The problem with all those albums you named is that none of them are timeless. Nas' God's Son album is a Timeless classic. The tracks Nas made on that album will live forever. The albums you mentioned may have been better in their time. Like for example Doggystyle represented the rise of the West and gangsta rap and Death Row and all that shit and in it's time it was wayyyy larger than God's Son. And I bumped the hell out of it way more than God's Son.
But 10 years from now I will still be bumpin God's Son every winter, and Doggystyle doesn't get any rotation for me anymore. So you have to consider "replay value".

i dunno about u, but most of those albums are timeless to me...i can still bump "dogg food" and it goes just as hard as the first time i heard it, nearly 20 years ago. and to me, "illmatic" is more timeless than "god's son". don't get me wrong, "god's son" is a great album. i just don't think it's as well produced as many of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

Yeah, "Illmatic" is in my top 5 all-time favorite albums, and it still makes it's way into my listening rotation several times a year. Objectively speaking, it is better than God's Son.
Yes, Dogg Food still bumps, can't be fucked with. I have no problem with anyone arguing that it's the best either.
-
Guess i'll add i own every Nas album cep "nastradamus" and i didnt really like "gods son". Other east i listen i recently is stuff by WU, Killah priest and Canibus.

I mostly only listen to 90s east coast music or artists that come from that era. Last album I probably checked was by Nas or Jay-Z but nothing that really stayed in rotation.
-
Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince - DJ...Rapper. The remastered expanded CD sounds great.
I bumped that OC album recently too, he's one of my favorites.

Biggie - Born Again
-
Group Home - Livin' Proof
Before that: Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth

Brand Nubian - „Everything is Everything”
-
I got A Tribe Called Quest’s latest album ‘Thank You 4 Your Service, We Got It From Here’ (2016) the other day. It’s a great album that updates their sound to the modern age but still in keeping with the vibe they are known for.
Well worth checking out if you haven’t got round to it yet.

EPMD - Strictly Business
Everyone knows Sermon is a legend behind the boards and also tight on the mic, and then at that rhyme they were considering Parrish as a second to Rakim, price to his Kingship.
I wouldn't know because I was only listening to Young MC "principals office" and "OPP" and "Rump Shaker" in those days because I was too young to have EPMD on my radar.
