Eh...I'm not really feeling this song that much after a couple of listens. The beat is hella simple and they could have done better with their verses. Quik sounds hella different on this song.
http://download.yousendit.com/A2B3409000427624
oh btw it's the clean version.
-
I like it
has a hyphy feel to it
-
Yeah this is the one everybody was talkin about, and the one I heard on the radio last Friday at the mall.
-
props. + 1 ...im gonna check it out
-
very south influencd ... could be a club banger, but it sounds like theres somethin missing ... specially in the chorus ...
-
the beat is plain but it still bangs
-
great great beat. Beginning of the hook sucks. Props for this.
-
this shit is wack....sounds like that D4L bullshit...
-
the beat is plain but it still bangs
But there isn't really a hook :(
-

But there isn't really a hook :(
i dont know man but im off that brew and this shit sounds dope
-
this is produced by dj quik ??? doesn't sound like him. this might grow on me but i doubt it
-
I actually like the beat. Why the fuck did Quik use a southern accent though? Fuckin weirdo.
-
i think Quik was off that DRANK.his voice sound diff. .
-
nothin special but it's tight, I like it haha
-
:'(
C'mon Quik!.. You can do a lot better than that!
-
Props...the song is REAL dope...I hope Quik has puts of his trademark sound on his new album too (like from the Under Tha Influence through Trauma era)... 8)
-
i'll bump it again drunk and see if it gets better
-
dont know what to think of it on first listen :/
nothin what i expected
-
lol people giving me negative karma pts for this thread, hope i didnt hurt ya feelings or nothin lol....i'm all for supporting the west, but riding on the southern bandwagan? i know quik could do alot better then this...i wish he would make like a Rhythm-al-ism pt2 or somethin...that was his best work imo....
-
This song is a bad joke for peps listening south shit, my bad that beat is wack as hell !
-
I hope that he is just making fun of the south..
-
Im feelin it, it's a nice beat, I no its simple but it still bangs! Not wot were used 2 hearin from quik but u can still tell that its him.
-
I can snap my fingahz on this shit 8)
-
I hope that he is just making fun of the south..
must be
he didnt need to clown the south again though. 'What They Think' never gets old
-
I hope that he is just making fun of the south..
For real, this must be a joke.
The worst song Quik has ever done, period.
-
I hope that he is just making fun of the south..
For real, this must be a joke.
The worst song Quik has ever done, period.
It would be dope if he is just trying to show how easy it is to make a hit nowadays
-
Wow, thats wack. The beat is one some Laffy Taffy stuff :'(
-
i can support an artist if he's trying to change his sound... as long as he stays AHEAD OF THE CURVE...
this joint sounds weird, i mean its the first AMG and QUIK collabo that isnt :o
these dudes have chemistry, why try and change the formula to conform to music that is popular nowadays (ie. the south) ??? ... i hope the rest of this album is on some of that rhythm-al-istic funky shit that we're used to
oh and props to the dude who hooked up the audio
peace
-
this song is aight, not really that special, but still better then the average song, is it me or has quik twisted his voice here? lol
+1 for the hook-up
-
can I get a re-up? thanks in advance
-
heres the re-up

peace
thank you sir ;)
-
wtf? loool or someting..
-
hmm I think this is a smart move... It's not the Quik trademark sound it's different. but the beat is bangin with big speakers.
-
Yo can anyone post up the lyrics?
-
i think the song is simply showing how artists down south make a record. simple beat and bullshit lyrics. you can tell by AMGs lyrics in his verse at the start they just clownin
-
I got the same impression as when I heard "Fandango" for the first time: "This is wack and the expectations for the new album go down down down".
The beat is like a joke, Quik sounds like he just woke up, the hook is ok. It would work ok with another beat.
-
wtf :-\
-
it's not as bad as you're all making it out too be. atleast it's a clean beat and not the sloppy usual south shit.
-
so now when i write or talk about dj quik and me being a fan will be in the past mode.
-
I think, quik lost his own style. he wants to make money. everbody know that quik didnt sell well with his old albums
-
I think, quik lost his own style. he wants to make money. everbody know that quik didn't sell well with his old albums
Thats one thing, he is trying to make money at this stage of his career and i don't blame him at all for that. Personally tho i don't have to buy it either tho. It reminds me of e-40 i used to lie hi but then he tried making money and he did but now i don't like him anymore.
As far as quik tho i haven't liked most his stuff ever since balance and options thats the last of his records i bought
-
I'll check out after. Is this a new album from quik? I assume that just maybe the single is southern feel to it, because he's puttin on this "album" on a mainstream label, and this could generate sales?
-
The song is pretty hot, it's completely different from anything Quik usually does, but the beat bangs when you turn it up.
-
That being said, this is very much below Quik's standard, of course.
-
lol i got -3 karma just because I posted that I like the song in this thread.... wow :o
-
Yall need to stop !! The man been in the game 15+ and he still one of the best.Yeah the beat is'nt so complex or what you used to hearing from him ,but when you go out to the club outside of the west coast I'm pretty sure this will be in rotation.Plus it's him and G how long you been waiting for this.Work with that!! Let quik get that money he ain't gone crossova. ;)
-
NIMA WE NEED OF A QUIK INTERVIEW U KNOW
-
Wow, thats wack. The beat is one some Laffy Taffy stuff :'(
laffy taffy ain't as bad as you think, plus it was #1 song in the country.
-

