Amazing.

Great album. A proper mainstream one, from top to bottom, it has a very nice flow.

fixed ;) but i have to agree dont bump Ross to ofetn cuz he is very generic but this albums is really good to the point im considering coping cd
-
Until track 8 I was like man this is the best rap album in a long time. Sixteen is 8)
But then I had to skip 8...then 9...10... 11... 12 damn.... 13 shit
Man there's way too much track i skip. Maybe they'll grow on me but for me to skip a track it must really sucks.
I think I like Teflon Don better. But maybe it'll grow on me
I'm giving this a 6/10 based on the strong start of the album and good/ok end of the album

copping tuesday 8)
-
Honestly this album has big surprises, "3 Kings" "Sixteen", even joints like "Ashamed" and "Amsterdam" show why Ross can pick a dope beat and GO IN!
But after hearing all the album its not the "teflon Don" on steroids i was hoping for, the singles are not as acceptable this time around "Touchin You" sucks
The guest appearances this go round are still great but sometimes are bland "Diced Pinapples" (None of them could save this generic shit)
Even his signature songs like "Hold Me back" and "911" are boring considering we had like 12 of these on Rich Forever Mixtape, was hoping for more joonts like the first 7 songs
For me Nas has the better album
-
does anyone have a link to this shit?
-

exactly, he should have cut some of the track to make it as long as Teflon Don
-
Are y'all trolling or some shit?
-
Real shit. If you dont like this album, then you just mad and a hater. And probably have a subpar social life.

werd the first few tracks were dope as fuck. "sixteen" is ridiculous, andre 3k goes the fuk in. 2nd half of the album is pure garbage tho
turns 103 back up

You didn't hear the deluxe version then?
http://www.youtube.com/v/pjoW4Nt-9Mk <------the pitch on the album version is different from this btw.
It's true Ross got out done by Andre 3k and Nas on the album (no big shocker) Sixteen and Triple Beam Dream are great tracks. Andre's verse on Sixteen is incredible.
911 is dope too, A track I'd actually go back to to bump.
I asked when this leaked 'Whos down with Ricky' and no one admitted they liked the guy (not surprising as most West Coast fans only focus on Charisma/Delivery and Production Sound, as opposed to Lyricism/Musicality). God Forgives I Don't has a smattering of both and anyone who dismisses the album as outright whack probably doesn't know a thing about music in general. I'm not a fan of Rick, but to me he sounds like The Game when he's on form, the dude got Hood Credentials and thats what people listen to him for...just don't expect rich music here. The good he's doing is keeping rap in the mainstream, and out of the funny pages. 7/10

My respect for NIK has got up significantly if some of y'all are really trying to call this album "pretty good" let alone "classic".
There might be five good songs on here. It's funny though, usually when somebody drops something "really good" niggas just steady can't stop talking about individual songs in these threads...but I'd be impressed if someone could name me three that would even lead me to believe it's close to a "classic".

It's a modern day classic. It has no real singles, but as an album - it's one of the most solidly compiled albums I've heard in the past ten years. Even the songs I want to skip, I'll listen to.

Did u get this excited about Life Is Good? I gave God Forgives a 7/10 - that's only just a bubpable disc for me. I won't be buying it based on that alone, just not enough replay value in it not bring a fan of Ross

Nice, minimal reply.
Life is Good is the better album. I have to give Ross his props but the albums nothing close to Klazzik, in any sense IMO

