...@ the moment.
Face it, Dre is running low on his "2001" supply of beats. He is obviously busy coming up with "Detox" beats and concepts. This is why we aven't gotten anything spectacular from the usual Dr. Dre.
Lets look @ this year:
"The Knoc" was a weak, poppy wannabe track that failed to get Knoc's lp out.
Dre's work on TES was nothing like what it was on MMLP. "Business" is his dopest work yet this year. The other two tracks are average.
His work on "Truthfully Speaking" was good. "Push Play" was tight, "Jimmy" was average. Although the "Addictive Remix" was the tightest of all.
"Miss You Remix" was prolly done in 10 minutes.
Then Dre gave out a year and a half old track to Eve, "What." "Satisfaction" is nice. This will be a single, only Dre's third this year. Again nothing banging like "Family Affair" from last year.
"What A Shame" and "Yo Ho" were again okay.
Now his stuff on Xzibit. Again, nothing great. It seems like I've heard "Choke Me, Spank Me" and Losin Your Mind" before.
ON THE OTHER HAND...
Em pumped out some sick ass beats this year.
"Without Me" was a huge hit, along with his album, which he did 90% of. He hooked up Royce Da 5'9 and Xzibit wih bangers.
You also got "Loose Yourself" and the whole "8-Mile" deal along with 50 Cent.
Em is just getting better and better, and I think this year, Eminem has done a better job.
Em could destroy any rapper-producers like Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland and Irv Gotti for sure.
Wha ya think?

You sad pathetic cornball. Even Eminem would laugh at you for making such a stupid comment. This is what happens when you have Michael Jackson cock sucking, Star Wars obsessed dorks try to talk about the music industry. Really sad, quite frankly.

That is what I think, next time read through what I wrote instead of bashing me you dick faced, cumm guzzling sack of shit grease that has no friends.
Dre hasn't made a hit for anyone this year. He failed with "The Knoc," he failed with "What A Shame" and I doubt he will make Eve more money like he did last year.
Look @ Eminem:
He blasted off with "Without Me" = HUGE
Then "Cleaning Out my Closet" which was another big hit.
He went 5X Platinum with minimal Dre help with an album he almost did on his own.
Now he's got another hit which he did with "Loose Yourself."
and Bitch-Suge...I don't even pay attention to Michael Jackson so sit on that shit and spin mutherfucker.
-
Wha ya think?
wut I think is this is straight bullshit
The reason Eminem makes Hits is cuz it's HIM and he's successfull as fuck.
u don't wanna tell me Without Me is better than Buisness do u?
His first singles would be hits no matter what
Plus theres much girls that love the "funny" shit like Without Me but success doesn't mean shit, especially not in Ems case.
I don't say Em ain't got no skills, he got great skills but fact is that his hitsingles is anything but the greatest work of his albums.
He could destroy weak bitches like JD or Irv Gotti but not Timbaland.
Eminem going 5x latinum doesn't in ANY way mean he's good producer.
-
Murrow it's pretty obvious that makin a post like that u'll get shitted on
I don't consider Eminem a very great producer, but neither I think he's as wack as sum people say. Also I'm rather disappointed in Dre at the moment, so u ain't that wrong...still I wouldn't say Em's better

Great arguments u back ur oppinion up with ::)
-
Yea,
I would also agree to some point. Dre really hasn't been making beats that are supposed to be on his level and it seems as though EM keeps comin up with catchy shit constantly. I really haven't felt any of Dre's production since 2001. I'll wait for Detox to decide for sure.

Thank you. Bitch-Suge doesn't even count cause he got no backup.
I'm talking about this year alone. Em has come with the tight songs. Dre hasn't been productive at all.
I think "Without Me" is a good club banger. His style is fresh. Just peep "My Name." I'm not even talking about sales either, it is just that EM is in overdrive making music fast, AND GOOD." You know he is all over "8-Mile" and we'll hear him all over 50 Cent as well.
Alot of people shoudn't mash on me for this post seeing people saw me as a Dre dick rider many times.

