, it sounds like he tried 2 go a lil more raw on this one, but the seven beats are getting overplayed. too many "epic build-ups" and what not. seven's beats are sometimes too theatrical. it's cool for a couple tracks, but album after album of that shit can get tired. tech's flow is on-point, as always...it's mostly the production that gives the recent tech albums that similar theatrical sound. "KOD" was the best of all those....

Just bought it today I'll drop my thoughts later. His collabo albums have gone downhill. The first one was easily the best.

Even though this album is not that long, 15 deep without the bonus tracks, his albums are way too long. 20+ is way too much, skits or no skits..

Tech's always had long albums...difference is, back in the day there was no filler in his catalogue. nowadays, he makes a whole lotta different soundin ish and caters to all different sorts of hip-hop fans, meaning there's always some songs that'll get skipped.

Haven't heard this album yet, with the exception of a couple songs, but I agree with you in general about the last few Tech albums not being on the same level as his first several.

I haven't got the album yet but I'm a huge Tech N9ne fan so I'll be buying this. I have to agree his last couple albums have been way too long. If he had cut out the fillers they would still be classics.

I wasn't a big fan of the last 2 collab albums. I don't like the new party style.

Very surprised this thread is getting almost attention but then again Tech N9ne was always underrated.

He is one of my favorite rappers but it seems ever since Everready, his album quality kind of declined or maybe I am just getting old and one of those "I like the older stuff better" type of guys.

To be honest, I never liked his collabo albums but this one flows very well. It seems like all the songs are all connected (especially the first 4-5 tracks). I wouldnt say most songs stand out but they all flow well together, so I can actually listen to this album from beginning to end. I can't say the same for other collabo albums.

I would say this is one of the better collabo albums he put out.

Tech N9ne is an awesome rapper and I hope his next solo is something like his previous efforts with more stand out tracks.

Gave this two spins so far and I was surprised how much I liked it. Better then all 6's and 7's.
No bad songs and a few standouts.

Just depends on what you're looking for - I happened to think that Everready was a great introduction a mainstream audience without straying away from his style too much.

KOD was a nice, solid album - but it's one of those albums you can't listen to all the time. There's sometimes I just wanna listen to music that relates to real-life everyday shit, and KOD and a lot of his older shit simply isn't that, but Everready and Killer has a lot of those type of tracks.

One thing for sure - Tech is one of the illest pure emcees in the game. Haven't heard this album yet, but I will this week for sure.

I personally can't listen to anything before absolute power save for a few songs. The production is VERY dated. Didn't stand up well as the years passed.

seriously? u dont like "calm before the storm", "the worst"/"the worst 2k", "anghellic"?? damn. don juan is a fuckin beast... best producer tech's ever fucked with. if u havent checked those albums, check 'em. and if u did hear 'em in the past, try again. classic material. even "celcius" had some bangers.

"KOD" was just a great concept album..."Killer" and "Everready" had a lot of bangers, but also way too much filler. and "KOD" had a couple tracks u could relate 2, as well: "Low", "Leave Me Alone"...i know what u mean, though. shit was more of a concept album, but thats what i like about it.

I agree about his earlier albums being really good and all the other albums after Everready having fillers BUT EverReady definitely had no filler tracks. All the tracks were banging and I think it's his best Mainstream album to date.
