Jones to Fight Tyson in Kenya this Fall
« on: July 17, 2003, 10:22:05 AM »
Twenty-nine years after Muhammad Ali surprised George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaire, Roy Jones Jr. appears set to stage Rumble in the Jungle II.

Jones says he would like to defend his WBA championship against either Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis on November 8 in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.

Akbar Muhammad, senior vice-president of Roy Jones Enterprises, tells The Daily Mirror newspaper that negotiations are at an advanced stage with Tyson.

"We are holding negotiations with Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis but the most probable opponent for Roy Jones will be Tyson," he said. "Roy Jones has given a commitment to defend his title in Nairobi on November 8 and he will be coming here on July 21 to promote the fight."

A bout with Tyson looks more likely since Lewis is set to defend his heavyweight championship against Vitali Klitschko sometime this fall.

Jones became the first boxer in more than 100 years to go from middleweight champion to heavyweight champion when he defeated John Ruiz last March.

I care 'cause it will be a great fight. And it's like Ali-Fraizer 2, you know the winner is going to fight the champ. So I can't wait. both fights happen around the same time from each other. I hope to see Roy win... and take Lewis crown. 'Cause he is Superman.

R.I.P Roy Jones Jr

Tyson/Lewis will KILL this little guy. Because BOTH of these fighters are not going to go in to techs and point boxing. THEY"RE GOING AFTER THE MUSCLE GAME, seriously Tyson will be going for the 1 round knock out, and Lewis will just sit back and knock him around.

If Tyson wins he will not be fighting Lewis because Lewis doesn't want that fight anymore.

If you really think Jones can handle Lewis? Look at the last Lewis fight with Klitschko, who think Jones could handle those shots that Lewis and Klitschko were giving each other?

This fight with Tyson will prove whether or not Jones can handle a heavyweight because the fight against Ruiz doesn't count because Ruiz sucks and he was a paper champ.

If Jones is to fight Tyson, Lewis or Klitschko the way he fought Ruiz, then he will be KO because during the Ruiz fight there was numerous amounts of times were Jones stuck his head out telling Ruiz to punch him. If he fights like that again it will be over for Jones.

Those are real quotes. Jones is going to Kenya to promote his fight in Kenya on November. It didn't say it was signed it said it was betwwen either Lewis or Tyson, but since Lewis is fighting Klitschko in the fall, it will be Tyson who will most likely face Jones in November. If you read the article you would see that the fight isn't signed but Jones will be fighting in Kenya on November 8.

Read before you make a stupid calm of a fake rumour.

To see where this article came from go to www.tsn.ca/boxing

Guess what I just checked ESPN's boxing site, and do you know what? The rumour there too. So don't say it's not on ESPN's website without checking it 1st. http://espn.go.com/boxing/index.html

Jones stands a better chance against Tyson then any BIG Heavyweight i think. Ruiz doesnt count, cus he jus fukin sucks. But Tyson has power, but i seriously doubt he's fast enough to keep up wit Jones. He couldnt get out of the way of Lewis's shots, imagine tryna duck the MUCH MUCH MUCH quiker hands of Jones. This shit should be off tha chain tho!!!!!!

Jones VS Tyson?  HOT

PS: I think the ONLY fighter out there that could de-crown Lewis is Klistchko.  When they fight next, Vitali will win.  As long as his eye don't get fucked up again, he's golden.  I want Vitali to win...I think Lewis is an asshole.

Lewis will win in the rematch because he'll be in shape and he'll have more then 2 weeks to prepare for this fight.

Kirk Johnson still says that he would've KO Lewis if he didn't get injuried and pull out of the fight. However Johnson couldn't beat Ruiz.

Maybe...I don't think so though.  In the fights I've seen with Lewis, I've never seen anyone pound Lewis like Vitali.  Lewis was seeing stars in the 2nd round.

Most of the rounds that Lewis won in that fight came after the 2nd round.