I agree to some extent, but after listening to "Choke Me, Spank Me" and "Addictive RMX" I disagree again ;D. Seriously, Em can't cope with Timbaland and JD. He still needs some time to find his own style. His beats are nice, but they sound like Dre clones.
-
eminem's product as a whole has been better yeah in the recent year and a half, but i would never say he's better than dre, becuase dre oversees and sweeks every beat to his liking
i'd give it until the end of the year until we see dre back on top again , you got to remember detox and oh my god are 2 very time consuming albums and all the beats out now are just rejects/leftovers that artists dre knows have heard and were willing to buy off him.
dre is still and will always be the better producer......it's just that your seeing more top grade product out from eminem right , dre'll release his top product soon and i garantee it'll be huge and every other person in the world will be on his sack again
-
Being dissappointed of Dre and not of Em doesn't in any way mean Ems betta.
U expect Dre to bring A-L-O-T betta production than u expect Em to.
-

now this is pathetic. I don't know how old you are but I hope you're under 15. If you are older than 16 you should think about counseling or vacation in a mental hospital.

I'm sure that once "Oh My God" and "Detox" roll around Dre will be refueled and will rise way above ANYONE. I'm saying a the moment.

some guys in here are completely retarded, they read the title only and that's it. They didn't even get to "@ the moment".
-
lol at this thread.,.. (YES, i saw the at the moment note)
Eminem aint even producing the beat by himself... dre is always one step behind to put him to the right direction

Look at the credits. Dre doesn't even mix Eminem's songs that he produced. They aren't even around eachother as much as they use to be. It is simple: Em learned from Dre, he has his influence which you can hear, but it is his own work.
-
Although Em is nowhere near Dre's level overall, i will agree that he is better than dre AT THE MOMENT....
As for em's singles only blowing up cuz its him, i guarantee WITHOUT ME would've blown up with anyone rapping over that beat.........despite its commercialism, it may be the catchiest beat this year.
Lose Yourself is dope too, and so was a lot of production on Ems' cd (and i never even really liked that album, but the production was nice, as was his track on Royces album)
-
on sing for the moment dre isn't listed at all but there's video proof dre was turning some knobs and puttning in work on that song (check Aerosmith Icons)

That's just the Job of executive producer, he can touch up tracks and fuck with them a bit. Isn't it?
-
Hell No!!!!!
-
care to explain then?
-
"My Name" was his dopest beat ever...But Eminem is not even near Dre's level...PeACe
-
I ain't a big fan of either but I think Dre has had better beats than em. Tha beats em made this year are pretty weak to me. His production sounds like Dre's but weaker.
-
I've been impressed with Em's production throughout the year, but he's still not even close to Dre's level. He's never produced anything thats made me stand up and say 'wow', but i've lost count of how many times Dre's beats have. I gotta be honest though, I liked his beats better than Dre's on "The Eminem Show".
-
That's just the Job of executive producer, he can touch up tracks and fuck with them a bit. Isn't it?
The way I see it is the executive producer of an album oversees the project. He might choose which tracks make it, what order, arrange producers, etc.
(That's what I am assuming)
-
I dont think Em is as anywhere near dre in the producing side of rap music. But he cvertainly is one of the best but I dont think he will ever be as good as dre. But lately Em has put out some great beats and dres have mostly been below average so I'll give you that.
-
Well I dunno if I'd go to the extreme to call Em better, but I've definately been dissapointed with Dr. Dre's creativity lately. Is he hooked on drugs again, or drinking? Seems like he's in a slump and just rehashing old stuff.
Now, with that said, his beats are probably still better than anything else out, but they ain't the A+ they usually are, ya know? I've been saying this for months, Quik, Daz, Warren G, a lot of guys (Hi Tec, etc.) in MY OPINION are being much more creative than dre right now. Maybe dre's in the end are better beats, but these guys are consistantly changing the game, when dre's just kinda treading water right now.
Maybe we expect too much outta him, and always want him to push the envelope, but I think when someone's as talented as him, you expect stuff you've never heard before. Some of his recent beats have dissapointed me, not that they were bad, just they weren't as amazing as I had hoped they would be.
-
Case in Point, on Truth's album, tell me "Hollywood" who I think Hi Tec (spelling?) produced, isn't more creative than most of dre's recent stuff. I think ever since Quik dropped the "Can't go wrong" beat on Kurupt's album, he's been consistantly more creative. I also think Daz's stuff with Mike Dean is more creative and pushing the envelope more than dre right now. Dre will be back though, i'm sure. Peace~
-
im with murrow, kinda, i wouldnt say all year dound eminem has been better but certain beats on the eminem show were more catchy.......not sayin better, but more catchy then dres and his work on 'my name' was his dopest beat 2 date even thought he may have had help with it. dres in a mode at the moment were it seems all his beats are like on action replay, but i think his jus busy workin on stuff for 50 cents, rakim, himself and other stuff, so overall i say eminems latest shit has been a lil bit mo dope but still dres betta 2 me......kuz the replay value of it is alot betta, thought soldier and my name are 2 sick sick beats
peace
-
Damn Murrow, I was just about to make a thread very similiar to this....I agree with you that at the moment Em is a better producer. I mean damn near every track on Eminem Show is A+ production. I think Em is one of the best producers out right now. And if he is able to maintain it he'll simply be "one of the best producers out". Even though a lot of people shit on your opinion Incognito, I with ya 100%.
-
fool....who do you think mold them all....
they can't funk w/the surgeon general....
-
Thanks for the people who could see my view instead of jumping on me.
Em just gets better and better, you know he will be doing hits for other names in 2003, cause he prolly won't drop an album then. He'll produce Obie Trice, Proof and D-12 along with other acts.
Dre is my favorite producer of all time, but he is just taking it easy at the moment.
-
yeah but thats another point someone made, eminems makin sick beats for some kats at the moment but remember dre tought him loadsa shit n that other dude his always been workin with from the start
peace
-
Just for the record, Dre is still my favorite producer of all time. BTW....just because somebody starts something doesn't mean they are the best at it. So the originator is always the best? What about the guy who invented basketball? I guess he is better than Michael Jordan then.
-
Even Eminem would laugh at you for making such a stupid comment.
-
MMLP Sold 1.7 in it's first week, dre produced
TES Sold wha...300k? That's weak for his standards.
TES is half packed with shitty Rock. When Em produces for OTHER artists to make them bigger, then tell me he's better than JD and Dre. Because new artists will go to Dupri before Em.

