DJ Quik – Under tha Influence
1. Tha proem…Good opening track. Laidback beat, with a gangsta touch. It features Talib Kweli, Shyheim, and Hi-C. I would’ve liked to hear Quik on a verse, but still a good song. 3.5/5
2. Trouble…I love the production. It’s a light beat, with a heavy hitting bassline. Quik has 2 very tight verses. 4/5
3. Come 2nyte…Quik has a good flow and the production is nice, but the guitar gets a bit repetitive. Truth Hurts provides a nice hook. 3.5/5
4. Put it on me…Typical Dre production. Quik and Dre sound great trading verses. Dre’s voice sounds quite different, but great. Dope hook. 4/5
5. Murder 1 case…Crisp production. Average flow from guest artists, but Quik’s got a dope flow. Tight chorus. 4/5
6. Ev’ryday…Quik and Hi-C spit faster-paced rhymes to the beat. Flow is good, but I’m not diggin’ the production. 3/5
7. Get loaded…Nice laidback production. Hook is reminiscent of early 90’s hooks. AMG appears for a tight verse. 4/5
8. Gina Statuatorre’…Track about underage girls. Good lyrical content. Chuckey appears to add a Jamaican touch to the song, which surprisingly sounds good. 3.5/5
9. 50 ways…Softer production. Quik speaks of life and his deceased friend Mausberg, with intensity. The only thing I don’t like about the track is the chorus, which could have been a lot better. 4.5/5
10. Quik’s groove 6…I don’t rate the instrumentals.
11. Get the money…Solo track by Suga Free. He puts down a tight flow against the dope production. 4/5
12. One on 1…R&B track. Very slow beat and Quik’s voice is soft and quiet. El Debarge provides the “Roger Troutman-like” vocals for the hook. Doesn’t fit on the album. 1.5/5
13. Sex crymee…The production is repetitive and annoying. It’s a club sounding song. Quik’s voice is quiet, but his flow isn’t that great here anyway. 2/5
14. Birdz & da beez…Smooth production. Tight verses from Quik, Hi-C, and AMG. 3.5/5
15. Oh well…Tight production and great lyrical content. Dope delivery. 4/5
OVERALL…7.5/10
Quik’s production is a lot better on this album than his last one. The beats have a laidback feel, but with a west coast touch. Quik’s flow is dope and I just wish there were more good solo songs. Two of the solo Quik songs here were the worst on the album. Overall, it’s got a decent replay value.

Damn! I would've gave 1 on 1, Everyday, Sex Crimey & Murda 1 Case a 5/5

Good record although I like "Rhythm-Al-Ism" more. The songs "Trouble" and "One On 1" are almost classics though.

5. Murder 1 case?Crisp production. Average flow from guest artists, but Quik?s got a dope flow. Tight chorus. 4/5
WTF? Is you on dope?
Pharoahe ripped it.
I almost feel bad for Quik, his verses couldn't be compared.

Maybe I to be on dope to think that Pharoahe Monch ripped that track. Average flow to me.

Maybe I NEED to be on dope to think that Pharoahe Monch ripped that track. Average flow to me.