Yuo make a good point
-
Oh and how come quik and amg sound totaly different, why do they change they voice lool i think quik even puts on a south accent lol
-

Thing is....it's one thing to take a formula of what's been hot on radio, and put your own twist to it to where people are like damm, that is sick...but when you have talent, especially at Quik's level, you should never aim to make a beat that sounds exactly like what's been done, without innovating it at all.
It's like this....yeah, "Laffy Taffy" and "Lean wit it" were very simple, and wack in many people's eyes, but many producers since then took those elements and ended up making dope beats with that same structure...so we got songs like "You should be my girl" and "She likes that" from Jazze Phe. Or how "Wait" and "Vans" have just drums..but other producers took that formula and made beats like Rhymefest "Stick" and Ray Ray "Tell em what they wanna hear" which built off of that.
So with Quik doin this track...he didn't do anything to change up the game, or help it evolve...so the beat just blends in with everything that's already been done. Not only that...but for all of us sayin "well he wants to make a nationwide hit" that makes plenty sense...but it's two major things we aren't thinkin bout....number one, this song isn't nearly as catchy as most of the down south songs that blow up...and two, it's never about how dope the song is, but how much it gets pushed. If they pushed "Black Mercedez" hard as hell, and pushed this song just as hard, people would like Black Mercedez just because it's a much stronger song, even though this one seems as if it'll appeal to more people.
Overall....this is like a 15 point, 2 assist, 3 rebound game from Jordan, Kobe, or Magic....that's decent for a role player, and very good for a bench player....but definitely not for a superstar.
-

If you listen to AMG's new tracks from 2005/2006, he changed his voice.
-
everyone needs to relax
it's obvious that this track is intentional, he did that Southern accent intentionally
I'm sure this isn't his new picked up style, take it for what it's worth and stop worrying about it
-

haha what a bunch of retards
so you know for a fact he put out this track to get with the in crowd and make more money?
-
props for the hook up
the beat is simple, but the shit still bumps......nice jam for the ride or the club
-

Exactly.
DJ Quik has made southern tracks before, check out his work with 8 ball and MJG, that shit was hot. This way way way below Quik standards and sounds liek everything else out there, just mediocre.
This song is just OK, nothing special.
-
^^^Yeah exaaactly....on Buck Bounce, he took the south bounce, but made it hot as hell with a west coast feel...and he was flowin hard as fuck to it!!
-
lol people giving me negative karma pts for this thread, hope i didnt hurt ya feelings or nothin lol....i'm all for supporting the west, but riding on the southern bandwagan? i know quik could do alot better then this...i wish he would make like a Rhythm-al-ism pt2 or somethin...that was his best work imo....
lol my karma went down after that post too. how surprising.
-

Yup, buck bounce was hard and so was Janky.
-
Alright... The beat is pretty boring other than the loud booms, which I thought was kinda hot. The vocals on it are terrible, Quik and AMG don't even sound recognizable. I'm sure they just did this as a single to make money, or even as a joke to make fun of the South shit, but overall the song is decent. I like the hook, and it bangs, but this is definitely not what I want from a new Quik album.
-
I'm sure they just did this as a single to make money, or even as a joke to make fun of the South shit
seems to me like they're just fuckin around
maybe it's me but I just get the impression like this isn't ment to be taken all that seriously
who knows what this is for anyways, if for an album of what
-
everyone needs to relax

Yeah I'm beginning to think the same shit. Quik is waaaaaay more talented than this. He just showing that he's not just a 1 demensional artist. He can flip it, splash it with a Quik twist and rip it...Dude is nice...I'm still supportin dude...whatever it is...the shit does knock tho'...WestUp!!
-
heres the re-up

Thanx dogg!!
-
Its Alright!!! its a Party starter, and should bang in the ride
-
we need a quik interview dubcnn :)
-
Quik sounds drunk as hell. Almost like Game sounds when he did Start From Scratch.
-
THIS IS NOT THE SONG I HEARD WHEN I MADE THAT THREAD. QUIK HAD A COMPLETELY DIFFRENT SONG ON POWER.
this shit is awful. west coast rappers suckin the dicks is wack needs to fuck stop. we already had enough with too short & e-40. we dont need a guy like QUIK doing this shit. i'm dissapointed in this garbage. Quik hasn't been the same since 2000. his best beats were 97-00. he needs to take it back to those days cuz those beats still bang hard today.
-
Seriously,is this kind of beat authorised? ...it should be not.
He tried something new here so i can't hate but this ain't my for me.
Well actually it's more about the hook that i complain about...the beat is what it is, with a greater hook the track could be decent.
-
This song sounds empty...Like its missing a bassline or something.
-
Someone Re-Up.. on yousendit or somethin.. please.. thanx..
-
This song sounds empty...Like its missing a bassline or something.
missing a bassline? that's about all it has. And to the other dude, I don't think Short should get lumped into the "Sucking the south's cock" category. He went to Atlanta way before anyone gave a fuck about that scene.
-