Dre produced like 6 of 14 of MMLP.
And TES sold over a million in it's first 7 days. [Remember it's was offically released on a Sunday (U.S.)]

I hate to say it, but that Murrow cat is most definatly on point. If you're talking about of ALL TIME, obviously, Em is nowhere near Dre's level as a producer. Dre has produced classic album after classic album. BUT.........
RIGHT NOW, Em is EASILY a better producer than Dre is right now. All of Dre's work lately has been rather sub par if you ask me, though Business was a hot joint. Em's beats, on the otherhand, have been nothing but pure fire.
-

Yup...
About TES...if it wasn't so heavily bootlegged it would of officially been 7X Plat like the MMLP. Right now it is 5X plat.
I just hope Eminem, with the help on Dre can do the right first single for 50 Cent's album. For the sake of sales, make it something mass appealing. If anyone could do it, Eminem and Dre could. Seeing the success they've had with "My Name Is," "The Real Slim Shady" and "Without Me." Although they should make a song that isn't so commercial like those 3.
-
Another thing...when the beats for TES leaked..half y'all thought they were Dre beats...but songs like these turned out to be Em produced gems...
"Square Dance"
"Till I Collapse"
"Sing For The Moment"
"When The Music Stops"
All of those are better beats (and songs) that Dre has done recently with the exception of "Business." Which is hella tight.
-
which artists made the songs "what a shame" and "yo ho"? I've never heard them...

Devin The Dude.

(That's what I am assuming)
Traditionally, executive producers have just been the people that pay for the studio time, pay the guest stars, pay the producers, etc. But recently, the "Executive Producer" title has meant what you described (the person who oversees the project, makes sure that each beat is dope, makes sure that everyone's verses come correst, etc.).

Wow, to believe niggas were really taling about Detox 6 years ago...we shouldn't even call it Detox anymore because the project has been started over so many times. That nigga Quick said Dre has recorded over 400 songs for the album, that means he don't know what direction to go in.
-
Dumb Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Are you fucking serious?
Em is a garbage producer. Just listen to his crappy ass remixes on Pac's albums. A good producer doesn't need to fuck up Pac's vocals because he can't make a good beat to match the vocals.
-
LMAO!
-
eminem's beats can't fuck wit dre's shit are you crazy ????

dre's the goat so...

dre's the goat so...
I agree to the fullest. I was just bumpin' The Chronic.

I've been hating Eminem since he fucked up those 2pac songs with his "glorious" producer skills.

::)

Both of "Without Me" and "Cleaning Out My Closet" is actually produced by Jeff Bass... so many Eminem hits produced by Jeff Bass... So i think maybe you can compare Jeff Bass and Dr.Dre...