Did you want me to reply with a paragraph like you and Mike arguing back and forth? I'm not for that. To be real, the reason for the short reply is - these message boards kinda suck now a days and why would I want to give my input to on one where no real discussion is to be had? Ross reminds me of Biggie flow wise. I assume Diddy being his manager taught him how to do Biggie's style. So, he mashed Biggie's style with The Clipse coke selling, that's the lyricism in the album. Reminds me a lot of Clipse. It's good though. Ross is known for that. Then the production. The production is what really makes the album. It's sequenced very well for being southern music, not only that but the arrangement on each track was AMAZING. With today's standard's in music steadily declining, Ross will be a shining flashlight in a dark hallway, at least in the mainstream. So, if Ross' album is that bad to people, I take it they don't listen to California radio or any other music minus the shit that gets mad spins on K-Day. Nothing against K-Day and the classics, but there is more out there. Sure, you can't touch 2Pac and Biggie, but then again - they were the first - they were the blue print. So, how can you beat something automatically revered by the older heads? You can't. So, that's why I call this album a modern day classic. It's not a Doggystyle now, but ten years from now - it will be truly appreciated because as it seems - we have nothing but down to go from here.
-
Take an eBreath now!!!
Yes it's dope but Ross calls back to Biggie and Pac (more so biggie) and it could be his signing, but I took it to be just classic hip hop references. Not saying that's bad anyway, far from it. There is at least one weak track, the garbage 'these niggaz wont hold me back' track. One for the Juicy J fans. Lyrically its ok but Ross is out done by Nas and Andre 3k on the the album. It's not an album I'd ever recommend other than to Rick Ross fans but having said all that it was a tidy album as a whole. I disagree though, in years to come it'll be forgotten in the scheme of good music.
-
i like ross.but this album is not better than his 1st...this lp.has aleast to be truthful 8 nice tracks on it...imo.this album could have been thought out a lil.more..cause the title is a monster, and the cover.

Andre 3k is in the form of his life right now. Microphone Killer :o

LOL @ Ross getting credit for Andre lyrically destroying his song & rapping twice as long as he does.
Ross stays trolling. It's almost the equivalent of DJ Khaled getting credit for being a good rapper for saying "WE THE BEST" over a song done by five other rappers.

Dope album. There's a couple tracks in the middle of the album I don't like but the first half and the last couple tracks make up for it.

This album is crap.
Ill admit, the first part of the album is pretty decent. I was even surprised by how much I was liking it. Then hold me back comes on and its completely down hill. Three of the most generic trap songs that ross could create in a row. I was shocked how badly this album turned. Then like four shitty rnb type tracks in a row. Wow. whoever seqeuenced this album needs to be shot in the face with a bazooka. Album goes from decent to aboslute shit in a real hurry.
LOL at this album being classic.
-
congrats to Ross for the number 1 album in the country. 219,000 copies sold. this will be in my whip for the rest of the year.... support good music and buy it. #GFID!!!!
-
Impressed with this album, solid all the way through
Standout tracks:
3 Kings
Pirates
Ashamed
Sixteen
but they're all solid: maybach music iv, amsterdam, hold me back, 911 etc
-
i guess going for the lowest common denominator really is the way to be successful in music

Lol at Ross not getting a pass when so many other 'street' sounding artists do (Game for example)
I'd bet his most vocal detractors haven't even heard the album

this thread isnt about other 'street' rappers this thread is about rick ross and his album. back to the topic, does this album deviate from ross' other efforts or is it basically the same formula/sound as his others (in your exhaulted opinion)?

No i havent heard it but since you didnt answer my question im guessing that this album is typical ross, which is nothing groundbreaking/thought provoking/different in any sense of the word. Please feel free to answer my question and tell me im wrong here and i might give it a try.

You're asking a non Ross fan to tell you if this material is typical?
I'll get back to you when I've gone over his back catalogue, so my answer qualifies as valid for you

as someone who admittedly pays attention to new rap music enough to know the bad from the good you certainly know something about ross' music right?

Enough to know he's on the mainstream map. A friend of mine thinks his shit don't stink and has played me loads of tracks before. Apart from that I checked out buzz singles like Tupac Back, heard him featured etc but never took my interest any further than that.
There's no point in me trying to convince you anyway if you expect all hiphop to be pushing boundaries and thought provoking. Ross doesn't fit with your music sensibilities

All music should not be thought provoking or groundbreaking. The problem is guys like ross get popular by being absolutely the same as the next guy without any personality of their own. Which is funny because all of this concentration on "swag" and "personality", youd think these guys were actually pushing limits but theyre far from it. "Im a boss, im in the trap, ive got whores and hoes, ive got money, ive got clothes, ive got money". Now I really know who ross is as a person.