Nah, all it has is a 808. It don't have that Robert Bacon, G-one, Quik type bass guitar bassline. You know, when you hear it you say, "Thats a Quik beat" That's all this beat is missing.
-
i think quik needed5 minutes or this beat ...
-
it's not as bad as you're all making it out too be. atleast it's a clean beat and not the sloppy usual south shit.
-
After a few listens.....I'd say that I kinda like it as a song, but not as a DJ Quik song. Meaning...if I am makin a DJ Quik mix, or if I am introducin him to somebody who doesn't know about him, I would not put this song on there at all....but I'll put it on a regular mix.
-
well this goes up with fandago as one of my least favorite dj quik songs
-
peolpe are sayin Fandago was a terrible song or somethin but Fandago shits all over this junk...Fandago had that more instrumetal live feel that quik is known for but this sounds soo average like some kid outta the south put together..besides the big bass on i think this shit is terrible and most likely the worst quik song ever
-
wtf is wrong with fandango? It's a perfect club/radio song..... one of my favorite songs from trauma
-
you know what? i like this song
it doesn't feel like quik, but its a decent song. hopefully the album wont' be like this though.
-
Fandango is fucking sickkk, dont know what people are saying....this song is average as fuck and below standards for DJ Quik
**In the begining theres some bitch speaking portguese lol
-
Its an aight song in my opinion, no where near his best work, but still dope.
-
its ok but not what i expected.
-
beat sounds pretty dope, it would be nice in a club... needs a more pop artist on it though, not quik and AMG :-\
it's far from great, but it's cool.. i wouldn't hold this track against quik.
and i think he's just trying to sound young on the track..
-
everyone needs to relax
it's obvious that this track is intentional, he did that Southern accent intentionally
I'm sure this isn't his new picked up style, take it for what it's worth and stop worrying about it
fucking thank you.....everyone seems to forget about "what they think".....that describes this song. these fellas are just fuckin around..
-
i dunno..
i played on ma big speakers and ladies started dancing and sway to it...so it mite be a hit for the ladies...
But true Quik fans ..mite need to a little time to get use to it...
I think it's alright....I hope all the songs on his album won't be like this..hope he brings that quik flava back in...
-

Damn R, you worded it perfectly, I couldn't have said it better.

If they were just fuckin around, and put it on their Myspace or somethin, then we wouldn't care as much...but they played this on the radio at prime time last Friday, as if it's his brand new single that will go down in history with the rest of his singles. It might even end up as a single that doesn't even make the album, who knows...but they weren't fuckin around to the point that it's like "hey, let's play a joke and make this song, and send it to the radio stations and push it as ou single".
-
Im glad Quik doesnt sound like he did back in 95-98, even tho he released his best work to date in these years, IMO, I still think an artist should develop and take his style further.
I kinda like the way Quiks developing, and I really think this beat is a banger, n they both sound good on it.
Quik do sound different tho, drunk or whatever, he still came nice tho.. This track actually makes me anticipate an eventual album even more, cuz I really dont know what to expect.
-
The beginning part the girl is speaking in portuguese :D ;D :o LOL that suprised me.
the track ain't that bad. It's got a party feel to it, which quik has done in the past anyway. this might be a little further then he's gone in the past, but it's still alright. the beat bumps.
-
Hell yeah the track is dope... that show's that Quik is very Creative.. and can make any type of music..
-
I was just listenin to KDay, and somebody called in to request it during Yo-Yo's show.
-
I was just listenin to KDay, and somebody called in to request it during Yo-Yo's show.
nice. I been listenin to it all day. Too bad we don't know anything about an album. I'm workin on translating the beginning for y'all :)
-
cool!
-
alright. there were some parts I didn't get at first, but I understand it all now. the gurl in the beginning is speaking portugeuse. I am pretty sure this is exactly what she is saying:
"you always want me to tell you something, what do you want now? you always want something, ahh now I understand, you want me to do that? ok".
It may not make perfect sense in english, often exact translations don't. she's defanitely talking about something sexual.
-

I kinda like the way Quiks developing
to me this is more like COPYING than DEVELOPING
and i dont like the track, but its cool for quik to simply try something else, he has been trying different shit a lot in the past instead of doing the same old shit all over again, so its cool to me
but i dont understand why its promoted as a 'single'. but then again, im a huge quik fan and im sure he got something in his mind. there must be a reason for this step. he's a clever dude, so lets see
-
simple beat but it still sounds dope and the hook isnt all that bad either.
-

yeah thats what it says...its obvioulsy something sexual
You speak portuguese dude?
